Great video for all the details we look for in a light. Specs, pics, video angles switches, and actual physical light.
Thanks!
Thanks for the review!
You got it dude.
The production quality on this is surprisingly high considering the subscriber count. Great work!
Thanks! I used my phone.
What app?
Well my first weapons mounted light was a surefire 6p light I mounted on my ar15 carbine. And even though it was only 60 or 65 lumens it put out a fair amount of light for building searches and it was OK for outside use. It had a dimpled reflector that helped with light out put. And after I retired as a federal law enforcement officer. I really never gave any thoughts about installing one on my own ar15. And about three years ago I began checking for a weapons light to fit on my ar9 carbine, which is my primary home defensive weapon. And I bought the streamlight protac HLX to mount on it. And not only was I amazed by the light output. That I got another one for my ar15 carbine. And to be honest I'm happy with my decision. And I was so impressed I got and mounted one on my glock 19 and another one on my glock 23 and a third on my sig320c. And as far the debate between the two lights. Consider it a non issue. And just a bunch of necessary noise. Both lights are equal in preformance and quality from what I've noticed. And basically you get everything you need to mount your light to your weapon. The only thing I got extra was the cloud light control mount. And it is the best system to light cable and protect it. And it just looks better. And it worked so well I mounted the same set up on my ar15 carbine. And I had mounted a streamlight compact weapons mounted light on my glock 23. But soon after I upgraded to a tlr8a light on my glock 19 and added another of the tlr8 a to my glock19. And to my sig320c. And as far as the surefire and streamlight debate goes it's nothing but noise to me. And I could care less. And my setup works great for my needs. And as for the great debate over weapons lights, I'm not interested in what's trendy or popular, I'm interested in the preformance for my needs.
Very good review. I like how you went over the main specs in a simple and practical way.
Thanks! I'm glad you liked it.
You answered all my questions thank you 👍
Glad I could help. That's why I make videos. If you're needing to pick up either of these lights or anything else, check out my linktree:

GREAT Review man 💯
Thanks! I'm glad you liked it!
great comparison. it almost looked like the x300 put out more even surrounding light which might help with situational awareness in a really dark setting. that being said, ill probably go with the streamlight because i like the quick attachment setup and the price point. i would like to see a video comparing their durability but im not police or military so i probably wont be rolling around in the dirt with it or wrestling around with a perp. ill mostly use it for home defense. maybe ill take some night shooting classes in the future. either way, good video man. liked and subbed.
Thanks man! Check of sage dynamics channel. Aaron might have a durability test video on that one. If you are looking for great low light classes, check out MDFI. Trainmdfi.com
Awesome video. Only thing missing was the battery 🔋 change for the two lights. I’m going streamlight TL. Probably going to go order right now lol.
Great choice!
For the SureFire, you have a X300U-B. If you had the A you wouldn’t have that mounting problem, B is geared towards rifles
I went from surefire to STREAMLIGHT great video very informative 👍🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Great choice!
I like the surefire overall better but both are good choices imo.
You can disable the strobe on the TLR1!!!
quick tap 10 times and on the 10th hold down.
You are correct sir! I made a video on how to do it. I need to pin it in the comments.
I prefer no strobe so im glad streamlight has that option to turn it off.
one of the best review videos i've ever seen for any product EXCEPT you should have done a light comparison outside and down a hallway or something. nice job though
That's very kind of you to say. I do have some beam comparisons in later flashlight reviews in the playlist.

I'm almost done with a review and comparison video on the new Cloud Defensive MCH (vs the Modlite OKW) where I go outside and inside at various distances. Should be out this Friday. Stay tuned!
*You can disable strobe on the TLR-1 HL. Here's how ruclips.net/video/SQMO6WYgweE/видео.html
Stream light is brighter and cheaper how can you go wrong
Streamlight is made in China vs surefire made in USA. So usa Production costs are a bit more. That being said I like the surefire better. However I think both are good choices.
Thank you
You're welcome!
Getting a 509T FDE , and im not sure which light to get and what color it would go best with. All opinions help ❤️
Hey, I've got a video on that, too! Lol
ruclips.net/video/CgXkLSndoSY/видео.html
I will always go with the Surefire only because I have never had a problem and if it's not broken don't fix it. If I start having an issue I will definitely look at Stream Light.
Fair enough
Know if the bravo concealment torsion iwb g19mos x300 ultra holster is compatible with a streamlight tlr?
I don't know if you could run both. The streamlight is shorter so I would think they would be enough room. I would ask bravo though to make sure one way or the other.
@@YourFavoriteLibertarian ok thanks for the reply!
GREAT 👍 VIDEO!!! GREAT 👍 INFORMATION!!!
Thanks Angel!
Sure fire looks so good 😍
Agreed. Surefire wins in the looks department.
It's a good light
Hold the gun with your left hand man 🤣🤣🤣
Great vid thanks for the info
But it feels so weird lol. Thanks Man!
Great video dude. I have two pieces of feedback though. The first one is serious and the second one is still kinda serious but I’m just busting your chops.
1: when talking about the switch on the TLR you said “this has the ability to strobe and I accidentally strobe all the time” of something to that effect. I wish had elaborated more on what caused the accidental strobe and also how you activate it when you’re doing it intentionally.
2: when installing the surefire you could always hold the gun with your support hand that way you can see what you’re doing 😂 just a thought
1. I've made a video on how to disable strobe
ruclips.net/video/SQMO6WYgweE/видео.html
and talk about how to activate it as well. But what I saw and what happened to me a couple times in the last last low light class I took was...when I'd draw and try to activate constant on, I wouldn't push the switch all the way up, then I'd push it up again to get it all the way in position. That was recognized as a double tap by the light and gave me constant strobe.
Somehow I was paired up with the only other guy with the tlr-1 hl and the way he was drawing and the position of his holster produced constant strobe pretty much every time he drew. I think his outside the waist band holster was too close to his belt or coat. So every time he would draw, his switches would catch the belt or fabric on the way out. I wish we would have know how to disable strobe then.
2. Fair point. Lol
I bring Streamlights into burning bulidings so if I can trust them for work. I can trust them for my carry gun
My TLR-1 HL battery tray broke rendering the light useless after 6 years of very light usage. I sent it to Streamlight for repair and bought a X300U-A brand new as a replacement. Well I'm returning the Surefire because the constant-on switch was defective and only turned on the light by rotating in one direction. Not what I expected from Surefire. So both lights suck I guess...
Man! Some guys have all the luck! lol. I've had some serious issues with Surefire dual fuel lights and their customer service was really bad. I pretty much use Streamlight exclusively with the exception of longer distance lights. I have 1 Modlite OKW for longer range illumination but unfortunately, I can't recommend their pistol light as they have had issues as well. Sounds like you'll just need to hope that some new lights come out this shot show that work.
I fell for you man. I'll be going to shot show 2024. I'll keep a lookout for you.
I prefer the X300U. The fact that it protrudes out further than the Streamlight will help to prevent your gun from being knocked out of battery if you have shoot at point black range.
Although, when the PL350 comes back in stock, I will be replacing all of my X300Us.
Speaking of super long pistol lights lol. At least you okw output for the added length.
That’s not a reason to use a light for contact shots you should be training to use thumb on back if slide if you ever have to make a contact shot!
@@eddiearchuleta615 that makes no sense.. If I have a light extending past the slide then I don’t need to. Also, doing what you suggest while grappling could cause a person to impede the slides movement causing an FTE. No thanks.
@@weaponeer8582 I'm in the same school of thought as @Weaponeer unless someone can explain the advantage of only shooting 1 round instead of several at that range.
It sounds like the thumb on the slide plate made sense when more people carried a semi without a light attached. Still useful to know if you're going handheld-light only with a smaller semi without a rail.
Thinking about making a trade with my buddy for a TLR-1 HL and this video sold it to me 😂
Great choice! Not sure if you've heard about Modlite's new pistol light but you might want to check that out as well. I'm a big fan of the weapon and handheld lights and this new body accepts all their heads.
I may see if my friend who just got one will let me borrow it for a video.
The Candela of the streamlight comes from that extra dia
Who else is here after buying a streamlight 😅 great stuff
Did you scratch off the yellow sticker on the stream light box. I think it's actually 800 lumens, unless streamlight is using old packaging for new products.
😆 oh no, I got scammed! But seriously, it's common practice in the industry to use the rest of your old packaging to eliminate waste when transitioning to a new version. Streamlight did it with this light, and Huxwrx did it with their old OSS packaging for my new 5.56Ti supressor.

@@YourFavoriteLibertarian lol ok, just curious 😎
Id say the streamlight weight is a benefit if its used for a light front pistol like a glock thats super light from the front
It's a pro and a con
Bro.. shut up 🤣 your sound effects had my dying. You’ve gained a follower today. That was way too good lmao
If I can get just one crying laughing emoji in the comments, then it was all worth it.
next video will be Mormons vs the Baptist
Funny story: in high-school, my art teacher told me a knock knock joke that would trigger 90% of the internet today. Are you ready?...
Teacher: knock knock.
Me: who's there?
Teacher: John.
Me: John who?
Teacher: (gets hands wet from the paint brush cleaning sink and flicks water at my face) John the Baptist!
I'd rather have my kids be told that joke than be taught critical race theory any day. 🙂
End of story, end of video at 4:30.00 run time. The rest is regurgitation.
There can be only one
Streamlight.
💥⚖️☮️🇺🇲✌️
🤣
good stuff man. For a handgun mounted light I don’t see how you can pass up the stream light for that price. Sure fire is just proud of their product lol! $300 can get you another pistol!
I agree (obviously lol). Once the Modlite pistol light comes out, Surefire is going to be in even more trouble.
Did I miss it? You were going to show how the tlr1 has a strobe function.
I did a separate video if you want to see how to turn the strobe off and see the strobe function.
ruclips.net/video/SQMO6WYgweE/видео.html
Love my streamlight. But it comes loose on my 226
Have you tried using the sig adapter insert that comes with it? There's one for the sig 320 that might work. Or you could try the 1913 adapter. I go over all the adapters included in my dedicated review of the Streamlight here ruclips.net/video/LRIUF8UZK4Y/видео.html
@@YourFavoriteLibertarian Sig p226 uses 1913 rail
Definitely you didn't do you research on the A before making some of your points on mounting. Also some of the points you made about the surefire where kind of whiny.
Just an opinion, I think if you did more homework and gave us a better presentation I would have enjoyed the video more.
I did like how clear your voice is & the audio was very good.
Hey. Happy Thanksgiving!
Basically the same light for $150 cheaper. The choice is obvious.
If you like money - streamlight..if you don't - surefire
😂
Music too loud
Sorry
No comment.
If you're with the Fed, go with the Surefire. However, if you're spending your hard-earned money, go with the Streamlight.
Guess I'm going with Streamlight then, lol.
I have both. Surefire a bit better imo. But I thin either are a good choice.
Also if you prefer made in USA then take a look at surefire.
Great review but you’re ridiculous @ 11:20. Just put the damn thing on. Lol
Lol yeah I'm sure if I had the x300 first I wouldn't have even thought about it. But Streamlight spoiled me haha.
Surefire is all hype
Truth. At one point they were the best but they got passed up around the beginning of the 18650 age. Now the output and run time is less than the competition but they still charge for their products like they are still the best. I really hope they turn things around. Until then, I'm running modlite and streamlight.
@@YourFavoriteLibertarian They're not charging "like they're the best", they're charging you for a domestically produced product with premium materials and finishes. This should of been evident by the fact the Surefire is larger in dimensions but weighs less. That means it's using some high strength alloys and not chinesium pot metal.
@@MrCooper89 This, i will always buy surefire. People get what they pay for. USA MADE -surefire China imported - streamlight
@@MrCooper89 yea some high grade aluminum. I'd love to see a torture test - I have yet to see a weapons light torture test on youtube
Surefire is made in USA vs streamlight made in China. So you are paying a little more for made in USA. I think the surefire has better durability in my experience and I like the controls better. However I think either is a good choice.
Bro there’s a different mounting options for the surefire. You need to inform yourself before you review it.
I know there are. I was reviewing and comparing the "U" model specifically as it is most comparable to the TLR-1 HL. If you don't like my opinion that's fine but don't assume I don't know about the mounting options. I didn't want the plastic mount option sf has as I don't trust a plastic attachment that requires multiple screws to hold it to the body as much as a mount that is integral to the body.
Streamlight is better.
A man of taste.
I like the surefire controls better.
Olight pl pro
This video doesn't have to be this long big mouth
It doesn't have to be... but it is.
@@YourFavoriteLibertarian Guys like you are the reason text is going to be preferred over having to sift through your meandering fluff generating videos. Get to the point and get out of our lives, bigmouth.
It's going to be ok. Just take some deep breaths and realize that you can stop watching my videos at any time. You don't have to be a victim of my fluff anymore.
You haven't been on the internet since the 90s. You only got on when you realized you could SWINDLE some people out of their money.
These are really entertaining to read. I have to sponsors, no companies are paying me or sending me products to review, and my videos are not monetized. If you think youtube is the place to go to make money with the type of content I post, you know less about the internet than I do. I just started a patreon for people who want to support the channel which is optional...you know like how watching my videos are optional. But keep commenting if you want. I'm having fun and they help the algorithms.
As a RUclips creator / reviewer, I like to seek out channels that 'do it right' in my opinion. I think you are doing a great job and I love this video. Some of the comments listed are from people who apparently want a 30 second review; personally, I'm a 'gun nerd', and I want to know as much as I can about something that may (or may not!) save my neck someday.
Again, thanks, you've got your own style and I really enjoy that. Hope you'll check out GUN NEWS & REVIEWS ruclips.net/channel/UC2KKGpDRVwson9H2CDUzfnQ
Thanks I appreciate the kind words. You can't please everyone. Especially on the internet lol. I just try to make videos that I would want to watch and if other people like them too, cool. If someone wants a quick video, there are thousands to choose from. I didn't really see many indepth videos though which is why I started putting my version out there. Hey, there's timestamps so feel free to skip ahead people lol.
I'll definitely check out your channel.
