I appreciate how you used just one set of pastels here. It's inspiring to those of us starting out with limited supplies and tight budget. Thank you!😊 Lovely work as usual.

Thank you! It's nice to work with less colours sometimes. It can be quite freeing weirdly.

@@EmmaColbertArt That's ironic, isn't it? Like setting a time limit for studies...it's odd how it forces you to try new things!

I love that you share the time lapses here. While not a thorough tutorial, they are still helpful and certainly entertaining 😊

Thank you very much! I try to add some narrated info so that they give you something more. But for me they're a bit of fun and a treat to myself after all the hours of painting it to see it spring to life in minutes. If only it was that easy in reality!

@@EmmaColbertArtThe narrated info is very helpful too! Another thing I like about your art is that you make very nice backgrounds so that it feels more alive and peaceful to look at. A lot of artists don't, but I like you do. and Ya I time lapse mine too, and it shows you all the work you did really quickly.

I agree! I have actually painted along with some of Emma's time-lapse videos (with lots of pausing and going back), and created a decent painting therefrom!

Your patrons are in for a treat. Oh she is gorgeous. Wow. I am always amazed at your colour pallette how rich and dark the undwrpainting is. That is probably why your work glows.
I've your animal set. You have introduced me to some colours I hadn't thought to pick up. Thank you Emma.

My first pastel painting was a lion that I made look scarred and as an old fighter. I love Unison but I also appreciate some of the different Schminke yellows and ochres although colors can be mixed and hard/soft pastels. Your lioness turned out beautifully. I have a photo of three young lions with their father facing the back of the photo so they appear fearless because of who is behind them. I would love to see you thoughts or interpretation of it. The photo is from the Cincinnati zoo and I certainly can contact the photographer who is very generous. I enjoy your videos Emma , you really capture their tones and values. Thank you😊

Thanks so much for commenting! Where possible I'm loving painting from my own references and I love the challenge of taking trips to different places to get suitable images to paint. That's a big part of my process. I'll hopefully paint more lions though as I loved doing this one!
