I don’t think that’s really an issue at all, I think the main issue is the series not featuring Selena’s original recordings and they remade the songs again with a different voice. It just doesn’t work. Diego Boneta is no Luis Miguel but he did an excellent redoing Luis Miguel’s hits in his voice with his own uniqueness and the instrumentals were recorded by LuisMi’s producer and concert arranger Kiko Cibrian. These Selena covers sound very fake compared to the original and while the actress has a very nice voice it does not go with Selena’s style and sounds completely out of sync.
Selena has been dead for 25 years, maybe its time that her greedy family stops making money off of her and let her Rest In Peace! They should work on something themselves instead of living off her death.
I wish the Quintanillas would've let Chris come out with his version.. or well his life with Selena. I don't know if you all have read his book, but my goodness that would have been an amazing movie or series.

It’s a wonderful story to tell and it might reach even the young teenagers these days since it’s on Netflix. I know they hate old movies so maybe this will catch their attention and her story can reach more people.

People around here talk about what they were doing when Selena died the way people talk about what they were doing when they heard about 9/11 or people a generation ago talked about JFK being shot. You can buy canvas bags and travel cups with her face at the grocery stores and gas stations. Her music is still played-- I'm white, and even I know Como la Flor and Bidi Bidi Bom Bom (and "Dreaming of You"). Little girls still print off lyrics to her songs at the library, and every spring, her memorial downtown is covered with white roses. Don't mess this up, Netflix. Or you're going to have the wrath of Texas after you.

He tried but Abraham stopped him because he tricked Chris into signing over all rights of Selena’s likeness, voice, signature, etc to him right after she died, while he was grieving. Chris appealed the decision but lost and now has to pay all of Abraham’s court fees. Very sad

She lived a life that was worth living and it was taken away from her for no reason what so ever. She would have dominated the music industry. No Hispanics at that time were actually making noise the way she was. She had a unique sound in her voice where you can tell instantly “That’s Selena”. And the talent in her singing shows in her music.

The show Chris wanted to do was based off of his book that showcased Selena, the person, and how she was off stage which is one of the things she wanted to be remembered as. There's literally an interview of hers where she says she doesn't only want to be remembered as an entertainer but as a person who cared and did the best that she could and THAT is what Chris wanted to show.

I think they will actually use the original music since her father, sister and lawyer are the executive producers. There is another series created by Telemundo not so long ago and they couldn’t use the music because the family sued the company.

It won’t be coming out this year. They were in the middle of filming when COVID suddenly happened in late March. Production had to to be shut down. They’ve just recently gone back to filming. It’s being rumored they’re aiming to release this on the 26th anniversary of Selena’s death to honor her life around March or April of 2021 now.
Selena's family is PRODUCING the show, no doubt they had a hand in casting. If they believe in this chick, then let's try and support her BECAUSE IT'S WHAT SELENA WOULD WANT US TO DO.

Lemme tell you, she doesn’t look anything like Selena. JLo actually looked like her. Lots of people want one or the other; either she looks like Selena or she’s a good actress. They actually had all right when Selena passed, Chris signed over all rights to use Selena’s image, voice and anything related to her. The only reason why they’re doing the show in the first place is because of the release of El Secreto de Selena.
Also he was only part of her life for what 4 years. His family was there through the beginning from struggling to put food on the table all the way to Selena’s rise to super stardom.

The show Chris wanted to do was based off of his book that showcased Selena, the person, and how she was off stage which is one of the things she wanted to be remembered as. There's literally an interview of hers where she says she doesn't only want to be remembered as an entertainer but as a person who cared and did the best that she could and THAT is what Chris wanted to show.

I think a lot of it has to do with Chris. Chris wanted to make a series and he got sued yet her family turns around and does it? I don’t think it is about the show I think it’s more about the family. People see that they use everything with Selena to make money and I think that is what makes them nit pick. I could be wrong 🤷🏻♀️

Like in Selena and Chris' relationship, with Yolanda, even in Selena's music video for 'Dreaming of You.' I think Chris signed something when she died saying he'd never use her name or he'd never do anything Selena-related. He should've never been asked to sign that and never should've signed it. He's her husband, loved her passionately and has just as much right to talk about her and their life together as her family. But I can also understand he was grieving and probably didn't think. It was shady of the family to ask that of him.

Uriel Ramirez Most people want to watch it, but I’m sure most of those people didn’t like the casting choice. I watched Christian Serratos in The Walking Dead. Lemme tell you, she doesn’t look anything like Selena. JLo actually looked like her. Lots of people want one or the other; either she looks like Selena or she’s a good actress. JLo was both and I’m sure that’s why most people are mad. They didn’t get an actress that is both. Just my opinion though.

That’s because all they care about is making money off of her “legacy”. The MAC makeup collection was trash and not really Selena. I feel like Chris has more of a right to her story as her husband than her family. They just seem like freakin snakes wanting all the money to themselves. Not really doing what Selena would have wanted. But that’s just my opinion.
They actually had all right when Selena passed, Chris signed over all rights to use Selena’s image, voice and anything related to her. The only reason why they’re doing the show in the first place is because of the release of El Secreto de Selena.
Also he was only part of her life for what 4 years. His family was there through the beginning from struggling to put food on the table all the way to Selena’s rise to super stardom.
For everyone being negative about her being the new Selena actress at the end of the day I can guarantee you’ll still watch it period
