Tae'Jaun Dre4mz Gonzalez Selena and her family were Jehovah Witnesses, after she died they started studying the Bible again, respect their beliefs, Selena herself probably would’ve wanted it anyways.
Placido Aguilar Yes she is loved everywhere . Some artists transcend all racial and cultural differences :) Michael Jackson another good example of that
I learned Spanish through Selena's songs. By remembering the lyrics I could remember how to use verbs in the past for my exams in high school. Especially the song «No Me Queda Mas». It was a life saver. I was only 3 years old when she passed but I still put her music when I'm cleaning or doing the dishes. A gorgeous queen gone too soon...

Debbie Tesfaye i feel like sel and ali were both so talented, humble, and beautiful inside and out. Both were rising as artists and tragically stripped away from it. Ali passed away at 22 and Sel at 23.
Debbie Tesfaye they share a lot of this in common. Aaliyah brought a urban sound to r&b and her fashion style blossomed. While selena opened doors for female singers in tejano music and also had her own iconic style
Lmao. To this day NO ONE has been able to either cover her successfully or imitate her. Just like with Whitney. Two most important female voices of all time IMO.
I never obsess over celebrities but Selena is so unique and such a beautiful person. It makes me cry watching her videos and hearing people close to her talk about her. RIP Selena
Is anyone here in 2021 still wishing she was alive ruling the whole music industry with that beautiful voice, smile, attitude and everything about her? RIP Selena 🙏😭 Edit: I've never had this many likes and never expected it. Thank you guys do much
I just return back to listen to Selena and at the end of the video. I started bawling tears. (The thing is that I barely cry to any sad song or sad event until now.)
Fashion, voice, entertaining, everything? Use your brain. You better check the 1940's-1980's for voice, the 1970's-1980's for fashion and entertaining...Before Selena.
@@stantwiceandbts4729 You mistake honesty with "mad." I support Selena, both of them, I just find it disappointing when people say things that are not the truth.
Selenas voice had that extra spark, if you listen closely to everyone who covered her songs.. no one comes even close to it, she had the right balance of raspy voice and sounded just right. Her performances were so powerful
Whitney Houston was also a Selena fan - she called Selena's work "brilliant", and said that Selena was the artist she felt most inspired by. Wikipedia lists 67 famous people who say that they were influenced in some way by Selena.
I see her outfits and I realized that loooong timeee before Shakira, Britney Spears or Jlo was Selena. She was a Pioneer in fashion, style and music .She was really born a Star !!
I havent heard a single song of Selenas being sang by a famous artist that get close to Selenas version. Her voice was beautiful but the feelings she makes you feel when she sings are out of this world
Yeah I really wish people wouldn't try to unless they sang like her but that is really really really hard to find. It's not just the voice it is the person too. It's either not enough soul, can't hit the notes, too many vocal techniques that seem so unnatural, not enough power, and you can hear in their voice that they are focusing on perfection when with her it seemed to be so effortless like she didn't have to try and she was just enjoying life and being on stage.
True but no one could ever fill her shoes. But to just keep her music and songs going is great helps to keep her legacy going for future generations to enjoy
I remember like yesterday I was like 7 or 8 years old When Selena lost her life. The Black community mourned from a deep place. Especially here in Houston Tx where we were raised. I remember for weeks Selena was played over all the R&B & Hip Hop airways. I witnessed people crying while hearing her on the car radio & throughout loud speaker in the hood! Everybody sang to the lyrics! Even the hard core thugs! I talking about Black People! She was very much our Queen just as the Latino communities icon! She was sewn in the fabrics of so many hearts & homes. We got to Witness A Angel! So sad she left us so soon. 😫🙏🏾
Imagine being mexican with a family and hood totally latino, we all felt that pain to the guts. Here is general culture, every single person in Mexico knows at least 30 songs of her
Román Ghoul yeah I totally understand! I’m black(Louisiana Creole) and I have Spanish & Central American Ancestors! The pain was heart wrenching & honestly unbearable. Dreaming didn’t make it any better!
Although she was a huge inspiration to Latinos, I want to say that she was a great inspiration to every fan, of any color, who might be just struggling to get by. Her humble origins and talent gave hope to others, and her joy brought joy to others. Absolutely loved the woman!
So true, I was only 9 when she passed but after seeing her movie later as a teen I was so in awe of her and inspired to live and be a blessing to others. What I loved about her was that she loved her family, friends, and fans and never forgot where she came from. Even with her fame and success, she was just herself, fun and loving.
Selena seemed like such a wonderful woman. She had it all-the voice, the figure, the look, just everything. When I was a teenager I didn’t know who Selena was. But now I can understand how so many fans loved her. May she RIP.
@@princessmajesty8676 really?.... give it a chance, beyonce and shakira had a song it was nice. They both have beautiful voices and sweet young souls . RIP

Judith Islas No, not literally me. lol I should've re-worded it. I said me meaning I was like that little girl when Selena died. (Like the age and how the girl was all emotional.) :-D
This video needs to be updated again!! Drake,Bruno,Becky G, Pitbull and Meghan Trainor have mentioned her. 20 years later and Selena is still relevant!!
I just realized how great she was when at my job I was singing Bidi Bidi Bom Bom and noticed everybody turned their heads at me and cried altogether at once: Selena! ...yes up here in Northern Territories in Canada, a year ago 2018, 23 after her dead!
me too. all these years later….i still cry listening to her music….seeing her in videos. she was truly a beautiful human being inside and out. the world was robbed.tragic. I'm so happy that people still remember her and think about her….to know the impact she continues to have…..its amazing
I'm 54 years old and I cant stop crying watching this video. Selena had touch and still touching many peoples hearts with her music. God is having a good time with her in heaven.
I agree selena and aaliyah did not deserve what they got i miss aaliyah more i respect selena but i am not a really fan like mariah carey but i respected heri am not a fan of texmex or texano music i am a asliyah fan but both did not deserve this
Gosh. I had to force myself to not cry watching this. such a tremendous talent gone too soon. my brother, a big burly teddy bear of a guy, sings I could fall in love word for word whenever it plays on the radio. Her music transcended all barriers and resonated with so many people regardless of race, age, or sex. I wish she were alive to see all of this
When George Bush ran for president he didnt win the hispanic vote in both of his elections but he did grab a nice chunk of it primarily because of his tribute to Selena. Many latinos respected him for that.
I didn't know that growing up, she didn't speak much Spanish and that she learnt it quickly to make a name for herself in Tejano music. It's amazing how she as a native English speaker made her execution of Spanish flow so naturally in her music.
the rest of us will follow suit. Maybe in 1 year, maybe 10 years, maybe 50 more if we're lucky. Damn, I was like 3 or 4 years old when she died, and listening to her music today always reminds me that we are all mortal.
The weird thing is her parents dont believe that she is in heaven but just dead..eventually one day to be resurrected - she was a Jehovah Witness to certain extent because her parents believed in that
She's in HELL!!! Reincarnation doesn't exist, people experiencing past memories are false memories planted by demons. And just because she was of a certain religion dosent mean she will go to heavon. She didn't practice what the bible teaches, just because you call yourself something doesn't mean u are...many call themselves Christians but don't know a single teaching of Jesus people like that shouldn't call themselves Christians cus there not, and there's testemonies of people seeing her in hell
Now Selena, she was all real. Real talent. No autotune. Her hair, real. Her face, real. Her BUTT, REAL. No sex tape. She started a movement with her talent. No other famous woman or female rapper was as real as her or ever will be. God bless her. R.I.P Selena. You'll forever live in our hearts.
Kiya Nichelle America. In the real world, ppl respect a women w/ morals and pure talent. I have nothing against porn stars, ppl that make a living from sex or ppl that get a jump start bc of sex. But I prefer, love and respect a woman like Selena that did it all without having to have sex... For the record, I didn't put any specific artist dow nor disrespect one.
People these days don't care about a sex tape, but the point of the original comment wasn't to put down other artists, it was to say that she didn't use shortcuts to boost her fame, like how Kim used her sex tape instead of working for her career, and how many artists, like Britney Spears and - ironically - Jennifer Lopez and Selena Gomez, instead of succeeding through their raw talent. The point is not to bully or shame other artists/people, but to point out that Selena did more than any of these modern day celebrities, who thrive off the materialism of our generation, without taking the easy roads that they have. She was real and she actually worked for her goals, every step of the way.
I was in her last performance here in Miami "carnaval Miami" And I remember I scream I love you Selena She heard me, she smile and scream back to me "Yo tambien te amo" Casi me desmayo...jajaja
I actually believe that had Selena been alive, she definitely would've helped relations with Mexico and US in the White House because she was a powerhouse alone. Rest well princess, truly MISSED.
COCOAPIE... Selena wasn't from Mexico. Her family are all Mexican-Amer. She had to be taught Spanish quickly once her father realized she could sing and b/c Tejano music was the hot back then in Texas. Singing in Spanish brought more customers to their family restaurant then in english. No one in her family was from Mexico.
Selena was iconic because being famous didn’t change her, it didn’t break her, she had no pain in her eyes. She was goofy beautiful confident successful and humble. A true role model
I feel like she didn't get the chance 😕😔😢 too grow into herself and be the best version 🙏❤️ of herself so you guys say that now because she hasn't had a long year career in the industry like Michael Jackson or Whitney Houston for example I guess
I was 5 years old when Selena was taken away. I remember to this day my mom sobbing. I remember her playing for me the same music I’ve heard over and over but having a name to it. I still listen to it to this day because it reminds me of my mom but as I get older it makes me feel so much more. Her words and who she was as a person, an artist, and as an inspiration is something we all lack now as a society in who we look up to.
Yeah I feel like she would inspire the music industry in a strong way where the "rap" and music that they make nowadays would actually have meaning, and I feel like many people would be influenced by her style and her personality
Nah it wouldn’t. There are sick people all over the world and Selena wouldn’t be able to change that alone. Micheal Jackson and many others couldn’t 🤷🏿♀️it’s a group effort
I was driving hm when I heard about Selena’s death but it was my one and only big Brother who introduced me to her music and it was my love of music that made me learned the words to her songs, me Ameican black male in Detroit Michigan learning actually a another cultural and their music and language God keep your forever in Loving peace ❤️ “Selena” 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 Rest in Love My Beloved Brother Gregg March 22, 1952 - June 18th 2011 ~ “The Day that the music die”
This is the one person in the world who is never going to be forgotten. It is amazing to see that she is still so loved and admired by so many people who didn't even meet her. I was only 7 when she passed and I was so disappointed. She was a blessing to us all.
Omg she had the most beautiful and genuine smile I had ever seen till the point that it gave me chills. She was truly an angel, she marked my childhood forever. I knew all of her songs and saw every single one of her interviews. Rip gorgeous, you are truly missed.
I am not Hispanic by any means but there is something so relatable about her and she seemed so full of life and wonderful to be around. Such amazing talent and tragic story. Touches you and breaks your heart 💔
The amazing thing about selena is that her voice, either recording a song or singing live was the same, no auto tune. That's the hallmark of an amazing and truly gifted human being with real vocal talent. R.I.P THE TRUE QUEEN DIVA!
Selena y Aaliyah just think if they did music together!! lord lord lord that wlda been.... I can't even find the words to describe how fire that wld have been. I love them both
Now that you say that Selena was like the Latina version of Aaliyah and same vice versa. Both influenced others and life ended too soon. I'm sure if they both were physically still alive they would be just as big if not even bigger than J-lo and Beyonce.
I'm crying so hard I can barely see the screen. Why would you want to kill such an innocent, beautiful woman? She had so, SO much more to live for and she died the worst way possible... My heart breaks for her. I don't speak Spanish but I LOVE her music! I almost want to learn it so I can understand her better. I hope she's at peace and I bet you she's dancing and singing in heaven all day long. Oh Selena... you're greatly missed :(

Selena would've been the Latin Beyonce, only not rivaling her but rather she'd have been as big as her if she lived. Selena was ahead of her time; she was brought up to respect her culture and the music of it, but she was more into pop and R&B. She blended the two when she made her crossover album, but in actuality Selena's first language was English.
No I think I read that correctly thank u. U are comparing her to a Latina Beyoncé. Beyoncé sucks. Selena. She would have been better than Beyoncé. So compare her to someone better than Beyoncé
That quote at the end is beautiful ❤️ I am very new to the world of Selena, but what a beautiful soul she was. So full of life. She loved to be on stage. She was so happy. Cannot comprehend the mindset of the woman who took such a beautiful soul from this world. 🥀
me too no shame. I can just picture Selena as Mr. amigo ( march border festival; invites an international artist). Tx misses you and remembers you for ever!

One amazing message for everyone out there. A grave digger from Seaside Cemetery where Selena was put to rest and has been a grave digger for more than 15 years told me as I attended a funeral there said, people all over United States come visit her burial site! He said, Selena is never alone. He sees people come visit every single day! How incredible is that!! 🙏🏼❤️🙏🏼 😍
Her death is really one of the worst ones to hit the Mexican/Chicano community. Such a beautiful, talented and a great role model for the younger generations. We miss you dearly Selena 🖤
The best thing about Selena we should all learn from is that she never thought she was above everyone else and wanted to be equal to everyone around her. That’s one of the main reasons i love her so much
It doesn't matter how many years pass by, but ...the older I get, I still cry when I see what a beautiful human she was and was taken away so soon. The sadness never goes away, but when I play her music... I get back the energy and smile she gave us all and forever will with the legacy she built. There is just never going to be another Selena.
The woman who "shot Selena " in the BACK" is not only a coward, but a dream killer for so many children who based their hopes and dreams on Selena's existence. When you hurt children, (and her hand most definitely killed more than Selena), who have no defenses, that's worse than a coward. 😔 The coward should stay in prison for the rest of her life. She destroyed too many human beings, small and adult alike. This is not your normal homicide. Their are civil damages as well. Pain and suffering for so many and Selena's family have had to spend money to address that pain & suffering for everyone. And what about lost revenue. I hate to even fathom that amount of money. Parents cannot replace an artist no matter how hard they try. Impossible .💋
Her death was the only death ( besides robin williams, but even then)I cried myself to sleep. I was 7 and I still remember her , she came to midland ( west texas ) I got to hug her and she complimented my hair and I hated it I hated my curly hair, but she said it was so cute. I never judged my hair after that I straighten it still, but I also keep it curly most the time. Side tracking.. But, yes when she died Yolanda didn't just kill someone.. she killed the dreams of mexican girls who knew she would make it. She was making it everyone was already knowing her and she killed her . It was so painful and still is. We lost our idol the women that made us feel " She did it, we can do it to !" We still can do it and even though that bitch hurt us deeply all us mexican women who succeed and are inspired by Selena will always rise up and we will be what she made us feel like we could be. Her words are my inspiration , her music is what helps me during an art block. I became an illustrator and I know i've got a hard road, but having her as my idol and remember her and her words get's me to go. Even in death she inspires. She is just a true angel. If I ever get my dream come true first thing i'mma say is " I'd like to thank Selena for showing me that a mexican girl can become someone amazing. That we are amazing. ." Shit i'm starting to cry. I didn't even mean to click on this video ;;;_______;;;
So are you tired of Midland yet ? Lol just kidding I just knew once I left the city limits I couldn't go back after growing up there. DFW is a bit different...ok a lot. Off topic. In 1992 my mom gave me 20.00 to buy a ticket for her concert at the Angels stadium (now Christensen stadium). As a 13 year old kid who liked her music but video games more, I instead went to Midland Park Mall game room. Yes, I am an idiot.

Omg!! So true.. No comparison... Not even close!!!! 😢
Lmao. To this day NO ONE has been able to either cover her successfully or imitate her. Just like with Whitney. Two most important female voices of all time IMO.
Also Mariah's voice

I never obsess over celebrities but Selena is so unique and such a beautiful person. It makes me cry watching her videos and hearing people close to her talk about her. RIP Selena
Is anyone here in 2021 still wishing she was alive ruling the whole music industry with that beautiful voice, smile, attitude and everything about her? RIP Selena 🙏😭
Edit: I've never had this many likes and never expected it. Thank you guys do much

I just return back to listen to Selena and at the end of the video. I started bawling tears. (The thing is that I barely cry to any sad song or sad event until now.)
I only discovered her this year during quarantine and omg her voice!
She was so ahead of her time, fashion, voice, entertaining, spirit! EVERYTHING!
Fashion, voice, entertaining, everything? Use your brain. You better check the 1940's-1980's for voice, the 1970's-1980's for fashion and entertaining...Before Selena.

@@markuse3472 not you getting mad
@@stantwiceandbts4729 You mistake honesty with "mad." I support Selena, both of them, I just find it disappointing when people say things that are not the truth.
Selenas voice had that extra spark, if you listen closely to everyone who covered her songs.. no one comes even close to it, she had the right balance of raspy voice and sounded just right. Her performances were so powerful
Yas! You can hear it in her song "Captive Heart."
-
shakira sounded wonderful
Yes shakira did.. but selena's voice a music really touched ppl's hearts.
Shakira's voice too nasally to sound like Selena but yea
Whitney Houston was also a Selena fan - she called Selena's work "brilliant", and said that Selena was the artist she felt most inspired by. Wikipedia lists 67 famous people who say that they were influenced in some way by Selena.
Interesting I always like Whitney she’s amazing ! They both are
Selena would’ve loved that considering she was a Whitney fan
she was definitely up there in heaven along with Michael jackson, Prince, Elvis presley, Pac, Biggie, Aaliyah.. etc. Rip❤️❤️❤️

Yes they all making good music
Now girl...
Beyond..
Hi kathy
I see her outfits and I realized that loooong timeee before Shakira, Britney Spears or Jlo was Selena. She was a Pioneer in fashion, style and music .She was really born a Star !!
You better take a look at the 1980's and 1970's female singers. Stop being dumb.
Of course she paved the way for most of them which is what makes her legendary
She was destined to become the GOAT. She had everything, super funny, humble, smart and beautiful. She was a Goddess!
GOAT???
Goat?
Robert Grimes Yes, the goat
iiAuroraGachaa Why you all keep asking GOAT? don’t you know what it means??
iiAuroraGachaa Greatest Of. All Time = GOAT
I havent heard a single song of Selenas being sang by a famous artist that get close to Selenas version. Her voice was beautiful but the feelings she makes you feel when she sings are out of this world
I think Selena needs a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame now.
@@jennygrapert8404 she does have already...they did it last 2017..

Get chills but the bright side Yolanda didn’t destroy her or her legacy, it’s grown and keeps growing every year since her passing
To this day I don't think anyone has been able to sing her songs like she did. She was a beautiful human being. Selena forever!
Alicia Villarreal i think is her name. She does Si Una Vez justice

Keke Wyatt would drag her vocally today tho
i feel you fam...love her n miss her amazing talent ALWAYS.
Blueridge4000 that’s why she had don in her group and as one of her closest friends- she loved everyone regardless of their background
Well that's odd, I went to her wake and I hardly saw any brothers or white people, only hispanics
I did get a bit choked up when Bruno Mars started singing "Dreaming" and it sounded like the ENTIRE audience appreciated it and started singing along.
Although she was a huge inspiration to Latinos, I want to say that she was a great inspiration to every fan, of any color, who might be just struggling to get by. Her humble origins and talent gave hope to others, and her joy brought joy to others. Absolutely loved the woman!
Tim Ward. Thank you
Solo selina
So true, I was only 9 when she passed but after seeing her movie later as a teen I was so in awe of her and inspired to live and be a blessing to others. Kim is emulating Latina

Even George W. Bush was a Selena Stan, this woman was too iconic. VIVA SELENA!!
Ignacio Navarro he did pretty well speaking Spanish
Gov. George Bush had all the Flags in Texas at Half Staff for a week of mourning.
Bill Clinton send a condolences letter to Chris Perez...
When George Bush ran for president he didnt win the hispanic vote in both of his elections but he did grab a nice chunk of it primarily because of his tribute to Selena. Many latinos respected him for that.
He declared Selena day in Texas as governor
Crazy that she had a whole bunch of hits in English and Spanish
We love a bilingual queen
I didn't know that growing up, she didn't speak much Spanish and that she learnt it quickly to make a name for herself in Tejano music. It's amazing how she as a native English speaker made her execution of Spanish flow so naturally in her music.
Can't believe she's been gone for almost 25 years.

Tony Serna hey. I’m a Serna too. I never see any Serena’s anywhere.
Tony Serna do you live in El Paso???
Paloma Savaengcharoen personal opinion
Cellar Door Yes but you obviously don't.
+Cellar Door Still trying to figure out wtf you mean by this three months later... some serious headassery at work here
Just because she's dead does not mean you need to try and put down other artists. And who cares about a sex tape?
I can't stop crying, Selena's death is TRULY a tragedy in all respects...R.I.P. Selena

Selena is immortal, her musical legacy lives forever.
Selena was very special, not only a beautiful lady but a beautiful person.
She didn't die... She became inmortal.
Does any one else believe that if she was alive this world would actually be in a way better position? I believe she had that kind of soul
Yeah I feel like she would inspire the music industry in a strong way where the "rap" and music that they make nowadays would actually have meaning, and I feel like many people would be influenced by her style and her personality
You're defenely right

Selena would've been the Latin Beyonce, only not rivaling her but rather she'd have been as big as her if she lived. Selena was ahead of her time; she was brought up to respect her culture and the music of it, but she was more into pop and R&B. She blended the two when she made her crossover album, but in actuality Selena's first language was English.
she would of been and I'm my opinion she is in, Michael Jackson, and Whitney Houston tier of Legend. G.O.A.T.

Her death is really one of the worst ones to hit the Mexican/Chicano community. Such a beautiful, talented and a great role model for the younger generations. We miss you dearly Selena 🖤
there was something about selena that just grabbed my attention she was special r.i.p baby girl
The best thing about Selena we should all learn from is that she never thought she was above everyone else and wanted to be equal to everyone around her. That’s one of the main reasons i love her so much
Can you imagine it's been 21 years ? 😥 we will all miss you Selena!
Her death was the only death ( besides robin williams, but even then)I cried myself to sleep. I was 7 and I still remember her , she came to midland ( west texas ) I got to hug her and she complimented my hair and I hated it I hated my curly hair, but she said it was so cute. I never judged my hair after that I straighten it still, but I also keep it curly most the time.
Side tracking.. But, yes when she died Yolanda didn't just kill someone.. she killed the dreams of mexican girls who knew she would make it. She was making it everyone was already knowing her and she killed her . It was so painful and still is. We lost our idol the women that made us feel " She did it, we can do it to !" We still can do it and even though that bitch hurt us deeply all us mexican women who succeed and are inspired by Selena will always rise up and we will be what she made us feel like we could be. Her words are my inspiration , her music is what helps me during an art block. I became an illustrator and I know i've got a hard road, but having her as my idol and remember her and her words get's me to go.
Even in death she inspires. She is just a true angel. If I ever get my dream come true first thing i'mma say is " I'd like to thank Selena for showing me that a mexican girl can become someone amazing. That we are amazing. ."
Shit i'm starting to cry. I didn't even mean to click on this video ;;;_______;;;
Joe Benitez Worse i'm still here, but I live in Odessa... *hello darkness my old friend*

Bruno Mars singing Selena lol nice. She was amazing
She spanned cultures seamlessly. Some of my favorite memories are singing & dancing to Como La Flor & Bidi Bidi Bom Bom with my very White friends 💃🏼 We didn’t speak any Spanish, but still knew all the words.. I still vividly remember hearing on the News we watched in homeroom when she’d been shot. A few years later in ‘99 our prom theme & song was, Dreaming of You. That’s still one of my favorite songs of hers. 🌹
Selena was straight up Texas when she said she would be working at Whataburger lol!
Lol true
Everytime I see the movie, damn it, I cry at the end when they tribute her. Never fails.
Dreaming of You and I Could Fall In Love are her two songs that has and will never leave my playlist. Beautiful soul.
She was a class act. Her performances were clean, family oriently. 25 years later, and im still shaking my head over her no sense murder.

Everyone remembers Selena, exactly how she wanted to be remembered. She made such a positive impact in a lot of people's lives.
its crazy how Selena and Aaliyah have similar facial structure and attitude, or maybe its just the hair, idk and unfortunately they both died during the hike of their career, :(
Both were beyond beautiful & ahead of their time.
