I feel like the RMC RetraK was not the best choice for this ride. They should have gone with the Gravity Group precut retrack. This would've helped the ride significantly.
I have a feeling the bigger issue was that they don't want to be dealing with a wood coaster in Florida humidity anymore and it'll eventually get converted to full steel.
You can get it much faster at night if it's running consistently. Still not running as good or fast as it was back in its prime though. Our take was earlier in the day with a mostly empty train.
I rode it at night. It's not as rough as it used to be, and it goes so much faster than this video shows (probably because it was taken at daytime). Also, I didn't really hear that noise when I rode it.
Depends when you rode it. It was much smoother and faster a couple years ago. Friction on the wood slowed it down over time and the new track hasn't improved pacing.
@CoasterHabitat it's also due to poor train maintenance. Last time I was there the black train had no airtime and was way slower and rougher but the red train ran faster like normal. Funspot doesn't care about this ride at all for some reason.
Definitely a lighter/emptier train. Transitions between the retrack seems to hamper the momentum, speed, and smoothness. Hopefully the transitions will smooth out or they will finish the retrack.
@@CoasterHabitat I genuinely don’t understand why they didn’t just install GCI steel track. It’s smooth as butter on white lightning why not just retract the whole thing? Very strange and fun spot seems to be the only company doing it
Im a person who can tolerante some roughness. And i was exited to hear it was retracked before I rode for the first time a few days ago. But I was a bit disappointed when I rode because I’ve heard good things about the ride. And yes it was intense with good airtime. But it was INSANELY rough that after 4 rides I couldn’t do it anymore that day. They seriously need to give that ride a full retrack because the start and the end is not enough for me
Glad to hear it still had its speed and intensity for you. It seemed like the track transitions cut into the speed early after the retrack. Maybe it was too early in the day.
@@CoasterHabitat yes your correct. I rode once in the afternoon and Got a train for myself and it crawled over the last few hills. It really does feel like the roughness does affect the speed a bit though to be honest
Can't win every time, this and lightning rod have seemed to be misses. Maybe when fully retracked they can put Wild Moose Trains on the ride to the help the experience. Maybe then it will be smooth and not as noisy.
Unfortunately yes, I raved about this coaster when it was newer unfortunately weathering and wear and tear have not been kind to this coaster. Unfortunately the new track seems to point out the rougher sections more and the transitions are not the best.
@@CoasterHabitatonestly, they shoulda just titan tracked the whole thing. I feel like RMC retrack wasn’t the best for this. Or just have GCI retrack it with wood, White Lightning is doing grea t
The addition of the square wheels really improved the sound effects of the ride experience.
🤣
this thing looks like an absolute death trap, and i think that would make it terrifying to ride. love the aesthetic.
Agreed
It was a great ride in its prime and the lights and night give it a whole different vibe.
Love that they kept the trains with steel wheels to create that runaway train effect. Very cool.
rmc did a great job
i really hope one day it improves because it was great when i rode it in 2018, at that point i think it may have been my favorite wooden coaster
First time I got on it I thought the same thing. Amazing coaster for the small footprint.
@@CoasterHabitat did this refurb improve the experience at all? Or do you think its still just as bad if not worse? Maybe it needs new trains

Which is interesting because White Lightning doesn't seem to have aged as badly and it's right down the road.
It was probably a package deal with arie force one though
Or gci titan like white lightning
@@CoasterHabitatWhite lightning got rough in 2020 but was given a full retrack in 2021
I hope they change the bearings and give the train some paint soon.
I couldn't tell if it was bearings or new wheels for both types of track. It definitely comes through in the audio though!
@@CoasterHabitat I think it's bearings as you hear them more in the positive G sections
@@OutdoorsWithShawn Is that an explosive coaster?
Just rode this a few days ago, the pacing is insane! RMC killed it. The sound is theming get with it
Wow this opened in 2017? Looks old affff
I’m assuming it’s because it operates at a smaller park that doesn’t want to spend money on cosmetic maintenance
Going on this in a couple of days. Is it really that slow towards the end? And is it as rough as everybody says?

man they need to grease something on that ride. it sounds terrible
