- Traffic at the Santa Monica, CA Civic Center 2/21/72 and the only concert video from back in the day. Note - In response to popular demand, I upped the full version, now that RUclips allows more than 10 mins: • Traffic - The Low Spar...

Stevie Winwood blows me away. All of Traffic incredibly good, a marvel. Yes, 40 years on, never get sick of this song. Whole damn repertoire good!
Whenever I hear Traffic, I think of my late brother, who introduced me to them. It's 43 years later now, and now, as an adult, I realize the genius of Windwood and the magical combination of each person's talent that made this music, often dreamy and contemplative, to kick ass rock. It's hard to believe such artistry lived in these boys.
almost 40 yrs. never get sick of this song, great live version
Best quality ive seen of this performance!
I saw them in the Sporthalle in Cologne 1972 with some friends, 1982 the bongoman Reebop lived in my apartment at the Brüsseler Platz for some days! Traffic you was great!
That whole damn album is good !
What a great Song!! My father got me into this band Perfect song to sit and just Chill out to.
Great memories to this classic....saw them at the Spectrum in Philly, 1974 IIRC. Their 8-track's got lots of air time in my 67 Bug 8.)
I saw them when this came out and Leon Russell had his Carney Album out, Leon was the opening act and he did three encore's. What a wonderful song.thanks for the video.
Musical nirvana to me anyway...Remember going into a big rock show back in '77 and this was sound checking the PA system...Everyone was just sizzling to this groove and beat...Its been my anthem for years...
@rayjr62: The bassist here is David Hood. He and the drummer you see here (Roger Hawkins) are the rythym section for the legendary Muscle Shoals Band. There isn't enough room on this thread to list how many smash hits they played on. It's mind- boggling. They were hired by Traffic just for this tour.
... would you ask for something like another chance ... a groove that has stood the test of time ... ethereal ....
Wish youtube had a "love" button.......
I recently inherited this album from my late sister, in the original, pink, parallelogram-shaped album jacket. I'd rather my sister was still around, but her bequeathal of this classic vinyl to me helped soften the blow her passing has dealt me.
Same here my friend. My late sister gave this gem to me when I was 12. I studied it for weeks. I have it framed in her honor.
words don't do this justice. saw them with Gordon and Gretsch. fabulous, magical music. Fairport Convention and Taj Mahal opened. will never be forgotten, even 50years later.
omg how is this even mellower than the studio version??? blowing my mind
1st convention center show Feb 73 @ TCCC . I forget who they were fronting for I was blown away so much with Winwood & Ginger Baker on drums & the sax player. We were 2nd row looking @ Winwood. Long time before "Higher Love" lol
This is when music was real!! People today, learned from people back then....
Introduced to this by my older brother Rick. I was about 11. Still Mesmerizing
Awesome line-up! Saw them 1 year later in SF at Winterland. Free opened that evening (1/25/73). I was just a week shy of 18....
+Russ D I saw the same line-up in New Orleans, Loyola Fieldhouse w/ Free. When the show was over and the doors opened, half of New Orleans got high. One of the most memorable concerts I experienced. Winwood is a Master Musician!
Did I listen to this song about some several thousand times? NOOOOOOOOO!
It was a few more thousand times more!
I saw Traffic at the Capital Centre, Maryland in 1974, there will be no times like the 60's and the 70's, sorry kids, look back to where music came from and the 60's and 70's is where it';s at!
Roberto, College Park, Maryland
@highhats11: Trust me, it's Roger Hawkins. I'm a huge fan of him and his band. I know his whole life story. Are you a drummer? Listen to "Land Of A Thousand Dances" by Wilson Pickett. That's Roger Hawkins on drums. One of the greatest drum breaks in history.
Thank you..:)
Pure genuis...
This song, kicks ASS. Good, 40 years ago, good today.
My friend said we are going to Nassau Collesium to see Traffic . You will know the songs when you hear them . He was right !
this is even better than the studio album version imho
thank you. its better sound quality than the other video but too bad the end is shopped off.
I am amazed by the title of the song The low spark of high heeled boys....i remember roger waters song called The pros and cons of hitch hiking
músiva, lírica y arte de una super banda, bendiciones. Inkaterra 23 de julio 1997
@highhats11 Gordon played on 'welcome to the canteen' & the album this came from, but he left at the end of '71
Gordon killed his mother. Sentenced to life in an insane assylum. True

You all will never get this much LSD in your system.
Hi Roxanne!!! :)
people who know me know how much i hate "flutes and saxamaphones in rock and there are precious few times when they are acceptable" this is one of those times..
Definitely Roger Hawkins on drums. Jim Gordon? No way.
was`nt this song about mott the hoople?
It is spelled Winwood,no d in there at all. Learn to spell ,people.
Well the only time I ever wore heels higher than 2 inches was DISCO. But I don't think that's what he means. Not in 1972 anyway. No such thing as DISCO in 72.
go give him a big thank u hug, see he aint as bad as u thought huh ? haha
Damn. How could you cut that off in the middle of Wood's solo? Boooooooooooooooooooooooooo.
