Oh it counts, but you have to split the metal with your nurse.
But I'm more excited to see you two at the winter olympics for bobsledding😂

Hi mate, just came across your video and I gotta ask, have you ever tried adaptive snow-sports? I can’t recommend it enough if you’re looking to get active and learn a cool sport. Even with ALS, you can work with an adaptive instructor and learn to sit-ski and shred down mountains. If you’d actually like to do a marathon in a chair, it could be doable on a mountain like this.
I really recommend looking into it if you’re interested and hopefully there’s something close to you where you could give it a go this winter. Let me know how you get on!

Interesting idea, thank you! I loved skiing as a kid in Connecticut, went every weekend. I’ve seen some videos of people doing it, although none of them were on a ventilator. With breathing through a tracheostomy, however, I don’t have a nose and mouth to warm the air up before it reaches my lungs, and I am not sure how my ventilator performs in sub-freezing temperatures.

@@AndrewWithALS I had responded to this but I guess youtube deleted it because I included an email address for an adaptive org in CT.
I think it will definitely come with its own unique challenges but for adaptive instructors thats a constant part of the job. I doubt it will be something they’ve never encountered before. You seem like a great guy, very easy going and understanding. I’m sure they’d love to work with you to find something that works for you on the mountain.
Best thing you can do is get in touch with your nearest resort that offers adaptive and ask the questions. Would absolutely love to see you shredding this winter!
Keep me updated please if you do decide to pursue it man, i’m invested. 😁
