    No need to cut up the gray anchor on the air injection solenoid to plug the air inlet box. Take a plastic valve stem cap, use a hot blade to mushroom the open end, shove it into the air inlet box hole with a little RTV... it will already be a tight fit if you use the right cap... mine were std and they were press fit.I would also suggest you put a small plastic bag with Ty-Rap on open elec connectors that are the result of these mods.

    thanks for the video, was able to do the installation myself. Question, minute 20:20 would not plugging that hole affect the intake air pressure sensor that is located close to it? I have this issue where the RPMs go up and down, engine stall when coming to a stop and idle issues, and am thinking that hole not being plugged might be the issue. The issue was there before I installed block off plates. I noticed the unplugged hole while installing them.

    Hey Van, I have a 2017 ZX10R with a full Yoshimura Alpha T titanium exhaust system (cat removed) and a sport air filter. I kept the stock air box and had the ECU mapped tuned with Woolich software. The bike runs great but as you pointed out back fires a bit. My main concern is the idle. It flucuates quite a bit. Can you disable the AIS system on a R1 in the ECU after it's already been flashed? Installed these after I got the ECU flashed and didn't realize it would throw an engine light code. I realize you can throw on a servo buddy to eliminate the code but I'm trying to avoid opening up the whole bike again.

    • @sportbiketrackgear
      @sportbiketrackgear  Год назад

      You can disable this via the flash software if you are using FTECU. I would imagine the others would allow you to do so as well. If you do not have access to the flash software yourself you could also install the HealTech Yamaha YZF-R1 04-23 PAIR System Eliminator then clear the codes. Here is a link to that on our site: www.sportbiketrackgear.com/healtech-yamaha-yzf-r1-04-20-pair-system-eliminator/

    • @Thomas-A-K
      @Thomas-A-K 6 лет назад +3

      Code gone. solved it, it is not enough to just disable the AIS on 2017 model. You also have to disable error code P1400, FTecu confirmed this as well. If you do what I did and remove the AIS before flashing the ecu, you will need an diagnostic tool to remove the error code.

    Hi Van. First, THANK YOU VERY MUCH for doing these videos. They are a tremendous help with mods on the new R1!
    At about the 20 minute mark you talk about cutting the grey plug off the AIS system and plugging the hole in the bottom of the air channel. I recently had my gearbox recall done and while they had the engine out they installed my block off plates for me. However they forgot to cut off the grey plug and plug the hole it belongs in.
    My question is: How important do you think plugging that hole correctly is? If I don't plug that hole could I suffer from any fuel-air mixture issues?
    Thanks again Van!

    • @sportbiketrackgear
      @sportbiketrackgear  9 лет назад

      +cartmen34 That is a pretty important step in the process. The bike won't function correctly unless that cap is installed and the system is closed again. Sorry that happened to you, I would see if the dealer is willing to put it back in!

      +cartmen34 I didn't want to cut it so I pulled the whole thing off the motor of the valve. it's like a ring that wraps around it. no one can see it and it doesn't hit anything. but it slips right off the motor and you can insert the plug in the air duct. I don't see it actually needing to be there. it's just a hole in the airduct and it's before the filter. guys are removing the flapper up farther and leaving the hole for it (it's way bigger) open.

    • @cartmen34
      @cartmen34 9 лет назад

      +blue03r6 thanks for the tip! I already got in installed back in place. I was able to do it without having to pull the tank and airbox. I have pretty small hands (apparently) and there was *just* enough room for me to squeeze my hand in between the frame and radiator on the right side. Took a bit of wiggling and working around but managed to find the hole with my fingers and get the plug installed.

    • @sportbiketrackgear
      @sportbiketrackgear  6 лет назад +2

      No such thing as a dumb question my brother. You do not need to empty the tank before removing it. A fuel injected bike (all of the modern bikes) will not allow the fuel past the pump when it is not running. That said you can leave the fuel in the tank when you remove it and not without having it leaking all over the shop. I try to do this when the tank is low because it makes it lighter and easier to handle. - Brian Van

    • @sportbiketrackgear
      @sportbiketrackgear  6 лет назад +1

      Block off plates need to be installed when you replace the stock exhaust system with an aftermarket full system that eliminates the cat and exhaust valve if one is used. In order to get a good tune in the bike and reduce the popping and such on deceleration common after installing a full system you need to remove the air injection system and cap off the holes on the valve cover with block off plates. Removing the AIS prevents the introduction of unwanted air which skews the fuel air numbers when you are trying to tune the bike. - Van

    • @sportbiketrackgear
      @sportbiketrackgear  5 лет назад

      On the R1 if you plan to install the block off plates I would recommend flashing the ECU as well. The Flash Tune stuff for the R1 is very good (Graves partnership), the performance benefits really make a difference and help you get the most out of the mods you are making. To answer your question I think you are ok on the 2015 but 2016 and up there will be a light. Still I would advise doing the flash. - Van

      I am not able to comment on fuel mileage as I have never really paid that any attention. It is normal to get a little popping on hard deceleration. If the plates are installed incorrectly it will sound like there is engine noise in the upper half, very pronounced and hard to miss. - Van

    • @sportbiketrackgear
      @sportbiketrackgear  8 лет назад +6

      +yousef adel Basically the emissions system you are removing adds more Oxygen to the exhaust to lower the rate of emissions from your bike. This is done for a number of reasons but the importance to our customers is that when you add the Block Off plates to your bike and have an aftermarket exhaust it will run more smoothly as the engine is allowed to breath naturally. Additionally if you wish to have your bike Dyno-Tuned the block off plates will allow the "Sniffer" to get an accurate reading. Thanks for the great question!
