  • Hip Hop beatmaker Tac Robinson gets his first earful of the traditional Irish/punk rock sounds of Flogging Molly. We shot this on St. Patrick's Day eight years after "Devil's Dance Floor" was shot at the Hollywood Palladium. Tac receives a proper flogging from the video and takes a shillelagh to the skull a few times.

For an initial introduction to the band, I felt that being able to view a performance gave a much clearer scope of the band over just hearing a studio recording. For someone not familiar with the band or the genre, being able to see the show itself and the people attending it usually gives a broader idea of what the band is all about. Hopefully it will lead Tac (or others) to check out some of their studio work. But I hear ya, I also prefer a studio recording myself with a clearer sound. (On the other hand, about 50% of our viewers are listening to our videos on a tiny 1/4 inch cell phone speaker, which doesn't really give optimum fidelity.) -Dr. Smith
