- First time out with the boat. Still new with gas and going through the break in process.
Trying and experimenting with the gas side of the hobby and will say it’s an experience to me and found it enjoyable to being different then electric.
Hull
Rico racing stock mono hull 48in
Speedmaster hardware
26cc 2 stroke engine
Built for stock racing in Namba
New experience and learning to which I enjoy.
Hey ! You didn't have to go swimming for her !
To me thats a Win 😎👍
Not a bad first run. With some tuning you will get that way faster. That hull with that motor will run mid 60s and smooth glassy water is the slow water for a gas mono. Some nice chop and it breaks the water tension from the hull and will gain 5 to 10mph depending on hull and engine. But not bad . Welcome to the gasser club brother. 💪
@@charlesseda1127 thank you! I do agree with water conditions, being smooth.
For the first run wasn’t bad at all and I’m interested over time how the performance will change once everything breaks in and loosens up. New journey and experience and count me in the club. LOL.
All my engines like 13-3/4" on the exhaust using zippkits method. Needles 1-1/8 on the high. 2-1/8 Low. No break in necessary. Just run it. It will loosen up on its own. My zippkits SS does 60mph with a 29.5cc I modded myself for reference.
Great first run , ensure you have plenty of foam flotation inside the hull.
Nice man, great build, 👍
I use chainsaw saw oil , for the oiler
@@paintendaveextremecollisio8057 that’s a good idea. I may give that a try as being thicker and tacky
Sounds like you have the carb pretty dialed in on the low setting..
After a couple tanks.. I'd Lean out the oil mixture..if you haven't already. Nothing more than 50:1
I Always try and run the highest possible octane in a 2 stroke engine to reduce predetonation at high rpms
I've found over the years... Best oil for high rpm in a 2 stroke
MAXIMA CASTOR 927
for moderate to high rpm
MAXIMA SUPER M
She sounds amazing for first run without any bogging under load!
Great bench set up!!! .. Getting her out on the 1st run and being able to do what you just did!.
Very well done!
@@JANDRMARINE thank you and for my first bench tune of a gas boat I was impressed.
I will definitely keep that in mind with those changes. I did have a plan, running a few tanks of fuel and start leaning out the carburetor more as well playing with the pipe length. Good place to start at
@mad_lizard she looks and ran really really well for a Maiden.. I've had one boat.. No matter what I've done to her.. She just never wanted to run..
Turned out the something broke inside the cylinder and was dancing around in top of the piston.. Destroying the head.
Sometimes 2 strokes can be hard to troubleshoot.. Since they're a type of engine that "wants to run".
I love anything 2 stroke.. Especially water toys.. "Mixing has & kickin' Ass"
I have three 2 stroke gas boats and multiple full size 2 stroke marine application engines.
Feel free to reach out if you need anything!
I'm. Really looking forward to seeing her run again!
Got to use grease on the flex shaft
