"Would you like to make your own game? With your own music where you would be free to do anything, and if so, what would it be?" That'd be my question.
Hell yes! Been waiting for this one. If you still want more DOOM, Rip & Tear is one of the best on the whole OST. Aside from that, may I recommend The Last Array song from the Destiny 1 OST? Your videos are awesome Tony, keep it up!
You should check out David Levy's tracks for Doom Eternal's DLCs, particularly Immora. Levy is primarily a drummer, and bulds his tracks around the drumming.
i love when you're smashing your chest and talking about the rhythms and stuff during it with the sounds, hope your chest don't hurt too much by now hahah
You do amazing Doom Soundtrack reactions, I think a perfect idea would be to react to At Doom's Gate and Hellwalker from 2016 (Harbinger is another top track of the OST) in a single video and go from there. Doom Eternal has some incredible pieces too, Meatkhook, Cultist Base, Gladiator, Super Gore Nest and some other I can't think of now.
I would love go to see you react to the crazy process behind creating the Doom soundtrack. Mick Gordon has a talk on GDC with all the fun and all the nerdy, as a music producer I think you would appreciate it
@@DrumRollTonyReacts seriously agree with this... His story about "no guitars for Doom" from the developers is pretty funny... Think it's from a PAX Panel... His stories about some of the Killer Instinct tracks are arguably even more crazy... Flute of human bone... taught himself to throatsing... Smashed a piano with a sledgehammer to make "drumsounds" for his idea of a werewolf tearing apart a classical orchestra while playing... Unfortunatly, I can't remember where he tells all the Killer Instinct stuff... listened to everything surrounding him and Killer Instinct, so it's a bit fuzzy... Do remember him sharing a picture of the bone flute on social media (Twitter?) and saying something along the lines of "Don't know if I wanna put my lips on that".... He's a legend, and gives himself 300% for his projects...
if you like doom music but want a less metal experience, definitely go to the ultrakill soundtrack, my personal favorites from there are cybergrind, ORDER, sands of tide, a shattered illusion, and Versus. all of these are probably very fun on drums, idk tho cuz i dont play drums. and especially, very heavily recommend, from the newest : Deep Blue. deep blue manages to feel super calming yet super powerful and violent at the same time, and its simply amazing. tbh all of the ultrakil OST is amazing though, and its even more amazing that its almost entirely made by just one dude. either way im probably missing a lot of insanely good songs in my list of favorite ultrakill OSTs, but i know for sure that the ultrakill OST is my favorite soundtrack of any game ever.
8 months late on my part, but cool thing about this song, it includes a riff from DOOM3, which in itself was a riff taken from the TOOL song Laterulus. The opening and bridge of the Doom3 menu theme also take from 46&2 and Parabola. Quite the evolution!
I love how stupid low the tuning is (and managing to sound as clean as it does). 9 string (A standard with the low F# tuned to D1 and the low C#1 tuned to A0)…the only other song I can think of that has actually tuned that low was on Spasm by Meshuggah (mind you, they did that in 2002), but still I can’t really think of bands that have seriously tuned lower than that (tbh, this is where the clarity begins to get a bit lost, so I feel realistically this is probably as low as we can comfortably go)
I don't play this kind of games, but I always watch my brothers playing coz of the great music they have. The first one that catch me was Quake II Thanks for bringing such a variety
About music that react to player action, i remember that the differents themes from DMC5 that you've heard are actually evolutive in game based on your combo score. Like you got the voices only after reaching S rank if i remember correctly (from D to SSS) I'm only a dev but that's sound so difficult to do : creation, composition, mixing etc.
Im consuming your content like a cold beer on summer, amazing analysis. Another Doom great song,in adition of the other recommended above, could be Súper Gore Nest.
I feel the title "Flesh & Metal" is a good clue on what's being experienced. The combat in the game is very visceral and physically traumatic from a hellish array of cutting and explosive instruments of extreme violence. If I could make a guess on the thought process in this track, is like what the physical trauma would sound/feel like from the enemies POV when you hear the 'punches'. Everything else is chaotic movement.
I hope one day you can check out Guilty Gear Strive's OST--the title track, Necessary Discrepancy (Ramlethal's theme), and Let Me Carve Your Way (Zato-1's theme) are sonically some of the most interesting compositions I've had the pleasure of listening to for a video game
I would actually suggest you look into his Killer Instinct music too... It's much more varied, and shows that he has crazy range also... Mick is a god... THE god of music... Of course... it's a fighting game, and it's about violence, so many of the tracks are still metal... But there's SO MUCH MORE there... "Lycanthropy" (Sabrewulf's theme) is classical "Hinnamotoom" (Thunder's theme) is tribal-ish "Touch me and I'll break your face" (Orchid's theme) is EDM "I'm back to rise" (Combo's theme) is hiphop SO MANY options... many more... And of course a lot of different "metallic" tracks also... taught himself to throatsing for "The Tiger Warrior" (Jago's theme)
I know your doing Doom here but i want to throw a recommendation out there Destiny 2 ost namely: “beyond light main theme”, or “gambit theme”, or “the first disciple”, also not to forget “Deep stone lullaby”. These are a few from alot of other great themes (:
I think it would be cool if you researched "adaptive soundtracks" in video games and made a video on them. I get the gist of it but don't understand how you can write music to seamlessly blend in what seems like sometimes entirely different songs depending on whether your character is idling or actively doing something high-octane. I'm pretty sure it's not just "electronic" either, I'm pretty sure I've heard classical tracks used in games that react to gameplay without issue.
Doom in particular uses the middlewear Wwise from Audiokinetic, it's full of super useful and creative tools to help make interractive and adaptative sound design and music. The music tools allow you to set tempos and measures that make those kinds of transition a lot easier to deal with than if you had to manually code it in. If you're interrested in the subject I highly encourage you to check audiokinetic's youtube channel. Their blog is great too if you prefer to read informations related to specific projects and games rather than general tutorials about the middlewear.
@@DrumRollTonyReacts Replying to you so you can see my response to Latvian9514 since you seem interested in knowing more about composing for interractive media, I forgot I can't tag someone in a youtube comment without replying directly.
This track is only an arrangement. The game music change with your playstyle. If you are just wandering, the sound is calm and ambiant, but when you start fighting, that accelerate. But for Doom 2016, try BFG Division, and for Doom Eternal, The only fear is you.
you should check out "at doom's gate" then the new doom eternal version. theres no official ST, the best one on youtube is "Doom Eternal Unoffical Soundtrack: Intro Cutscene" by THE CYB3R FOX
3rd times the charm, id recommend the guilty gear strive soundtrack. each character has their own full song and the games main song, smell of the game is great
If you want to listen to something different, I would want Cathedral from Subnautica: Below Zero. The music from that game is super amazing and it builds the environment so well by virtue of being so open and mysterious.
ruclips.net/video/RGA4PilHdr0/видео.html This is the best compilation i found, tho it could be kinda long 😅 It doesn't have timestamps but the songs are placed in order in the description. These game has a funky-techno-future vibe and its very loved by the fans, you might like it :). If anybody finds a better video to react at please reply :)
Dunno if you look at comments but if you want a Mick Gordon facemelter here is an unofficial mix of the hardest parts of 'Rip & Tear' you can find , almost no respite with this one: ruclips.net/video/0R17jGipMOE/видео.html
you should react to a theme for a character from league of legends called jhin, it's like a symphony and a gun asmr together, a very unique experience for me at least.
Please react to The last song from the Drakengard 3 ost! It's an amazing piece, and in general the Drakengard and Nier series OST best video game soundtracks in my opinion.
Can you turn off premières? They are flooding my subscriber inbox. You can just set videos to come out at a certain time without having it be a premkere
⏩ Video Question: If you could ask Mick Gordon any question what would it be?
For live content catch me on Twitch. www.twitch.tv/drumrolltony
"Would you like to make your own game? With your own music where you would be free to do anything, and if so, what would it be?" That'd be my question.
Would love for you to react to red alert hell march
@@notffreak That is a good q
Which of your songs is stuck on repeat in your head
You gotta listen Meathook track from Mick, YOU GOTTA, the energy delivery is CRAZY.
Rip and Tear first tho ^^
@@SKIN_5KIN As much as I like Harbinger, I'll admit it doesn't have a lot in it and is kinda repetitive. Especially compared to the rest of the OST.
Hell yes! Been waiting for this one. If you still want more DOOM, Rip & Tear is one of the best on the whole OST. Aside from that, may I recommend The Last Array song from the Destiny 1 OST? Your videos are awesome Tony, keep it up!
Thanks! I will check that out soon. I am def in a Doom cycle here haha
If he does listen to Rip & Tear then it must be the six minute version instead of that official ost that is 4 minutes long. Its so much better
That version of rip and tear is so good they keep taking the video down so I think he’ll just go with the ost 4 min
Soneds like the guitar is trying to fight the other music 😂😂😂😂
Please react to Rip & Tear arguably one of the most violent song I have ever heard in my life, would love to have your professional insight on it.
I am looking forward to that one. I feel like it has to be towards the end of my Doom exploration as it sounds like its # 1
Flesh and Metal is much more violent imo. At least much more heavy and dirty.
I've been loving these, I also definitely recommend Hellwalker from the same game if you want the full chainsaw effect.
Highly recommend "Damnation", also from Doom 2016. Kind of an underrated track IMO, but it's super cool!
I always felt that that part at 7:06 always sounded like shotgun shots and the fast ones are the mg, the pauses are the reloads
You should check out David Levy's tracks for Doom Eternal's DLCs, particularly Immora. Levy is primarily a drummer, and bulds his tracks around the drumming.

DOOM BABYYY.
Thanks for this reaction/breakdown. I would also recommend Cultist Base and Meathook, both from Eternal

Fun bit of trivia for you. This track in Doom 2016 is based on the Doom 3 Theme song.
I would love go to see you react to the crazy process behind creating the Doom soundtrack.

It's actually analog electric sounds, which sounds a lot better than just digital.
A few I would recommend is Rust, Dust & Guts, BFG 10k, and The Only Thing They Fear is You (old and new mix)
You have to do rip and tear next from the doom 2016 soundtrack. ITS A MUST AFTER THIS ONE!
