A resistor in a step down convertor is not efficient while batteries only are used. A resister induces load when the load ultimately should be only the light.
Hello mate I going to make plastic kit 7 ships and all of them going to have led diode. And I want to use 12v adapter for connecting with one adapter all 7 ships. There will be around 50 led diode. Only one resistor is enough or else there will be voltage drop and the led won't glow enough

Why it's on the negative side of the. Battery
It doesn't matter. But the negative side DOES supply the electrons.

If we use more than one led than which oham resistor we have to use?
Basically the red led needs 2v and 18milli amps max .if voltage is exceeded the led will be burnt.but we have 12v then we have to decrease the voltage to 2v then we need resistor. Calculation
(12-2)v =10v
Current of led is 18ma =0.018a
Current of two leds = 0.036a
Resistor value for two leds = 10v/0.036a
=305 ohms
=350ohms ( round figure)
I took 350 ohms resistor because it is available and taking more than exact value is good to use

Supply voltage - led voltage. Take that and divide by how many amps the led draws. This gives resistance needed.
