Never been to a gig, never will, too many bodies, too much emotion, but you can feel the joy, that dude whistling, i do that on the piano bit too, love it❤️👍
I had the chance to see them around then, too, but I declined the invitation for complicated reasons. Would have been an awkward situation, but part of me still regrets not going to see them, since I haven't had the chance again. If they ever make it back to the States, it is on my bucket list for sure.
@@impactfoto I know what you mean. I missed out on going to Glastonbury in the 1980s and seeing The Waterboys 'Fisherman's Blues' album live for complicated reasons.
Just saw The The in San Francisco this past Thursday. Absolutely amazing show and DC KILLED that solo during "Uncertain Smile." We were already blown away by the whole show and Matt's interactions with the audience, but that song went seriously next level!
My step-son was there too ! He said the show was "Amazing", Matt sounded great, the band was awesome and the pianist was incredible doing the solo in 'Uncertain Smile'.
Thanks for posting this, Charles Slane! Saw them in Boston the other night. As amazing as the piano solo appears in video, it is beyond words when seeing it performed live (of course). Thank you to all the musicians and artists who make make such a difference in the world with their shared gifts and talent. XO
I promised myself I would not watch any tour videos as I am seeing them in Detroit on Friday. This will be my 5th time (have not seen them in 17 years) and I am now so incredibly excited after watching this video I don’t know how I will manage to wait 4 more days!!! Ahhhh.. Thanks for sharing (even though I only record 40-50 seconds of a song as not to bother those around me and to physically enjoy the concert experience). Lol 😂
I can never understand why people go to gigs and talk all the way through performances. The same guy in audience who you can hear talking right way through then cheers for start of piano solo only to start talking again?!?
I was at this gig and you are right. After the first few numbers some people just lost interest and talked through the rest of it. Like why the fuck are you here? Wouldn't you have a better time in the pub?
I went to see The The in Manchester some years ago. Was the worst gig ever for audience chatter. Was like trying to listen to a juke box in a busy pub. I've not paid good money to listen to disinterested, drunk wankers!
Soooo beautiful... Great original writing / performance by Jools, perfect fit for Collard's distinct voice; like the best song in the world sung by an angel. LOVE IT!!
I saw this tour when it was in Boston. Guy on keys did the same thing, getting up leaving the keys and hugging band members. I was like, "get back to your keys." Amazing show. Does anybody else hear similarities to Rondstat's Heatwave in this song?
Strange kind of gig it was some highlights but somehow never quite caught fire. Still good to see Matt back and hopefully a new album will follow at some stage.
Well the last time was acoustic and the setlist blew. Nothing will compare to The The vs. The World shows (only got to go two out of the three nights they were in Detroit) and then the Dusk tour was AMAZING- then the acoustic tour was crap so I am hoping they will amp up for the few U.S. dates. Fingers crossed 🤞🏻
DC Collard is GODLIKE GENIUS
Piano Man nails the absolute legendary and euphoric Jools Holland piano awesomeness. I was afraid he may not.
Spellbinding song. Timeless
His name is DC Collard
he's a beast
Excelente y única, me trae recuerdos , demasiada imaginación para crearla y muy buen gusto.
Sounds pre recorded
Never been to a gig, never will, too many bodies, too much emotion, but you can feel the joy, that dude whistling, i do that on the piano bit too, love it❤️👍
Maravilla
This is my all time favourite song 👌🏼
Me too but can you tell me how the the arent a household name imo one of the greatest 80s band interested to hear your opinion tnx
I think, me too.
1983 was a great year for musicians like Matt.
Lloyd Cole, prefab sprouts, tears for fears, the smiths, Hoodoo Gurus.........
I saw them in Liverpool as a wee boy in 93 during the Dusk tour (Johnny Marr on guitar) abs deadly concert, their music still stands up today...
Gorgeous 😍
I saw The The awhile ago, it still gives me chills how awesome the show was
The wildest piano solo ever. It's like 2 different songs combined into one.
I saw The The twice in 1989 on their Mind Bomb tour . Absolutely fantastic 👍🤘
I had the chance to see them around then, too, but I declined the invitation for complicated reasons. Would have been an awkward situation, but part of me still regrets not going to see them, since I haven't had the chance again. If they ever make it back to the States, it is on my bucket list for sure.

Just saw The The in San Francisco this past Thursday.
Absolutely amazing show and DC KILLED that solo during "Uncertain Smile."

Wow! Wish I had heard they were touring, and that they came here to California. Hope they do it again.

Amazing live version of one of my favourite songs...
Thanks for posting this!
Who are the eejits talking through this brilliance?
I just saw them tonight in Toronto. Great show! The piano solo was riveting.
My step-son was there too ! He said the show was "Amazing", Matt sounded great, the band was awesome and the pianist was incredible doing the solo in 'Uncertain Smile'.
What an absolutely shitty name for a band. The fuck is this shit?
You're calling this music shit ?
@@missamanda7798 The whole concept Matt created went right over your head, didn't it?
Jools Holland did the original, but this guy played it note for note; chord for chord.
Thanks for posting this, Charles Slane! Saw them in Boston the other night. As amazing as the piano solo appears in video, it is beyond words when seeing it performed live (of course). Thank you to all the musicians and artists who make make such a difference in the world with their shared gifts and talent. XO
We were in Boston too, and the pianist is amazing as you say.
This song is amazing
Just brilliant, saw them at Leeds Union on this tour, the solo by DC was blinding then too, he had the knee up on the keyboard at one point.
Saw them at The Albert Hall and the Brixton Academy. Watching and hearing this solo live was spellbinding.
❤❤❤❤❤

Some people are dead shits!!
They just live to hear themselves talk
Hope I get to see you perform this live soon !
brilliant Matt Johnson. such a great song :)
Talk about doing something justice live!!!
Johnny Marr is the best guitar 🎸 player....second best to my pal..
D.C. ! THAT is a busy left hand, Jules may have written it but you nailed it.
Amazing!!

Me too.
DC Collard what a beast
Wonderful band. Hopefully more gigs to follow..... I haven't seen them since the "Naked Self" tour.
Pure magic
Jools would have applauded that keyboard solo (-:
