We REALLY need to come together and agree on how to classify "DLC" in announcements and when it's appropriate for genuine excitement and feedback from gamers, too often teased and let down by simplistic terminology that has gone on for too long... and yes "Expansion" is guilty as well.
To me DLC is cannon ingame to fallout, CC content is not so no a free dlc, a free ccmod

At least expansions back in the day felt like getting some extra bang for your buck. The current-era tend of DLC has tainted what 'expansion packs' used to mean.

@@tbounds4812I’m going to play devil’s advocate and say it isn’t Bethesda’s job to make sure unofficial and unsupported third party content functions properly in their game.
Does it suck that an update messed with script extender and a whole bunch of other hooks? Yeah.
Is it really all that bad? Not really. You can rollback and even prevent updates. To avoid this if you really just can’t wait for the mods to get updated.

Meanwhile the Children of Atom and their love of radiation is clearly a safe and healthy ideology which must be protected at all costs.
But you know why they are doing this don't you? It's because FA4 was the last most stable and complete game of the series that they could quickly bring up to date so everyone watching the TV Series that have never played the game could get into something.
They didn't do FA76 because it's still today a mess.

I've been planning a new playthrough for a good long while actually, so this puts a smile on my face
I'm so excited for Downtown Boston to stop crashing. I was set to do another run of this when the base game got the FPS boost, but it was still crashing constantly and I stopped.
Todd looked at the Fallout London release date and said "Nah"
mods most likely still work luckly bethesda games arent as mod breaking as rockstar games even most mods back in the day that came out when the game did still work and then i mean mods that never got updated thats the good part about the use of seperate ba2 files only mods that get affected are script mods requiering f4se in that case we just need to wait few days for f4se to be updated

Thank you Bethesda for not increasing the mod limit on consoles. I definitely love that I can have only like 5 mods before running out of space. ( what other sarcasm can I insert lol )
For real. I run America Rising 2 and all of the necessary add ons and compatibility patches and it takes up over half of my already limited space. Really unfortunate but I see AR2 as an essential addition to the game at this point.

What they need to do is increase the mod data from 2GB to 4GB as well as push up the number of mods you can have from 150 to at least 250 or 300 if they want us install everything from creation club.
the mod limit is actually 254 for large mods typically marked as .esp or .esm (which includes DLC and CC mods) and for small mods marked as .esl, the limit is a huge 4096, but yeah the .esp/.esm limit should be doubled

@@Oswaldo_Godoythe biggest problem is the ridiculous low 2GB.
Its hard coded into the game for consoles and upgrading would cause corruption for knows how many players with 100 plus hours invested into a playthrough.
If they were ever going to change it, now would be a great time, especially with the new native versions of the game being released for console. With next-gen consoles, the limit should be increased anyway, just as they did with Skyrim when they bumped it from 2 to 5 GB (and again by increasing the number of plug-ins with the update that recently happened.) Sure, everyone's reserve space would have to be wiped and LO's would be lost, but that's a small price to pay to gain more space. Plus, I think most console FO4 modding faithfuls would be re-doing their load orders anyway if they had a shiny new hunk of space to build around. It's still possible that the plugin amount increases - they didn't say anything about it during the latest Skyrim update and it surprised a lot of us when we realized we could suddenly go over 150 mods on Xbox. Increasing the actual allotted reserve space is a different ballgame though, and we may have to wait until "Fallout 4 Anniversary Edition" in 2030 or whatever. Probably around the time the next Elder Scrolls comes out... (and even then, a reserve space increase still may not happen.)

too stubborn and cheap to allow more than one project at a time. There's zero reason it should be taking this long on any of their projects. Even CDPR is adding more dev teams to work on multiple games at once.
Everyone in the game industry that knew how to make games and had been doing so for decades has diedz retired or moved onto smaller self-owned studios.

These problems for down town Boston crashing all the time is too much
Down town Boston is the bain of my F4 play throughs. At first it isn't that bad before the Brotherhood or other major stuff hasn't started but afterwards I might last ten minutes if I don't enter a random location. Even then I'm lucky I don't tank upon entering, making me potentially loose ten-twenty minutes of progress. So if this does help my Xbox One S then I'll be decking more mutant freaks for the Enclave. America Rising 2 is a must.

Don't forget people to block the update on Steam if you have mods as this update will break some mods guaranteed not just script extender. Also go into the Steampps folder and set the appmanifest ACF file to read only as that will guaranteed you will not have the game updated. An extra level of protection is to copy your entire Fallout 4 folder so if anything does happen you have a copy of the current version. If you mod Fallout 4 heavily on PC there is nothing this update offers that is better than mods so don't take the risk.

I just hate the mandatory creationclub content my skyrim special edition still bugs me about the aniversery edition every time i boot it up.
Give me the option to say no to things like how you can disable certain dlcs etc if you want to play a fresh game without having dlc content pop up the minute you hit lvl 13.
Bethesda used to give you that option something i appreciated over new vegas dlc's handing you a grenade launcher at lvl 1 even if you disable the gun runner dlc.
But this mandatory insert stupid mod quest no one asked nor cared for is going to get anoying fast.
I expect them to basicly drip feed the club content as i expected from how they did skyrim until they finally release fallout 5.
I guess i'll go hit up a modder and see if they are willing to make a creationclub disable mod for a couple of bucks.
One thing I forgot to say is that you will have to set the appmanifest ACF file to read only every time the Steam Client updates as whenever Steam updates its launcher any changes are reverted back. On top of that for anyone that is on the fence please remember that some mods are stated as no longer being supported, others are not on Nexus anymore and some have not been updated for years. Point is that you cannot guarantee some mods will ever be updated, of course it depends on your mods but this is the main reason I am not updating as I know if some of mine do break they will never be fixed. The best thing is to block the updated and then see how your mods are affected, if they get fixed or people say they still work then go ahead and update, if not you have to decide if your mods that do not work and more of less important than the update.

the crashing downtown on survival is brutal on series s, i would always kill everything downtown then do the main quest lines knowing those brotherhood helicopters would be coming and really mess things up.
The Black Devil, Enclaxve Power armor quests was broken on my last playthrough. As part of the quest I had to enter tunnel but the area where the armor was supposed to be in, was blocked off. It was like settings pieces of the area changed by the DLC and the regular design overlapped.
Let's hope they fix the crash problem that comes with having all dlc installed

If you are lucky enough to be on PC, just turn of auto update and launch the game through the Fallout script Extender. If you have the space, just make a full backup of your FO4 folder with mods just in case something does get screwed up and accidentally updates your game. delete fallout, move backup back in place and keep enjoying the game without Bethesda bullshit shoved down your throat. If you are on console. well...........uhmmm.... time to join the PC master race or suffer for your ignorance? ;-) ;-) ;-)
would hope that they would do a prior version (the current one as of now) beta on steam, but that's probably too much to expect for Bethesda.

Great news! I started Fallout 4 for the first time last night after binge watching the TV show. Was pretty disappointed to know that the game release as it is doesn't run at 60FPS on PS5, so this news is very welcomed.

Probably, but since Fallout London is PC exclusive it's a non issue to not update. Just like most people modding are still on Skyrim SE 1.5.97 and cant be bothered with the later updates that screwed up alot of mods. No matter what mister "i know best" "lord and god" of the non essential Unofficial Skyrim Patch AKA "This is my vision of what Skyrim should be" now bend the knee to Arthmoor says.

@karstenelkjr2540 after you use that setting as long as you Launch it from F4SE or your Mod manager it won't update. It will only update if you launch it directly through steam

I’m excited. I’ve been meaning to do an enclave/evil playthrough of fallout. This will be awesome
you can't side with them they're not to be joined with. you will destroy them. just download the mod "America rising 2" if you want the enclave faction. this update will bork f4se and most of your mods if you have any.
I have over 500 plugins on my current load order, all CC content bought pretty much. One of my favourite games to play and mod is FO4. . Great community that has solved pretty much every issue the game has and honestly some of the best community content too, the quests, the weapons, just so much fun to be had with modding.... It seems a shame to break all the mods with this update when its not needed :/ Many mods are still in use but abandoned for years...its gonna destroy a lot of mods and load orders.
What kept the fallout franchise alive all theses years is the community and modders.

A week? No no, some of the mods will be busted and will never work again. A lot of modders have moved on so this spells the end for like 80% of the mod space.
Hopefully we’ll be able to join the Enclave like every other faction in Fallout 5!
I’m replaying rn and I actually just found both the piggy Bank and the baseball launcher. SOOOOPER cool stuff. Loving the update so far.
I don't want creation club content polluting my game. Same thing happened to Skyrim when it got the anniversary update.
Hoping it won't be the case, because that's what finally got me to completely uninstall special edition, because I didn't want content I'd need to pay for being installed on my rig.

I can’t play in downtown Boston at all without my game crashing. It’s been that way for years.
Calling it now, this is no DLC but simply a patch for modern consoles and Ultra Wide screen support. And just so it wouldn't be as bad as it sounds - they will unlock some of the mods for free. Don't expect anything more than that.

Two days before. Make no mistake, Bethesda chose this date to be assholes, this update being as simple as it is should not have been delayed in Decemeber. Anniversary upgrade for Skyrim was better than this garbage.

Finally bought it for XB1. I was pissed over a 42GB update I had to wait well over 12 hours for. I forget the actual time, it kept increasing. But that's after installing the base game in like ten minutes. Then I learn I somehow received the game on the same day as this update I never heard of prior. An update I could not schedule for later, it is required to play at all on XB1. An update that's allegedly like 20GB, with no explanation why it was twice as big for me, twice as big as the game itself too. Then I find out it didn't even install the DLC I bought, I had to search for them one at a time on the store. I have had a hard time lately and just wanted to play the game the same day I got it, and in typical Bethesda fashion, they found a way to upset me again. I'm worried I won't even be able to use mods after my first playthrough. I did have a brush with Enclave and got destroyed in like 5 seconds so maybe it's worth it Idk.
I really hope the Cryolator has a beam attack attachment like it did in the concept art.
if theyre already going to be breaking 90% of mods in everybody's load-orders why not also increase the mods you can install on xbox or playstation. it is restarded that you cant install even the same amount of mods as skyrim.

As per the video, most mods that will be breaking involve F4SE which isn't available on consoles to begin with. Most console mods should be fine

You know, playing a Chinese version of fallout must feel really wierd
I've wanted a DLC set in China for a long time. If only the Chinese submarine were the beginning of a quest (Slow Boat to China, Shanghai-ed?) where you would travel to China and have to deal with the descendants of old enemies and maybe of Americans who were trapped there when the bombs fell. Yes, a morally and emotionally difficult quest line would be great, but I mostly want the package of Chinese architectural elements and objects for my settlements.

CDPR hired an entire separate studio for that next-gen update. I totally understand the criticism, but the budget of that update was WAY bigger. I wish Fallout 4 was getting something like that
It really is a lot of work to add more voice lines. They'd have to dub the new lines into six different languages.

Wonder if they're gonna overhaul the actual implementation of the CC quests like they did for *Skyrim: Anniversary Edition,* where the quests no longer activate the moment you arrive in the overworld, keeping your quest log clutter free.
Still a bunch of notes and journals to read through, but it was still an improvement.
As for the lore-breaking crossover stuff that was just added to your inventory, like the Doom and Prey armors, just dump it into a chest in Hubris Comics or something.
They could reset the load orders as long as it doesnt mess with the downloads themselves the order can always be fixed

i got every fallout game from that mega fallout sale during march i think, so i think im probably just gonna go back through them starting with fallout 1. hopefully i can beat fallout 4 before the update drops.
Conveniently, I was playing my PS4 version on my PS5 a couple days ago and noticed when I looted a boss item it showed "unable to find" what perk the item had. I also noticed my DLC such as Far Harbor and Nuka City were not showing up. I restarted the game and that was the last time I was able to boot into the game. It now crashes right before the main screen. I've uninstalled/reinstalled cleared the cache, ran a rebuild and every variation of uninstall/reinstall. I'm really hoping this new update will fix this issue. fingers crossed.
Fallout is ALLOWED in China?!?!! That's a huge shock. There's not a lot of western games allowed in China, because of politics and one where China is the main enemy of the game? Eh.

i'd love to know what mods you are using @JuiceHead, those gun and enemy mods look solid and look like they are part of the fallout world, as opposed to the more modern gun mods i have seen recently.
My theory and ive tested this a little bit with various things is that creation club items cause crashes and slow downs in down town Boston area thats the only time I've have problems is when I have creation club items equipped or in my inventory

@@laser-tw8zy It is worth, it's not too big. I run it alongside Lima Detachment and Atlas Summit, along with a bunch of other mods that improve gameplay, and increase clothing and weapon variety. All on Xbox.

Hope the devs of the mod are fully aware of this and that people really want to play the mod and decide to release it at least one week before this update fiasco, otherwise very little people would be able to enjoy it before it becomes unplayable two days after, let’s try to reach out to the team and convince them to release the mod ASAP, we only have 2 weeks before mods and load orders get nuked

It's called Boston FPS fix or the newer PRP mod, that's offcourse if you are on PC and not on console, then you will jsut keep on suffering.

That area is always buggy. Every fallout game from 3-4 has an area that’s really buggy. Fallout 4 is Boston, Fallout New Vegas is literally New Vegas itself, and Fallout 3 is in a dlc being an area in The Pitt which causes a player to fall through a roof
Well Bethesda still doesn't fail to disappoint, so at least they show consistency. What about the FPS drop in some areas of the commonwealth fix? The 4k textures? Update game and break all the mods just for this? I won't update that's for sure...

@@BreandanOCiarrai Steam does give the choice only to update when you attempt to run the game by it's exe, I use F4se loader so steam can't upgrade nothing because I'm not using it's exe, if you do the same you have no problem.
what mods are being used in the background footage? specifically whatever seems to be making the base game weapons look so much better

@@Cookiemuncher-vn4rl Most maintained mods will be fixed in a week or two. Unmaintained mods will likely either be remade, or patched with permission from the OG creator. That's just how the modding community works.
I dont remeber much of my first fallout 4 playthrough, but one thing i hqve. A vivid memory of was my first ever legendary.
An exploding pipe revolver, i got it at a single digit level, and it stayed with me fomy whole playthrough. Its my beloved and has made me start using revolvers in any game i play.

I was hoping they would fix the settlement building system to allow players to sink items into the ground like fences, and to have a bulldozer affect that removes grass, rocks and small bushes preventing them clipping through the floors.
Game update is a bunch of stuff that already exist as mods 💀

I was really hoping this update would be more in line with the skyrim anniversary edition/upgrade plus some of the take aways updates the got from starfield like 60+ fps support for pc. guess we can hope we get a 10 year anniversary edition next year 💀
Another thing about the modding community to consider is; since FO4 came out before the creeping death happening (2020), some of the modders may not be able to return, if you get my meaning.
