Hey guys, sorry for pinning this comment on all videos but I want to give you an update on the channel. I've been slowly adding a show archive to the videos including a full transcript added as sub titles and a full track listing (with links to RUclips videos for each track). Pilkipedia archive link has been added as well and I've been having fun illustrating some of KP's best bits, I'm adding these to a shop incase anyone is interested: www.man-moth.com/ It's taking me a while to update the archives, especially as I don't work Mondays so please bear with me as I chip away at it. Lots of love, Man Moth.
During Songs of Phrase I crack up each time the "Chiiiiiineeeeeese" clip starts, the fact that he had to reuse the same clip from a previous Songs of Phrase revealing his ongoing obsession with all things Chinese makes it so much funnier. Such a unique bit of comedy. What a treasure having these three together was.
There's something very honest and open about these episodes too. They basically say whatever they want without repercussion. They swear, they talk about gays and Chinese people. This would NEVER fly on a radio station now, the cancel mob would be out in full force. The best things about these is that it takes you back to a time that was genuinely simpler, back before the entire world went to complete shit. But they're also completely timeless. Nothing like this will ever happen again, it's just totally unique.
I'm struggling with homelessness. Bouncing in-between AirBnBs, couches, the closet at the bike shop I work at. These shows help me get through. These are saving my life and my sanity. I got a college degree and was born into relative privilege - but sh*t happens! This is the best show ever cause I can just forget and let go of all the bullshit. Love you guys 🖤

I love Karl's restaurant anecdote justification. Anytime he's describing someone's freaky physical abnormalities he's like "it's ok to talk about cuz if I had to point them out to a waiter it's what I'd say"
It's nice falling asleep to these, and even though it's, like, my fourth run through of them I'd completely missed about 45 minutes of this episode. New content! Sort of...
I first listened to these shows on xfm when i was struggling with my mental health.this was genuinely my therapy for a few years.dont think anything had ever made me laugh more.thanks ricky, steve and karl.big up father ted for same reason.
These have got me through lots of stuff. I can concur, genuine belly laughs years later. They were the company and warmth I was personally looking for.
Bradley Eeles why would you even bother saying that? I been reading the comments on these vids for a while and you're pretty much the first one to write something like that
As a North American (Canadadian) I love that these boys were playing Kings of Leon way back when they weren't very famous! They have a great taste in music

“Look at his little monkey hand, when I’m going for the black!” This is one of my favourite shows, from Karl slagging off Victorian women, Ricky and Steve discussing what they’d bring to Radio 1
"What it is, it's something like, right, you're only 16 but you look 26, and the Chinese look older than they are or something because he said that the Chinese don't age well! That is mental Karl! It's the most convoluted, ridiculous, RACIST... Piece of material ever to be uttered on radio!" "Play it again!" One of my favourite moments from these shows.

And Ricky's comment in one episode, "If it has anything to do with the Chinese I'm sure Philip Bailey will be involved"
@@ReachForTheSky "he's never got so many royalties being used in racist game shows"
there's something so relaxing about these. feel like you can forget about the world when you listen to these.
Classic Covid-19 listening.
Hphenomenal: How relaxing.
Ricky: Hold my AHAHAHAHA KARL YOU IDIOT

The Best Songs of Phrase. Hands down.

“Foo Fightaas”
I was low key quite proud when Karl said Aphrodite & I love Ricky's reaction to it- he was so close!
25:00 the return of Holy Fook. And when Steve describes 'Dirty Old Queer' as modern and contemporary I almost died.
Wah-Wah OOPS!

I’m pretty sure Derek precedes these XFM shows.
@@andrewmay1299where was Derek's first appearance?
@@andrewmay1299 Derek started in 2012, these were recorded 10 years prior
Derek originated in the early 2000s, way before the character had his own show. I believe it was at the Edinburgh Fringe.
Ricky’s deadpan “Brilliant” is my absolute favourite thing about these episodes🤣

Stephen’s “if you’re a lady of the enormo persuasion” during the leggings discussion is gold.
"who just spent a billion pounds in dixons."
Best Songs of Phrase ever!
Owen V-H It's a close second for me.'You never see an old man eating a mars bar bar' is my favourite!
Thanks to that I can never takes Life on Mars seriously! haha.
The chineeeeesse LOOK!!
TheBusterMan maaaaarrrss BAR BAR BAR 😂
No it’s “Galileo don’t talk to me about science please make me television” always makes me laugh
I adore Karl's use of the word "popular" when he means to say "common"
Karl’s sigh when Ho Li Fuk returns is brilliant.
The "he's not sort of well 'ung" comment at around 6:35 may still be the funniest thing I've ever heard (and I've heard these shows many many times).
I think the 'half-man half-biscuit' thing is all I need to lift me up.
"Wot I'm sayin is... If it's all about arse.. Why don't gays like a little bit of tit?!?!" XD
“Too much Lyin’ low”
Yeah, but.... not Shakespeare
The Pauline Quirk mentions always make me laugh
I knew you were gonnna mention Quirky
One of the best episodes for sure. A proper classic. Ricky and Steve are on point!
"Chiiiiiiiiiineeese, look, oldeeer!"
Rickys phone call to Chris moyles is where Derek came about, amazing
I love that Steve considers sneaking off into the woods to have a waz to be 'rock and roll' :P
his standards are different, haha
it's about the only activity that won't get his glasses knocked off.
"I know you're just 16 but looking all of 21, that's because the Chinese look older".. Haha. Yes, Karl!
That'll be up there with "wassup" and "shut that door," if they do a poll.
Really shows you how long Ricky has been working on his Derek character
Too bad it's a downright bad and borderline offensive character. That show was garbage, Karl's role was the only funny thing in there
+Dan Holomý why is Derek borderline offensive?
don't agree that its offensive, do agree that its shit

28:41 one of those hilarious little underrated moments
As a North American (Canadadian) I love that these boys were playing Kings of Leon way back when they weren't very famous! They have a great taste in music
Elbow, in this episode too, they're 'household names' in the UK and Australia too.
They had a playlist. It wasn’t up to them.
28:42 It's the little things in this show that I love the most, like how Ricky talks here and how he imitates the Magic DJ at 29:48. And every time I listen I'm amazed at how clever Karl's joke about the spectacles is.

“What, was she an engineer?” 😂😂😂

13:02 "Aw for f..." I love it when Ricky does that xD Such genuine frustration that expresses.
I've developed a habit of saying it when things go wrong aswell, it's great
Jake Williams
It certainly is a nice release of steam when you get frustrated.
Cheers for all the uploads, man moth! As far as this episode, that was the craziest songs of phrase ever.
Nuie Corbeau You're welcome! And, yeah... it's a belter "The Chhhiiiiiiiinneeesseee"

The greatest Songs of Phrase EVER!!!

I love how Karl thinks a monkey could operate a spaceship but doesn't believe one could type Shakespeare at random given the time.
Well a spaceship only has two buttons. The 'left button' and 'everything else'
Karl never understood that the monkeys represented randomness. He thought they were consciously writing Shakespeare
