Armada is the first game that introduced me to table top games. Its easily my favorite, I love the fleet battles. I really hope it gets a new lease on life
I got into X-wing first, but only to tide me over until Armada released. I just wish AMG would release the Acclimator and Munificent as single ship packs!
It's Imperial Assault for me. The long form campaign action in the Star Wars Universe is basically unique for IA. It's also fun to paint and comes with several different game modes. Tons of fun.
During the pandemic, my family bought and collected a lot of these games, but Imperial Assault was our absolute favorite. So many adventures and stories that kept us busy and we're dusting it off again due to the massive community support that this game still has.
I started getting Imperial Assault when I found a base set on massive sale, within a couple months I’d found every expansion on sale or less than MSRP on eBay or gaming websites. Took several months but finally got all of the Imperial, Independent and Rebel expansions painted, plus a starting team of heroes.
I've always been at a cross as to whether Legion or Shatterpoint is my favorite. I love Shatterpoint's focus on named characters, but Legion is an awesome army builder which is always fun, too.
X-Wing was just soo easy and fun to get into. Easily my favourite to date, but there have definitely been competitors. Legion, with its additional "Special Operations" rule set, just makes it soo accessible and versatile.
tough to argue this list. I've always loved Epic Duals, to the point I used to keep a copy in my trunk just in case. The Queen's Gambit is such an awesome game. Fighting in the different arenas that can impact each other. the secrecy of which Queen is real. Winning the Maul vs Kenobi and Qui-Gon. just so good!!
I have a similar feeling! It’s really disheartening to see so many awesome characters in Shatterpoint that we still don’t have in Legion! Legión is my favorite!
Star Wars Armada is the Chosen One for sure. I've played more than two thousands games and i've organised hundreds of tournaments. I'm handling the two Canadian Worlds Open Qualifier and BOY, organising our community is as much fun as playing.
Love all of these, faves are Rebellion, X-Wing, & Armada. Also like Imperial Assault and have tons of the expansions. Biggest issue is finding the time and ppl to play them 😢
I would love to see a Star Wars game in the vein of what 40k has recently done with Legion Imperialis, I just don't know if the rebellion really has enough large scale ground units to support that kind of epic scale, but for the clone wars era, it would be awesome
X-wing is my favorite, but until it gets new actual ships it has slipped for me. I've playing it since the beginning. Armada is the actual best game but also not getting support. Legion has taken over my number one spot as it is really really fun and is getting support. Outer rim is fun. I miss Imperial Assault. Shatterpoint is just meh.
i imagine the best and easiest ways to make Rebellion a 4 player game would be to either split the responsibility between Fleet and Ground Forces between the two players, to split the map up into areas of control, or figure out a way to assign the units to each of the players (though the last one will likely make it incredibly confusing to manage.)
Armada is the house favorite. Built a deck at camp with a gazebo so we can play day or night, rain or shine. Only downside playing outside are those windy days that sneak up on you in the middle of a pitched battle. Upgrade cards and obstacles everywhere!
I'm all in for Star Wars Armada but I do remember West End's Star Warriors which was enjoyable. Star fighter combat based on pilot's skill level made it more like a board game simulator.
My group started with imperial Assault and had loads of fun, X-Wing died for our group when 2.0 came out we are just starting Shatterpoint and enjoying it
Legion's my favourite. Hits all the major points between soldiers, vehicles and heroes, with loads of room for customisation especially terrain. The only game that's consistently kept my interest
Having only played X-Wing and Armada, (and also briefly Rebellion), Armada's my favorite. I like how you have to think ahead several turns, and rolling a fist full of attack dice feels SO good.
The one time I played Rebellion, I made the mistake of playing Rebels against a guy who'd played the game before. Long story short, Luke got tortured by the Emperor and succumb to the dark side. It was demoralizing.
I like them all. Star Wars CCG from Decipher will always be one of my favorites though it’s hard to come by now, I was able to get tons of stuff for cheap right when Episode 7 came out. Since then I think the nostalgia bug hit all the old players as I can’t find stuff nearly as cheap now. I love Imperial Assault but it’s hard being an adult and getting enough people to have free time to do a campaign. I own most of the original trilogy era Legion stuff but I haven’t used it since I want to paint it and it’s much easier to paint before complete assembly. Armada is great but no one seems to play it, I hope to someday do a campaign with a close friend. I used to love X-Wing but I don’t even know how to play anymore since the overhaul, I really with they wouldn’t have done that. I have no idea about Shatterpoint, I feel like they just made it so they could sell you more minis after Legion has covered pretty much all the units from the two Lucas trilogies. If it grows and becomes pretty well received I’d probably dive into it instead of Clone Wars Legion to diversify a bit. Rebellion is cool though I’ve only ever played one round. Oh and Outer Rim is pretty cool too. I’d need more rounds in several of the games before I could make an objective “best” declaration, but I’d say my favorite is Imperial Assault, maybe Armada.
(Writing when you asked me to at the beginning of the video) I'm going to say Imperial Assault. It has multiple modes (Raid, App controlled Co-Op, GM driven Campaign, PvP with interesting missions and maps)- and it touches on the 'Star Wars' feel better than any board game out there ive played (at least so far). The FFG RPG series might edge it out for me but I do think that's a TTRPG and not a true 'board game' so I'm guessing that's out of the running.
Thanks for introducing many many star wars games. What I play most is Armada, but considering the circumstances, I think Rebellion is the most well made game😊
Just getting into legion, and mainly focusing on the base game / skirmish, but spec ops interests me, the only thing is to make the squads, it’s an odd combo of boxes to buy, would be nice if there was a Spec Ops box you could buy for each army, but if I was a company trying to make money, I’d probably make people buy all the individual boxes.
A friend showed me the Deck Building game, and we got a really good time figuring how to beat each one up. Each time a powerfull card appeared we were either trying to buy it or destroy it ASAP. Regarding the miniature games I'm starting to learn Legion, hope we can have a good time with friends.
The old school Star Wars Pocket Model has always been one of my favs. Is simple, the models were cheap but looked great and the gameplay was pretty fun.
I’ve collected and played 40k, magic the gathering & many rpg’s, I’ve tried silent death and the old precursor Star Wars ship game to the Xwing/Armada, including battlefleet gothic(I’ve never played armada so I’m sure I’d like it), loved battlefleet gothic, BUT… Xwing(2.0) WAS the best game with the dial and measuring ‘stix’ seemed the best. ONLY game I’ve EVER played without an initiative, I like the 2.5 ‘seizing’ the initiative, with the ‘hotshot’ aspect even with pilot values NOW. I DO think ships should be able to shoot whilst on a debris or a cloud or cloud, asteroid(huge ship) are STRUCTURES and probably does deserve a more ‘treacherous’ outcome in game terms. I’d say X-Wing and PERHAPS armada but I also think ‘troop’ movement games play differently JUST LIKE Armada(similar to battlefleet gothic or ANY torpedo/cannon type gameplay) AND Xwing(hot shot space chess, 5-7 turns in a 75min game) are definitely different types of game dynamics. Xwing is simply complex definitely had fun learning with people who weren’t ‘ego’ driven, ie;sportsmanship etc PEACE
I've enjoyed them all though X-Wing is the only one I didn't stick with. Mainly because I just enjoy Armada more and hope some kind of continued support for it kicks off. Absolutely love Shatterpoint and Legion though!
I think legion would be a perfect game if in edition 2 they make the game scale better, different board options to include a walker assault mode, empire get an ATAT to escort, droids an MTT the clones an ATTE, and to pull double duty the rebels can get a captured ATAT, of course these kits would be expensive, but if you gave people the option to buy a model the size of a titan (for those that don't know GW pricing that would be about 650 for the body and then 160 dollars to get your 1 weapon loadout for it, and if you want different weapons its 80 bucks apeice) an ATAT in a plastic kit for even 200 bucks would be pretty affordable in comparison
I think for Legion to have AT-AT, ATTE, Laat/i and other larger vehicles, it needs to be at least in 1:100 scale. An AT-AT would still be 20cm long like the snail droid nowadays.
Legion and Rebellion are tied for me! The army building and maneuvering of legion get my mind racing while the risk esk battle on multiple fronts really challenges my strategic implementation. Both are awesome games!
I dont currently play x-wing, I only play legion.... but x-wing is probably the best star wars game right now. Easy rules, great suppert, easy to jump into. Side note: i also forst saw x-wing on Will Weatons show! I loved that show and watched every episode!!!
Guessing Star Wars: Rebellion. Armada would be too easy. Edit: And I guessed right! We’ll have to get in a game of Armada at some point. Loved the old decipher CCG, still have a lot of it. Tons of great memories from decades ago.
I think my favorite has to be X-Wing, even with it kind of dying off in my area. It just really manages to capture the feeling of playing the old X-Wing/Tie-Fighter games (in particular, X-Wing Alliance!), and I'm looking forward to the point where my son is old enough to start teaching him how to play it so much!
Ongoing RIP for Destiny, think that's still my low key personal #1 SW game. I totally dismissed it until it was already well dead and on clearance and bought the starter for $5. Then I was scrambling to get as many super cheap packs as I could get my hands on (it hasn't quite dried up entirely but there's certainly less stock floating out there now). Love just grabbing some packs and playing a two player draft game, seeing what you get, and chucking some dice. Still need to figure out a way to store it all in a cube format that accounts for the dice, then each player can just grab a couple small packs out and shuffle them up MTG Jumpstart style. Deckbuilding Game really surprised me how much it has its own niche among similar deckbuilding games like Star Realms and isn't just living on the strength of the license. If we get a Clone Wars set that can be mix and matched it would be even higher in the deckbuilder genre, lots of unique ideas that other games are going to steal for sure.
Got lucky and bought the entire Imperial Assault lot from craigslist and as much as I LOVE Legion, this game has yielded the most fun on game nights 👌 Highly recommend
The wife and I played Rebellion and couldn't finish it that night, we were hosting lunch thing with some friends the next day and had to slide the game over to the side of the room and tell people by pain of death don't touch the board. The lads were all like "oh yea fair, tell us about this game" 😆 Armada is great but not enough ship variety and the fighter combat is dreadful, X-Wing is where it is at. Really want to get into Shatterpoint
Rebellion was my first star wars board game and my God it blew me away. So amazing its ridiculous at this point. Then someone recommended war of the ring which is kind of similar and that blew me away also. I still think war of the ring is my #1 but on star wars it's Rebeliion
I’m a fan of legion but I find it hard to get people interested. I don’t have the funds to put together a good team for tournaments, and it’s difficult to set aside the time commitment to set up and play a game.
Legion would still be number 1 Star Wars game if AMG would do a lot more with it. It’s nice we’re finally gonna get new stuff in like a YEAR but half of it is just remolds… but it’s nearly limitless. Could use some new objectives and honestly wish it had some more air support and artillery like the droid proton cannon. It’s nice to recreate battles from the movies. For example why not a ryloth themed wave? Include a Twi-Lek rebels corp expansion with Twi-lek hostages as an objective? They could do the AT-AT and just make it slightly out of scale so it’s not too big and make it take up 2 heavy unit slot. So much potential for Legion to bring the players into the battle but it’s been very slow lately. 2nd or maybe you could argue to be 1st would be Armada. With AMG would do something with it. Truly a waste to not make new stuff with it. Us Separatists and even the Republic players are basically screwed when it comes to options on what to run.
Play more Legion than anything else, but you nailed it: Rebellion is the best Star Wars game, especially for original trilogy fans. With the expansion, it lets you play the story spanning Rogue 1 through Return of the Jedi.
Having seen some of the enormous models games workshop has put out, I don’t see why and ATAT, MTT or AT TE can’t be done for legion. But I do think amg won’t do it and cite such units as “too big”.
I'm hoping you're going to go with Armada, as that is the most balanced and fun. The miniatures look great, the game feels strategic, but doesn't feel like it has loads of "oh you missed that trigger, sucks to be you." moments. I'm still split between X-wing 2.0 and 2.5/2.6. I think some of the rules changes are a little bit better, but the missions aren't great and the lost building system is now very dumb. Best star wars video game though is Dark Forces!
I don't know if it's the best, but I got a lot of mileage out of Star Wars: The Game of Life. It had a fun take on the Dark Side, where the "Dark Side" paths were the shortcuts on the board, but if you didn't commit to going full Dark-Side, you'd get penalized at the end -- and if you did, then you got to face off against the strongest Jedi character with all your skills accumulated (like Life tiles).
The 1st edition is the best and most fun Star Wars games and indeed, tabletop miniatures game I've played. I tried the 2nd ed and didn't like what they had done to it and saw some of the rules for 2.5 and I wouldn't touch that. Armada is 2nd best followed by Legion.
I'm a big Armada fan. It's a great take on naval wargaming, with many more playstyles than you might expect
Armada is the first game that introduced me to table top games. Its easily my favorite, I love the fleet battles. I really hope it gets a new lease on life
I got into X-wing first, but only to tide me over until Armada released. I just wish AMG would release the Acclimator and Munificent as single ship packs!
Same I have the same story
SW Rebellion and Armada are probably my faves. I've had some fun times playing those with my brother.
It's Imperial Assault for me. The long form campaign action in the Star Wars Universe is basically unique for IA. It's also fun to paint and comes with several different game modes. Tons of fun.
X-wing has been my love since it came out. As far as board games Outer Rim is a lot of fun.
Pre-AMG X-Wing is my favorite game, but I’d say for games in their current iteration, Armada is definitely my favorite.
During the pandemic, my family bought and collected a lot of these games, but Imperial Assault was our absolute favorite. So many adventures and stories that kept us busy and we're dusting it off again due to the massive community support that this game still has.

The Queen's Gambit is such an awesome game. Fighting in the different arenas that can impact each other. the secrecy of which Queen is real. Winning the Maul vs Kenobi and Qui-Gon. just so good!!
I have never been able to find it at a price I can afford
Back in the day I loved playing the wizards of the coast Star Wars miniatures game that uses a d20.
I think legion is definitely the best. I really hope that shatter point doesn’t over take it
I have a similar feeling! It’s really disheartening to see so many awesome characters in Shatterpoint that we still don’t have in Legion! Legión is my favorite!
I started with x-wing years ago, and it ruled my gaming time for many years.
But armada has eclipsed it now. So much better!!
#1 armada!!
Star Wars Armada is the Chosen One for sure.
I've played more than two thousands games and i've organised hundreds of tournaments.
I'm handling the two Canadian Worlds Open Qualifier and BOY, organising our community is as much fun as playing.
Star Wars Legion was my first table top game with minis and it will always hold that #1 spot for me
My #1 is Imperial Assault, #2 Outer Rim. I also played the Decipher SWCCG back in the day. I haven't played Rebellion.
I played the StartWars infinity in a convention and it was a lot of fun. X-Wing is still the best.
Love all of these, faves are Rebellion, X-Wing, & Armada. Also like Imperial Assault and have tons of the expansions. Biggest issue is finding the time and ppl to play them 😢

Xwing, how to you beat those Iconic dogfights
Armada is by far my favorite! Though I'm open to trying a few of the others.
i imagine the best and easiest ways to make Rebellion a 4 player game would be to either split the responsibility between Fleet and Ground Forces between the two players, to split the map up into areas of control, or figure out a way to assign the units to each of the players (though the last one will likely make it incredibly confusing to manage.)
Your idea about splitting the ground and space force responsibilities is actually already in the rules as how to play with 4 players.
I would love to see a The Deckbuilding Game video!
Armada is the house favorite. Built a deck at camp with a gazebo so we can play day or night, rain or shine. Only downside playing outside are those windy days that sneak up on you in the middle of a pitched battle. Upgrade cards and obstacles everywhere!
I have managed to pick up everything for Imperial Assault. Only played it about 6 times, and never finished a campaign
Same here. Originally bought it for painting all of the miniatures. Probably would have passed on SW:IA had I known that Legion would follow.
I enjoy armada personally! Altho I have recently got into legion and that is very fun as well!
I'm all in for Star Wars Armada but I do remember West End's Star Warriors which was enjoyable. Star fighter combat based on pilot's skill level made it more like a board game simulator.
My group started with imperial Assault and had loads of fun, X-Wing died for our group when 2.0 came out we are just starting Shatterpoint and enjoying it
Imperial Assault and X-Wing 1st edition will always be the best for me
I never bothered getting into 2.0, just stuck with 1.0 and still have a lot of fun with it
Legion's my favourite. Hits all the major points between soldiers, vehicles and heroes, with loads of room for customisation especially terrain. The only game that's consistently kept my interest
I recently got Star wars rebellion and i think its super fun, really gets you in the original trilogy vibes
Legion is not only my favorite Star Wars Game. It´s one of the best tabletop wargames i ever played and my favorite tabletop game nowadays.
Star Wars legion hands down the best but I would love to get involved in Armada one of these days.
Armada is my all time favourite Star Wars game. Although really tricky to find players locally due to the high starter price.
My favourites are X-wing, Legion and Armada in ascending order.
I do want to eventually play Rebellion at some point
@Crabbok Play SW Rebellion but the ground battles are played in SW Legion and the space battles in Armada.
One week later you have an armistice.
Armada, Rebellion and the RPG are my top 3
The old school Star Wars Pocket Model has always been one of my favs. Is simple, the models were cheap but looked great and the gameplay was pretty fun.
I’ve collected and played 40k, magic the gathering & many rpg’s, I’ve tried silent death and the old precursor Star Wars ship game to the Xwing/Armada, including battlefleet gothic(I’ve never played armada so I’m sure I’d like it), loved battlefleet gothic, BUT…
Xwing(2.0) WAS the best game with the dial and measuring ‘stix’ seemed the best.

I have that curse as well only it isn't when I sleeve a game, it is when I buy the big box for it! I am so sorry Terraforming Mars and Everdell!
I think for Legion to have AT-AT, ATTE, Laat/i and other larger vehicles, it needs to be at least in 1:100 scale. An AT-AT would still be 20cm long like the snail droid nowadays.
Armada for me. Mostly because I love star wars capital ships so a game you get to fly them around and blow stuff up is a win for me
I think your favorite is armada which I just got into I will say I’m already loving it and i only played one game with the core set
I've been out of the board game life for 5 years and I really want back in. I'm torn between Xwing and Armada.
I actually wasn’t aware of a few of these. Thanks.
I'm big into the board game world but haven't yet got into Armada or legion style games. My favourite is rebellion
I got epic duels in college and it has been my favorite for a while
I think my favorite has to be X-Wing, even with it kind of dying off in my area. It just really manages to capture the feeling of playing the old X-Wing/Tie-Fighter games (in particular, X-Wing Alliance!), and I'm looking forward to the point where my son is old enough to start teaching him how to play it so much!

Legion; always exciting to test builds and strategies against an opponent.
Armada is the best hands down for me!easy to get into, rules get easier as you go and you we’ll love the peace’s as display peace’s very fun! 🎉
100% X-Wing !!!
Got lucky and bought the entire Imperial Assault lot from craigslist and as much as I LOVE Legion, this game has yielded the most fun on game nights 👌 Highly recommend
I've heard you talk about Rebellion so many times that I'm shocked I haven't bought it yet! Need to pick me up a copy!
Outer rim with the expansion is quite good as well
You tricked me! Glad you were objective though. I guessed rebellion, but only just before the reveal
I wonder if they plan on releasing anymore armada expansions or maybe makeing it possible to buy the clone wars core set ships separately
Outer rim is a great game! Just complicated enough to make it fun, but simple which for new players to feel confident!
I actually made a clone wars expansion for star wars rebellion. it's really fun
Star wars Rebellion is the best for me, and I love Imperial Assault too. Outer Rim in solo play is very good
X-Wing was the best, with Armada as a close 2nd. Though, the game that gets the most play in my home these days is Outer Rim.
The wife and I played Rebellion and couldn't finish it that night, we were hosting lunch thing with some friends the next day and had to slide the game over to the side of the room and tell people by pain of death don't touch the board.
The lads were all like "oh yea fair, tell us about this game" 😆
Armada is great but not enough ship variety and the fighter combat is dreadful, X-Wing is where it is at. Really want to get into Shatterpoint
I recently got into Armada(my first tabletop experience) and it has been a blast! Maybe I’ll pick up legion one day since I like army building.
Rebellion was my first star wars board game and my God it blew me away. So amazing its ridiculous at this point. Then someone recommended war of the ring which is kind of similar and that blew me away also. I still think war of the ring is my #1 but on star wars it's Rebeliion
I am new to tabletop in general and have only played Armada, but it’s been super fantastic!!
Anybody else play that Battle for Naboo 3D miniatures game back in the day? The one with that catapult????
I’m a fan of legion but I find it hard to get people interested. I don’t have the funds to put together a good team for tournaments, and it’s difficult to set aside the time commitment to set up and play a game.
Legion would still be number 1 Star Wars game if AMG would do a lot more with it. It’s nice we’re finally gonna get new stuff in like a YEAR but half of it is just remolds… but it’s nearly limitless. I’ve just started playing legion and am really enjoying that so far
Armada takes the cake for me, Legion and X-wing have defense dice which I consider silly.
I haven't played many of the new ones, but Imperial Assault and the Star Wars Deckbuilder are fantastic!
I love Battlefront II of course the OG version, but I like SW Risk too!
Play more Legion than anything else, but you nailed it: Rebellion is the best Star Wars game, especially for original trilogy fans. With the expansion, it lets you play the story spanning Rogue 1 through Return of the Jedi.
Armada, by far and away the best mechanics.
I started with Legion recently. First we were only 2 guys in our group. Now we are five. The force is strong!
X-Wing fan since original wave 3, so I am going to have to go with that
My #1 is Star Wars Rebellion.
I think your favorite is armada. Mine too, but rebellion is also quite good
Having seen some of the enormous models games workshop has put out, I don’t see why and ATAT, MTT or AT TE can’t be done for legion. But I do think amg won’t do it and cite such units as “too big”.
I like X-wing. I started Legion but I don't have to build the models with X-wing.
My favorite is X-Wing, by far. I also really like Outer Rim. Still, the best SW game out there has to be Rebellion.
A clone wars version of rebelion would be the greatest thing ever
I think X-Wing is still the best, but I’m getting into Shatterpoint and enjoying that too.
Obviously the correct answer is Armada 😁
The 1st edition is the best and most fun Star Wars games and indeed, tabletop miniatures game I've played. I tried the 2nd ed and didn't like what they had done to it and saw some of the rules for 2.5 and I wouldn't touch that. Armada is 2nd best followed by Legion.
