- I can't thank Christian enough for submitting this video. It takes a lot of courage to submit a video for everyone to see. Especially when he is doing judo with high-level judoka. I hope everyone is able to learn judo from this type of video. As judoka, it's important to make sure we study judo as well as train judo.

Travis - I think this is my favorite video that I've seen from you. You're really good at this kind of coaching.
Wow, thanks! That means a lot!
As someone who has just started a bit of judo this was amazing to take pointers from 👏🏿
No way, you're that weird gym guy. Hope you make some videos on Judo too! lol
This is great stuff. Thank you for doing this, Travis! "Go big or go home!"
You bet! Glad you enjoyed it!
Hey man I really appreciate everything you give to this community, your videos are definitely a highlight in my day!
Thank!! I’m glad you enjoy them so much!!
he is not afraid to teach the secrets and whats important thank you i lerned alot from a great teacher
You are very welcome
Great video Travis , shout out to Christian for wanting to identify areas he can improve !
Yeah we all owe him a High Five!
Thanks. I really enjoyed that. And thanks to Christian for putting himself on the line publicly.
Yeah we should all be thanking him for putting it out there.
Thanks again that means a lot to both my wife and I, and even more to our very impressionable barely 16 year old son!
👍👍👍👍any time!!

I really liked this review style video. Definitely one of my favorites so far. Thank you for supporting us little guys!
I’m glad you enjoyed it!!
The videos you've posted have been fantastic and filled with tons of information! Really thankful you've posted so much content, I sent in my own competition/randori video and hope to see it reviewed!
Thank you for submitting a video I will get to everyones in time. I have about 10 that I need to get through. I'll make a whole day of and then schedule them out.
Your an Olympic champion for a reason, I really dig your analytical take on this user submitted video. Hopefully, it can be a recurring format.
If people keep sending videos I'll do my best to keep updating them!
Travis Stevens Great, sir! I’ll try to muster up the courage to send you one. I appreciate your reply.
Love this style of video analysis
I'm glad you enjoyed it I hope you found some useful information in it.
This is an awesome idea, Thanks Travis 👍🏻 so so good to get great insight and learn from you.
Thank you that means a lot.
I just sent you one of mine from a tournament where I fought my Sensei first round. I hope you'll have time to look at it.
Thanks for doing these! :-)
I'll get to it around the weekend and get it uploaded hopefully on Tuesday!
I love this new video series, looking forward to the next one 🔥
Thanks. As long as people submit some videos I’ll keep doing it!
Excellent info. Thank you for sharing
You are very good teacher and this type of lesson has got huge value for me.
Thank you for such a kind comment
This is great! Consider maybe doing something like that for some recent (the ones that were not too long ago) judo GPs? One got me puzzled is Dusseldorf U81 final. Khalmurzaev (somebody you know!) vs Grigalashvili. I was made a fool of in front of some of my friends - how was I to know 22yo Georgian kid is going to atomize an Olympic champion with such ease...
You have to take everything into consideration. He is an Olympic Champion in Russia he has a lot of other responsibilities to do now. He is not 100% focused on Judo. You can't maintain your best all the time.
Great stuff! Thanks so much for all the content!
My pleasure! Glad you enjoy it!
Very interesting to hear you talk through these. More of this thank you
Thanks!
Travis! I watched all videos on this channel.Thank you very much ! Amazing work and very helpful. From time to time I check this analysis section for more videos but there are non for very long time now. I implemented better stance ( right foot in front ) , and circling to correct side depending on opponent. My judo momentarily good better. I think this videos of blue belts - to shoudan randori analysis are just priceless. This basics are so important. Why are you not making more of videos like this ?
Hey Sven,
I spent two months building out The American Judo System on USAJudo.com with Jimmy Pedro. That is where most of our break down videos are going to happen and where users can submit videos for feedback. But I do plan on getting some more up here as well!
Brilliant analysis, this is really helpful!
I’m glad you found it helpful!
Thank you so much Travis for doing this, hope to get him back up there to train with you soon.
He always has a place here! If you want me to do any more of his videos please send them over. He has a lot of potential.
I watched this three times so far, I have really learned alot from your analysis. I can't wait to get on the mat again. Thanks, Jim
It will be getting released next week!
I really liked this video. Will you review BJJ matches aswell, Its always good to start off the match by getting those 2 points.
If someone wants to submit a BJJ video I will!
This is gold! I learn a ton with this video, thank you for making it! More like this, please! 🙏🏻
You got it! I have about 10 submission I need to get through. But I'll get it done.
Incredible video.
Thanks! And thanks for leaving a comment I appreciate that.
I really enjoyed this. Excellent insight and commentary.
Really appreciate that thanks!
Travis could you do something like this with Worlds or GPs if there aren't any licensing conflicts? Would be great to see your take on polished athletes, or even breakdowns of matches in your school.
And props to Christian for throwing his hat in the ring like that. We gotta see him in his first round not the 8th go against the Mongolian, want to see that freight train with a full gas tank.
Lol!! I would like to see him round one as well! As for the Grand Prix I can try as long as the content has been put out it shouldn’t be a problem.
I really enjoyed the analysis, I hope you create more of these!
I have about 10 people so far who were willing to submit videos. So I should be able to make a day of it.
Impressive breakdown. Do you also do this for bjj competitions? I just had my first competition as a white belt. I’m also learning some standup from one of our brown belts who is our coach and a judoka. So one day I’d like to try a judo competition
It's funny--just as we learn differently when we spar vs drill, I think we also learn differently when we watch narrated sparring vs narrated drilling! Great content!
I bought Jimmy's first gripping course, and he says (obviously!) the same thing you do about gripping the sleeve side first. If I remember correctly, it's the same reason--you want to stop him from gripping your gi.
Question: Is this the way everyone internationally does it? Or is this part of the American gripping innovation that you and Jimmy have mentioned? I haven't paid much attention to gripping in BJJ, and I've mostly gripped the lapel first because it moves more slowly than the arm. I guess I should change this up. :)
Most other countries focus on posting on the chest first to establish control of the chest which is backward from out style of gripping.
@@TravisStevensgrappling Thanks! That's what I thought. I don't remember ever learning that from my senseis, who were from Britain and Spain. But I'm transitioning to the sleeve side team!
So cool, great video! Does Christian have any social media so we can follow his journey?
You can find him here, Thanks for your support!

First thing first, Travis you got this!
I saw my own faults with this video and your explainations are up to the point! At the first situation is applying your previous video"when the grap you from your back/get over here"🤙
Second as huge as better😂😂
When you point with the mouse can you draw any marks, lines to define the area or the movement of hands?
I’m looking for a software that allows me to draw on the screen but I haven’t found one yet if anyone knows of one please let me know
@@TravisStevensgrappling I don't know what software he uses, but Firas Zahabi draws on the screen. I'll send him an email and ask.
@@TravisStevensgrappling zoomlt is a free software for drawing on your desktop
Let me know what he uses. The software the records tends to only capture the window and not what’s above it if that makes since.
@@TravisStevensgrappling Good point. One thing that I notice about instructionals in general is that they're MUCH better if we can see the coach's face and expressions when he teaches. People tend to retain the information better. The voiceovers just don't have the same kind of emotional effect for learning. All of the really good teachers on BJJ Fanatics--you, Danaher, JT Torres--look right into the camera and tell the students what they need to know. If it's a choice between what you have right now and just the window with drawing capabilities, I'd vote for what you have now. But I'll see if I can find out what's out there.
I haven't heard back from Firas yet. I'm not sure how active he is these days; Tristar has only posted a single video since this lockdown started. I can ask other people too.
👑
how about to make a breakdown of ono shohei ushi mata who agrees?
That might be exciting!
You said left hand attacks, right hand defends. Even as a righty? Don’t I want to grab their collar as that gives me most control over them vs my left hand grabbing their sleeve?
Hey Smash, when you grab the sleeve you might have less control over their body but you prevent them from attacking as a righty all together by grabbing the sleeve. I'll shoot a video on this to help explain our thought process. There is a method to the madness.
Travis Stevens thay actually makes sense, thanks!
Great vid. I wonder Is there any way to pull guard in judo legitimately?
Yes there is and I have done it effectively in high level matches.
@@TravisStevensgrappling Since u are high level in both bjj and judo, would love too see your approach to pulling guard, especially in judo. Could be an awesome video for bjj guys trying to make a move into judo.
knee shield pass please
Oh man thats my bread and butter. I just shot a whole Instructional for BJJ Fanatics on passing the guard while avoiding leg locks. It includes a who section on knee shield passing I believe.
@@TravisStevensgrappling when will you release it?
