This is a great series. I have learned so much from watching these critiques. Fantastic.
Thanks that means a lot i'm really glad that you like it!
I feel like a lot of people forget that fitness has a lot to do with winning at any level. Hitting the weight room is a must in a sport like judo
These videos are great. Expertly broken down. Big fan.
Thanks Cardy that means a lot!
Amazing as always, so many details, so many tips, those breaking down are really goldmine !!!!!! i wish you were able to do one breakdown a day :) . Thanks again for sharing your knowledege and the ways you see the fight are very inspiring (offense, posture, gripping...) . Keep going !!!
Thanks you!
Always great stuff Travis I love the way you break now every judo contest you are right pasture is very important in judo I always work on my pasture when i work out. I am also from the pacific northwest and you and Marti Malloy are two outstanding judokas to come from this region.
Thank you Gerard!!! An yes Marti is a great judoka!!!
Thank you very much. This insights to what you are thinking and what you are paying attention to are invaluable. It's changing my whole perspective on judo
I’m glad you find it a valuable teaching method.
Travis I love these, I'll second what Benjamin said on learning from watching the critiques. I see so many mistakes I've made reflected in these, it's a huge help.
I’m glad you find it so helpful!!
These are the sorts of problems I have, so thank you for putting this out there!
Brilliant analysis as always. I love this channel!
Thanks. I really appreciate that!
Great critique video, takes guts to submit a video of a loss but that's where you learn the most I suppose. I wish I had more recent videos. I believe I only have some tournament footage as a white belt a few years ago.
Fill free to send it over! I would love to see it.
I know these and other videos on the channel have given me a lot of things to think about and work on when I can go back to training. I can't remember anyone explaining the higher levels to me, and if they did it wasn't as well as you do. Now I just have to practice applying it!
David thank you so much that means a lot to me! I'm glad you find value in my channel!
Didn't see that this got posted! Thanks again for covering this, and I'll have some questions for the 1 on 1 video review session that I got from supporting project 2024!
You're, welcome! And check your email Monday I should send you an email then on when we can get that scheduled out!
Amazing!!!! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge! It's really helps a lot!
Glad it was helpful Alex!
Great video and advice. I hope when things get back to normal you keep this series.
I'm hoping I can as well. As long as people submit videos I'll keep it up!
am I the only one who thinks Travis is a real nice guy, on top of being the great Judoka he is?
Thank you that means a lot!!!!
Very helpful something that I had not known is how to develop confidence in ones ability to not be thrown and know how to position oneself thanks.
Really like this.
Thanks Drugat
Travis, I like your material. First time watcher. Would you mind doing the analysis before you shoot the video? That would definitely help.
I don't understand what you mean by do it before filming?
@@TravisStevensgrappling scripting your analysis may just help the video flow more. I don't mean to be over critical.
Also I watched your live stream from yesterday I enjoy how you put grappling together between the BJJ, Judo and Wrestling. That kinda material would be awesome.
I'm still not sure what you mean. I don't know what you mean by script an analysis.. It can't tell them what to send in or what to do wrong. It's an authentic view of me watching and talking about what I see.
Great video! How do I submit one? I'd like you to critique me kicking my cellphone off the mat after it fell out of my gi and almost got me desqualified.
Send the video to videos@judosilencer.com
Nice one, this one.
Thanks!
I love Judo🇮🇳 from india
Yeah, offense offense offense. Still a white belt, but teachers at the Kodokan yell at us during randori if you look defensive or tentative. I learn much more when I'm offensive, even when getting thrown. Unfortunately, cardio gets to me all the time though...
Even if your cardio is bad take pride in who you are and keep your head up and fight the good fight win or lose!
@@TravisStevensgrappling Thank you!
Hi, I originally sent you an email after your first video of this series, but you replied to me saying that i didn’t attach anything in that. I’ve replied to that with the video attached, just wondering if you’ve received it? Thank you!
Micheal I dont have access to the gmail account any more but if you send it to videos@judosilencer.com I will get it and can review it.
Back take from opponents attempted Kesa Gatame seems like a lot of wasted effort in Judo. The osaekomi wasn't called, so no danger and you dont get points for the back take...
Step one is always get out step 2 figure out how to be offensive. Don't try to do both at the same time.
Coach Travis,
At 4:10 it looks like Christian shoots a double leg takedown but White manages to sprawl out. Is that where the shido came from?
Also, at 6:09, you say that he should "blast a double." Wouldn't that get penalized? Or is it okay since White's knee is on the ground? (Edit: I think I've seen some of the international players do this. It's because it's already in ne-waza, correct?)
Also, aren't the refs supposed stop the action immediately when a player touches the leg (the first time at 4:10)?
It would seem unfair if someone grabbed the leg and won by osaekomi or shime/kansetsu waza as a result of the takedown.
Sorry, I'm an older grappler who "retired" long before the "no-leg-grabs" rule, so my knowledge of the rule isn't very good!
I'm actually not 100% sure. They were on the ground in my opinion but maybe that is not the opinion of the refs. But at the same time it's a smaller competition we can't expect things to be called perfectly.
Got it. :)
