This is a quick video of me installing my New CB in my Kenworth T680. I was really easy to do and easier than I thought. The Kenworth is equipped with a cb port or hole. It has everything you need to install a standard size cb.

My Dad was a CBer from the 60s & 70s, we both had mobile & base stations... if you want to fine tune your rig, get yourself a "SWR" meter to fine tune your antennas. I still have both of my radios, I still have & use my 40 ch "Cobra" from 25 yrs ago and she's still boomin out... gd luck to you..
+47 Ronin Thanks. The CB I got has a built in SWR meter. I'm set at 1.0, but only after I grounded both antennas. The 70s was a great era for CBs. I was you but I still remember it. Appreciate your watching.
EMIP TV Yes it was, back then, you had to have a $3.00 FCC lic. just to own a base station, believe it or not, I still have both base stations that my Dad had from 1969 & 1971, and them shyts still work " I've had several offers for his classic 40 ch. "Johnson Messenger Golden Eagle" it's huge... I miss OTR, but I get to live my road days thru guys like you, I hauled flatbeds all across the lower 48s, but I had 2 sons to raise, so I traded a "Cab over Freightshaker" for a career as a "glorified babysitter"..lol
Now I have a son dodging IEDs haulin ass & freight across the "sandbox" for "Uncle Sam"...Keep your head on a swivel & be safe out there my brotha...
I literally just copped this radio. I had the Cobra Chrome LTD joint, but I misplaced the wires, and just said "Fuck it" and copped a whole new radio. They're good investments.
I don't know if my radio needed to be tuned or not, but i could not put out that far. The most I could put out was maybe a mile. But it looked good in my T680 though, so I kept it. lol. On those kenworths get the spot mirror bracket and put a Stryker sr a 10 on that sucker…ohh yeah swr on 1 40 and 20 stays at 1..perfection💪..bearcat not a very good radio tho..get one from Walcott radio custom tuned and peaked they are very good at it and fast shipping

Very happy with my new Stryker SR-955 CB Radio.
I use a 980 and it works great.
go to cb shop get it tuned you think it works good now just wait and they can boost the power on it.
It is a some what decent radio but honestly I miss my cobra 29s

Did you tune the antennas? Different radios usually require the antenna be tuned slightly different, even though the frequencies are the same. I use an external SWR meter, don't trust the ones in the radio. It fits real nice. Looks almost like a car stereo. I have an old Cobra 148GTL in my Peterbilt 379, just bolted in with the mounting bracket that came with it. It still works, but a couple of segments in the LED display went out. Maybe about time for a new one, but I hate to give up my 25 year old radio. I heard the new ones don't work as well. Maybe I should just take it to a shop and get it fixed.
No, I didnt tune the antenna. I did ground the stock antennas though. It gave me an swr reading of 1.0 with the internal meter. It still doesnt put out very well though.

Once an antenna is set,changeing radios means nothing..Calibrateing radio to ant does not mean your tuneing ant at all..
@@DreTrades go to a cb shop pay and have them tune your new cb and your ant at the same time... dude you wont believe what you can hear out their and also ask for a amp to be heard. then next step get a modded mic tune to your radio. dont be afraid of old amps their cheaper than the rest just take covers off and paint them..lol their is also a sting ray mod for it too. that is the amp is place in side the cb. i got close to 130 watts with the bearcat 880 and a amp

If your swr is right less then 1.0 you will be able to get really far more then 5 miles I've been in cb radios stuff for pass 30 years

I got this radio but had a lot of swr false warnings for antenna..swr on external shows 1 so it’s not accurate drove me nuts so I just keep it as a spare and got a ranger top one from Walcott peaked and tuned with a Stryker sr a 10.. I was in the mountains of California the other day and heard base stations from North Carolina .. love the looks of this radio and the ability to change the colors but the false readings just drove me crazy

There is no CB radio ever built that goes by “miles”. The distance you can talk depends on surrounding obstacles and the weather. I’ve talked 100’s of miles at night when skip was coming in and other times I couldn’t even talk 1 mile. You’re such a rookie but I think I like you anyway. 🤣😅🤣😅🤣😅

It does look sharp. Ill give it that. It works well too. I like it alot. Not sure on the range i can transmit though. Was talking to a guy in a truckstop with the same cb. He said he gets a mile and a half. I was hoping to get at least 3 miles out of mine.
If you can find someone with a VSWR meter, they can check the match between your radio & antenna/antennae (if running twins). The closer to 1:1, the better the reception and transmitting. I was into CB back in the early 70's, and got my 1st Ham license in 1987. 73, Dan
So now that you have had it a while, how do you like it? I have one in my Suburban
virgilgray I don't like it that much. I couldn't put out at all. Maybe 1/2 mile or so. Could be because it wasn't turned. I did have a low swr though. What I did like about it is that it looked great up on the dash. That alone made me keep it. Lol.
I Had "Wolfman CB" in Georgia on I-85 North about the 167 exit peak and tune mine for $100. World of difference.

My advice is peak and tweak it
yea go to cb shop the one i went to knows their shit and you will also get more reception ... and once it tune it could push out 22 to 25 watts pf power on its own

Unless you tune the antenna your gonna do more harn than good..Oh wait!! Fl went with an internal antenna again..YOUR SCREWED with what ya got unless you have a good ext antenna set up..
