Heyyyyyyy, from moi in Boise Idaho. Blue Valley, East of town. A desert oasis trailer park with a lake. Lol. 2 lighted fountains too. Its really decent. Thank you for sharing! Be safe .
This is the stupidest thing to do to bring back a wild run. If nothing else a collection system for smolts should of been put in at the dam. Draining a lake that has been there since 1967 is totally insane. These dams were all built with "No Fish Passage". They are used for flood control and will never be removed. It is a shame that these dams were all constructed blocking wild fish from reaching, according to ODFW, Prime Spawning Grounds. The Willamette River had runs of over 500,000 each year, all wild fish. That all first came to an end with commercial over harvest. Then the dams blocking prime spawning areas that supported the large runs. That is never going to come back. Wild Fish groups know that and continue to destroy fisheries in their effort to recover wild runs. ODFW rep told us about a lot of research they had done behind these dams with smolts. Lot of issues that will not be resolved. Then the issue of trucking the returning wild adult fish above the dams has to be very expensive. ODFW for years now has been underfunded and under staffed. A lot of what they did years ago can no longer be done because of cutting their funds and the cost of operating now is so much more. The idiots plan on draining the lake next year and I hope that is met with a multitude of lawsuits to stop it. The only option is to put in a collection system and trucking adults up above the lakes. Also there were protected wild Spring Chinook in the lake that were likely spawning in the streams above the lake. I figure they were killed along with the Kokanee, Trout and whatever else was in the lake. How is it ok to kill protected fish already introduced to the lake to start a wild run?
They removed Condit dam on the White Salmon River a few yrs ago. Was messy at first but now they have wild salmon and steelhead running up in places they haven’t been in 100 yrs. Good.
@@guaporeturns9472 NW Steelheaders over the years have helped with funding and volunteers to fix problems for wild fish getting to spawning areas. One I was involved with was on a tributary of the Alsea River. A culvert was put in with no regard to wild fish getting through it. We put in a rock and metal wiring to form a big pool below where the water come out of the culvert. This allowed the wild fish to rest and then shoot through the culvert. Report we got was wild fish were getting beyond the culvert and spawning in the upper streams. We were involved in another one where a new property owner had to deal with a bridge that was not correctly built blocking fry and small wild fish from accessing the area. NW Steelheaders donated a large amount of money to help fix the problem with a new bridge and removing the blockage. The area later checked and small salmon and likely Steelhead fry were seen. One of the crazy examples of wild fish groups and likely same people involved with lawsuit to start wild run of salmon above Green Peter filed this lawsuit. The Sandy River a dam was removed on upper river. ODFW had started a wild run of Spring Chinook in the upper Sandy River with "Hatchery Fish". Removal of the dam meant no way to control wild and hatchery Spring Chinook going into the upper river. So, the wild fish group filed a lawsuit to protect the wild fish. They wanted the hatchery shut down. So, they were protecting wild fish that were hatchery fish to shut down the hatchery of hatchery fish. The court decision was a cut back of hatchery Spring Chinook Smolts into the river. The returning hatchery Spring Chinook one guide told us isn't worth fishing for because a real low number return of the hatchery stock due to the court order to cut release of Hatchery Spring Chinook.
Ty!
