It's funny how all these clips are forgotten about, buried in your mind, until you see them again and they all resurface, waiting to be rediscovered. That last video was neat for me, since after watching about a quarter of it, I realized that I remembered the words to the song, even though I had totally forgotten about it for over two decades:)
more thanks than I could ever give to anyone ever, you've helped complete my life. That song in the short circuit short has been stuck in my head for exactly 16 years and I hum it at least 4 times a week no exaggeration, I can't summon my euphoric feeling right now, it's like going ur entire life trying to find how u got a certain item and then BAM everything comes together and that search is over. thank you thank you thank you thank you. I hope your life is full of the greatest things, cheers!
i wholeheartedly agree. i loved YTV growing up but now? sure it still exists but they feel so much like Family(disney) channel now that it's kind of sad to think about how they basically morphed into that
I actually had to look up YTV lol. I’m not Canadian so Here in the states we had fox kids, Nickelodeon and basic cable. If you were the “cool kids” you had Cartoon Network as well. Haha
The sad part to all of this is we never truly appreciated these experience until we got older...I remembered yarning to be older so no one could tell me what to do. If only I could go back in time...all I had to worry about was homework and video games
Maaaaaan, this make me so sad. Not only for myself but for the kids these days. I live in Australia now and still talk about these commercials and YTV. I miss these days when childhood was so easy. I WANT TO GO BACK!! 😭
I visited Canada back in 1998 as a kid. Even though I'm from the US, Canada TV felt pretty much the same. Nickelodeon didn't exist there, but the shows that aired on YTV felt just as enjoyable (since some titles from Nick aired there, including non-Nickelodeon shows too).
This is wonderful, thanks for posting this. I get so sad when i look at these things from when i was a kid and knowing that those amazing days are over.
1:28 "Sailor Moon on her moon cycle" has undeniable menstrual connotations I don't think Irwin was intending. I know the kids wouldn't have caught on, but I wonder how many parents burst out laughing when that ad played.
Innuendos aside I think it's pretty funny toy makers would just have completely unrelated merch for the property in question. Sarina/Usagi isn't at all a biker.
The ad for "Sonic 3D Blast" pretty clearly situates this as late 1996, and the station ID marks it unmistakably as Christmastime. But it's weird to note that "Batman Forever" and "Toy Story" merchandise was STILL being heavily plugged 12-17 months after their theatrical releases. The Batman home video sales would have peaked a year earlier. Unless that Sonic ad is 10 months premature and this is really January '96?
3:02 "look out woody, it's crawling baby face" "yeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaahnnnnn" My childhood neighbour friend and I would make fun of that ALL the time. I'm so happy I saw that again 21 years later.
Sweet P That wasn’t a commercial. Back in the 90’s, the broadcaster mandated that a percentage of YTV’s content be something artistic that will educate or inspire creativity for the kids. So they showed these ‘’short circuits’’ before every show, which was usually a 5 minute clip from the movie ‘’Beyond the Minds Eye’’. That movie was a series of psychedelic pieces of early computer generated art. Basically artistic pioneers of the technology flexing their muscle in the new medium, put to soothing and hip music. You can still find entire playlists of that content on RUclips if you search for ‘’minds eye’’. If you were raised on YTV, Minds Eye is pure, highly concentrated nostalgia.
do you remember the show called WEIRDOS? it's a show made in 3d but with that quirky ytv style. been trying to find it but it but it's like it never existed. but i remember it did
even the commericals for are you afraid of the dark and goosebumps were scary. even some commericals and ads ytv would play in the 90s were creepy as shit for a young kid at the time haha
Brian Amesse Dont think that was it. I think Pat was the host at the time and I remember watching Boy Meets World at a friends and little robots kept eating the film and then it went blank...it went on for a while, not just one segment
CanadianWarMachine I do not remember boy meets world being on YTV so I am thinking of a much older episode lol It's still nice to remember none-the-less
There was a thing YTV did in 2001 where little green bugs called "yokomites" would sometimes crawl across the screen, it was supposed to be an "invasion" of some sort. I don't think Boy Meets World was still on YTV at that point though.
Does anyone remember a Christmas Special that YTV showed around this time about A Bear who put Santa to sleep with some...postion and then had to see a walrus to get the antidote? I know it was on YTV cause I remember taping it off there but..I jsut can't remember the name of the movie.

life was so simple back then. thanks for the nostalgia! :)

Absolutely amazing memories wow
PJ Phil was the fucking man
hell yes PJ Phil!
I grew up in British Columbia from 1991 - 2009 then moved to the states, I grew up watching YTV this is so nostalgic I haven't seen YTV in 10+ years
The Short Circutz segment starting at 4:53 is the most vaporwave thing I've ever seen. Like, authentic unironic vaporwave.
So weird. Sounds like Windwaker pirate music in the background too.
This makes me sad :( Such good times. YTV was amazing
i almost want to cry
true
Same here :(
I remember pretty much all of these commercials. Glad you were able to get the video uploaded.
Thank you, GTronTom. My, god this pure nostalgia.
YTV was my favourite channel as a kid

here comes sailor MOON on her MOON cycle...MOON
Night-Time Suzie Stretch is _terrifying._
This is wonderful, thanks for posting this. I get so sad when i look at these things from when i was a kid and knowing that those amazing days are over.

I cannot believe that was 20 years ago. Goes by so quickly. I am so full of Memberberries. YTV sucks now.
Wow - awesome sampling of great YTV stuff! I wish I'd thought of recording things I watched then.
You made my day! I've been trying to find old 90s YTV content forever!
I miss the 90,s

My childhood is coming back hurray and now i've taken a trip back to 1995 when i was 13, i'm now 29 my how time flys eh!
The 90's ruled
I really love that song in the interlude
Short Circuitz were amazing! Heck, everything from the 90's was amazing! Especially YTV!
I really wish I could go back in time.

Nostalgia
my official child hood is right here
Man I was still loosing my baby teeth, waiting on the tooth fairy. Man crazy to time how long ago this was.
This is from 1996, the year that Sonic 3D Blast was released. The Batman Forever toy commercial also has the year on it. Awesome stuff though!
dude thank you for uploading this
5:00 I swear that’s a hypnotizing brainwashing us 90s kids
WOW. The ReBoot commercial. Thank you.
I really need to go to bed. I gotta work tomorrow and this is not something I should be watching at 2 am.
The ad for "Sonic 3D Blast" pretty clearly situates this as late 1996, and the station ID marks it unmistakably as Christmastime. "yeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaahnnnnn"
My childhood neighbour friend and I would make fun of that ALL the time. I'm so happy I saw that again 21 years later.
Right in the childhood...
I had one of those cat toys in the second commercial! my mom took it away because they got recalled lol
Heather T Was at my mom's place the other day - that cat toy is still in the basement!
Reboot was amazing
omfg good times
short circuits LOL was looking for these forever, didnt know what they were called
I remember I had one of those t.v.s with the guide on them and when you looked past a certain hour on ytv all it would say was Short Circuitz.
i feel really bad for the kids of today...
I'm 17 and I had most of these toys
These were the toys I had to grow up with...what were these toy makers thinking??
I hate you YTV... Why did time separate us? COME BACK!!! I LOVE YOUU!!!
Oh man my feelings are everywhere right now..
True
I remember playing with the Mega Mike!
"I have a friend who sleeps with me in the nighttime
I squeeze her tummy in the dark to make her light shine"
deep
I've been trying to upload that tape for years I just bought a recorder a few days ago. Its awesome.
Best...comment...ever
