    As I listen to this beautiful monk putting his words and gestures together so effortlessly without even trying to convince the audience - he naturally connects and speaks to each individual in that room with sincerity and compassion to the degree that he conveys the message in such simple but deep enough - even for me who's watching at home. I could immerse just by listening to him. I feel empowered, nurtured, and inspired. 💖 Thank you, monk, Gelong. Namaste!🙏

    I just started meditating and it has been a journey. Some days are good and some are not. I’m learning to quiet the mind and go to my breath. I’ve been meditating for a little over a month. My first session I just started crying. I felt such a relief and release of stress. It has been a huge help. I am going through a stressful period right now but meditating has helped so much

    Happiness should be to wake up one day and see no more wars, no starvation, nor torture, poverty, injustice. No more 20,000 kids dying every day because poverty. That should makes us "happy". But we, the ones who are not starving, think more about "individual happiness". We are selfish; not all of us, but many.

    I too have had anxiety and depression most of my life without knowing what it was.I knew I was seeing life and reacting to it differently to most people around me. Thanks to the internet I researched the problem. At almost forty at the time I eventually one day found the answer staring me back from the screen. Not that it changed anything but it was nice to know I was not unique. God has always been important in my life and I talk to Him on a daily basis because as my Creator He alone understands my troubled mind.

      Gelong Thubden is unique. For the last five days I have been meditating near the spot where Buddha's foster mother attained Parinirvana. What better place. Imagine it. All the greats sat around where I sat looking on and helping Prajapati Gautami attaining Parinirvana. The spot is lovely and serene on the banks of the Ganges. Wow. The Buddha watched on, Sariputra and Mogallana watched on, Kassapa, Bhaddaji and the other disciples watched on, Visakha and Amrapali watched on, Theri Uppalavana watched on and helped Prajapati Gautami to have her last bath. The five hundred nuns were sitting around meditating. It took time. I was on that spot imagining that scene through my monkey mind as I tried to meditate. One day I hope to take Gelong Thubden there.

    Thank you so much! My Buddhist reading and meditation allowed me to get out of a deep depression and crippling social anxiety when I was in my twenties two decades ago. Until I started reading about mindfulness and meditation I'd had no idea that it was possible to observe and transform my own reactions and emotions. But recently I'd been feeling stuck, feeling like my meditation and mindfulness were no longer "working." After listening to your talk, I realized that it was because I'd started expecting my meditation to immediately make me feel better when I was in a difficult situation or a depressed mood. It was like I was trying to force myself to feel grateful, happy, and calm immediately when I started meditating. Now I feel "unstuck" because I am simply observing my feelings, sensations, etc.--not expecting anything to change. Now I am experiencing things with so much more awareness. I realize that before I wasn't actually even feeling the water running over my hands or the carpet under my feet. I was only thinking about how much I wanted to be aware of them and appreciate them! It's been incredibly helpful to realize that I was using my meditation practice like a drug to help me get high and that's why I was becoming less and less happy despite having a really good life.

    • @JaySoul711
      @JaySoul711 6 месяцев назад

      I loved how he explained that! “You are meditating like a drug addict. Trying to get high by meditating.”

    a true teacher never speaks about himself but make everything sound easy.. The purpose pf teaching is maling it easier to those who need help and guidance... The monks need to rethink "teaching" when all the teacher does is "boast"....
