The french fanbase call Zelda dungeons "temples" a lot and I cringe everytime kupo
Shadow Temple in Ocarina of Time is still my favorite. I was scared of it as a kid and bottom of the well but it taught me to overcome my fears. I seen so many theories on it and it intrigued me still to this day. The music and gloomy temple will always hold a special place in my heart
My favorite dungeon from OoT is Bottom of the Well. I remember feeling truly lost in there and it makes you fight for your life, just one big navigation test and very open too. The impact of that aesthetic is somewhat lost the second time around (Shadow Temple).
Still love the Shadow Temple of course, but Bottom of the Well is just perfect in every way for my tastes.

I liked the Shadow Temple from Ocarina of Time and the Snowpeak Mansion from Twilight Princess.
The Shadow temple gave me the most grief when I first played it xD
I found it more difficult than the Water Temple back when I was 15.
I replayed the game since and neither is all that bad actually if you simply use the map to go to the rooms you haven't been to yet xD
As an avid TP fan I have to say snowpeak is probably my least favorite in the game.
Arbiters grounds is still my fave of any Zelda game
Not gonna lie, I didn't even realise Snowpeak Mansion was a dungeon until I got to the final boss the first time I played TP. I thought I was just helping Yeto and Yeta so I could to get to the dungeon
@@foggyaf5531 what’s funny is I’m the opposite. Hate arbiter’s grounds (the constant slowdowns/stops in a dungeon filled with nothing but quicksand you do NOT want to be moving slowly in), but snowpeak’s infinitely replenishing healing item takes any stress related to the dungeon out of the situation. Plus I can’t help but adore Yeto and Yeta - at least while the latter isn’t being busy going crazy while being possessed by a twilight mirror.
I really liked Snowpeak too.
Love the Ancient Cistern. A perfect dungeon from start to finish; including and especially the boss fight.
The dungeons with it's undead creatures as well...
The sinister ominous underground part of it tho had me a little scared
I loved using the boss's giant swords against him, hacking away!
Stallord from Twilight Princess my favorite boss fight ever. But I also love Koloktos from Skyward Sword.
When I first faced Koloktos, I didn't realize using its swords was actually required. I just went and grabbed one to do damage.
Hey man, it happens to the best of us. I fought Tentalus only using a bow to damage its weak spot. The game got stuck as you are supposed to deal the final blow with your sword.
The Ancient Cistern from Skyward Sword is my Favorite.😃

i hope so as well but i kinda doubt it. I think they might choose to go with the "if it aint broke dont fix it" mindset. Yeah it has problems but its still the most popular and loved zelda game so they might not want to mess it up.

@@kayden2119 hmm... spending more time on dungeons would then subtract from the overworld content? Hopefully reusing the overworld mitigates this. But I'm also worried about if exploring the same Hyrule will reduce that open world magic. I think that's another big reason why I am personally really banking on stellar dungeons this time
@@verysleepywolf they know what they are doing. Rarely has there ever been a bad mainline zelda game. Even the worst ones are still above average games.
One of the reasons i love Zelda so much, it's because of the dungeons and the unique puzzles. I can't wait to play SS again and play the tradicional dungeons i miss so much.
play the whole game on 3 hearts. It turns into Darksouls ^^
That game gives you way too much health imo. I end up just damage boosting through all the hazards way too easily.

I honestly think the Spirit Temple is the best, cause of how there’s a half for Young Link and one for Adult Link, and I love the Requiem of Spirit warp theme. Also the Twinrova fight is pretty fun.
For me, the Water Temple is the most creative and cruel Temple in OOT, i love it
To me personally forest is the best but there is not a single one that i hate. They are all fun and i enjoy replaying that game. Oot is the best zelda game in my opinion

Seasons/Ages was such an underrated duo of Zelda games.
Going through them now. Ages has been really tough for me....so much lateral/juxtaposed thinking required. It's too much sometimes. I might just be a dummy. I feel Link's Awakening is structured in a way that makes for a more pleasant experience. Better pacing than either of the Oracle games. Plot is more impactful and motivating as well. Just my opinion.

nah Stone Tower is a master piece, it's my favorite temple of all time I think. Tho Great Bay is awesome too.
Lanayru was fun but comawn, Ancient Cistern, it was great.
ye Forest temple was definitely memorable... but I liked the whole time switching with the Spirit Temple quite a bit. Would be fun if you could have seen the Forest Temple 7 years in the past xD
Face Shrine has my favorite dungeon music
In A Link Between Worlds I found the Ice Palace better than Thieves Hideout.
I loved the desert palace. The music in link between worlds for that place was so good
@@spiderdude2099 Not mentioned, Dark Palace and Swamp Palace, now that you bring up the music. While we're on music, should I just bring up Lorule Castle??? Arguably, best music and most challenging/visually impressive dungeon in the game. Ice Palace actually comes in second for that game IMO. But all of these dungeon beats Thieves Hideout.
Blind's Hideout from "A Link to the Past," (Thieves Hideout's counterpart btw) was better than Thieves Hideout.
All of the dungeons in A Link Between Worlds were bangers.
Big agree! The ice dungeon has to be my favorite in ALBW. Its structure is very impressive. Top notch dungeon design.
This is a well done video but Snowpeak Ruins was the best dungeon in Twilight Princess

Skyward Sword's dungeons are one of the bests!
I've always had a love/hate relationship with this game. I can't stand how overboard they went with the motion controls (I feel like the Wii version of Twilight Princess handled this better for the most part).
But the dungeons? You are correct. They are beyond amazing. And the Lanayru region is arguably the best designed overworld in any Zelda game.

I hate the silent realm in the game. But Skyward Sword had such amazing dungeons. That I can agree on.

completely disagree on ocarina of time, its for sure spirit temple, best final boss in the game, combines both young link and adult link sides of the temple, some of the best music in the game as well

I always see ancient cistern as the best dungeon in skyward. Lanayru mining facility is criminally underrated and is the best one imo

I would’ve had Eagle’s Tower for Link’s Awakening. That concept was very very creative and challenging. I had the most fun on that dungeon.
Spirit Temple would’ve been my choice for Ocarina of Time because of the music, atmosphere, enemies, and having to visit the area as a child and adult.
Everything else I either agree with or don’t really have an opinion on. I just hope the next Zelda game brings back traditional dungeons.

Unicorns cave, and explorers crypt are my favs from seasons but amcient ruins and sword and shield maze are almost just as good. The last 4 dungeons in seasons are s teir
@prologue yeah, I didn't really care for the Great Bay Temple. Kinda confusing, and I had to restart it due to the timer running out!
I agree on Majora's Mask. Goron mask kicks ass and the boss is satisfying to kill. Stone Temple is "interesting" but is as annoying as OoT Water Temple. Having to go back outside, create new statues and shoot the switch SUCKED
The first 4 might as well have just been titled "listing the last dungeon in each game"
spirit temple over forest temple any day. i just love the atmosphere there. of course, i loved every dungeon in that game (yes, even that one), so the forest temple's 2nd place is still very good
The Ancient Cistern is the most vibrant temple in the Legend of Zelda Series😁. In my opinion 😏
I think that's a bit unfair with SS being the most vibrant graphic package of all Zeldas.
BotW and WW barely compete but I don't think either of them have a more Vibrant temple either lol
Saw that the ancient cistern dungeon is the thumbnail and instantly clicked because thats one of my favorites, can’t wait to replay it on switch in a few days!
Idk the sky temple in twilight princess was my favorite, getting the dual clawshot was handy and the music was great, to to mention getting to fight a whole dragon.
I agree with most all of these, but Spirit Temple gets the nod for me from OoT: the music, atmosphere, boss battle are all stellar. Plus, it’s the only dungeon that takes full advantage of the time mechanic.

I did like the Beasts of BoTW (At least the concept of a "living dungeon/temple, but I think they were too small and would preferred bosses to be Lionel level at least and more creative with designs) XD I loved Hyrule Castle, I think generally speaking BotW was the change the franchise needed to thrive in new console generations. I love the older games but I also loved the new mechanics.

For Twilight Princess still my favorite temple is Goron Mines, I like the simple theme and the fact the temple literally is mostly outside in a volcano and Fyrus the final boss, I think he looks bad-ass and scary though I can’t remember the last time I got hit by him
yes!! and i love how well the gorons locked fyrus away. they split the key into 3 shards that are hidden with the elders, and the boss room is sealed with a horde of monsters in front of it. and after that, you get to walk down the giant hallway with pillars, open the door, to find fyrus, slumbering with his arms and legs chained into the middle of the room. that, in my opinion, is one of the best dungeons and stories ever!!!

I think Eagles Tower edges out Turtle Rock imo, the manipulation of different levels of the towers to reach a new area was always really cool, and the boss fight was fun. The actual "Turtle Rock " fight was really cool, but it overshadowed the lack luster dungeon boss.

While I agree the Fire Temple from Spirit Tracks was good, The Tower of Spirits was Amazing. Seriously, there are so many reasons why it's not only the best Master Dungeon between the 2, but also one of the best dungeons in the franchise.

The Forest Temple in OOT is one technecally the first Temple of the game, and one of the first dungeons.
Temple of droplets isn’t either and I wholeheartedly agreed with that one. So fun.

Arbiters Ground is in my opinion the best in the entire series. Not only is the art style and setting so well done but the tone as well. The feeling of existential dread and darkness that comes with just entering it. And the soundtrack just adds to it. The final boss too, despite being really easy, is AWESOME
IMO Stone Tower Temple is the best Zelda dungeon of all time, it’s like everything Link has learned over Ocarina of time and Majoras mask has all lead up to this dungeon for the ultimate challenge with killer music
Hyrule Castle and the Snow Peak Mansion are two good honorable mentions both found in Twilight Princess.
Snowpeak was my favorite!
Shadow and Spirit Temple - Ocarina of Time. First one was really creepy and full of hidden stuff. Love the boat ride in the middle and invisible ground. While spirit temple had incredible music and I loved the combination with young/old link and the boss fight was superb. Full of good puzzles.

Fun fact in ocarina of time the fire temple could be the first temple you beat as an adult, since you dont need the bow to completa it, I think the only think you need the bow for is to get the map, but you can get it either way with a really easy short cut
The giant blue bot coming down from the ceiling at 2:13 was the stuff of nightmares for me as a kid. I got so spooked every time I saw it. My dad got to the great temple first so If he thought he was in the room where this happened, he would let me know so I could leave the room cause I was that afraid of this thing.
The Ancient Cistern Boss Fight is so cool
The forest temple is DEFINITELY not the best temple from OoT! As difficult as it was, and as easy as it is to miss crucial keys, the water temple stands high and above the others.
It's not even difficult. The hate it gets is from one or two easy to miss keys, most notoriously the one under the central tower. If you don't know there's a room there (hint: look at the map subscreen), you could be running in circles (or perhaps more accurately, cycling through water levels). Combined with the need to pause and unpause anytime you want Link to sink or float, not to mention the probable age at which most of these people had the experience that shaped their view of it, and the whole thing kind of speaks for itself.
Out of all the adult Link dungeons, the water temple is by far the worst. The structure is confusing, orientation is difficult, pausing and unpausing for the iron boots is annoying as hell and the boss is a disappointment.
@@Ribsi I feel like it would have been a lot better if you just got the Longshot early like in Master Quest, and then Morpha was the mini-boss and Dark Link the boss.
The spirit temple is my person favorite. I loved the idea of going to the temple as adult and kid link in order to complete it.
@@Ribsi Well at this point Ocarina of Time 3D is the definitive version and it fixes most of the issues with the water temple from the original game
The Wind Waker - The Wind Temple ( Where you fight Molduga )
You mean Molgera. Though I do think that the Wind Temple is overall better than the Earth Temple.
One of these days I ought to go back, finish Spirit Tracks, and pick up all the rest of the Zelda games that came after it (I started playing Skyward Sword once upon a time, but never continued after beating the first dungeon). I just kinda fell out of love with The Legend of Zelda somewhere along the line...
I'm finishing it again at 100% and dude I never get tired of doing it, I love spirit tracks so much it is a beautiful zelda game :)

My favorite in Ocarina of time was the Shadow Temple, but mentions to the Spirit Temple and the water temple.
I need to partially take back my previous statement. Compartmentalizing BOTW's Hyrule Castle to a mere dungeon is one of the greatest disservices in modern history. It's literally 1/5th of the game. The entire game map changes when you enter it.

My only comments are:
Ocarina of Time - Forest Temple is a good choice, I think the Shadow and Spirit Temples were contenders
Majora's Mask: 100% yes, Stone Tower
Twilight Princess: I actually hated Arbiter Grounds, I think Yeti Manor is the best in the game. Temple of Time is a contender too
Wind Waker: Earth Temple is a good choice, Tower of Gods would have been my pick
Oracle of Ages: So glad you chose Mermaid's Cave, that was the dungeon I remembered the most!
quick note on Breath of the Wild, I really liked the Divine Beasts. I think Vah Medoh was exceptionally well done
Some of the pronunciations were rough, but Stallord took the cake. Stall-ord? It's Stal-lord! Like Stalfos, which she got MOSTLY correct earlier (plural of Stalfos is Stalfos, not Stalfoses).

ppl be forgettin the sandship and the awesome miniboss. You are fighting a robot pirate on the bow of the ship, for the bow and a kracken attacks for the bossfight. and you get the clawshots shortly before.
But at the end of breath of the Wild that's not a fucking Temple that's the castle

How fitting that both oracle games have dungeon 6 as mojo's best; I would personally consider dungeon 8 myself, especially for ages. Progression through the ancient tomb requires the use of your sword, bombs, cane of Somaria, switch hook, seed shooter, and even the aforementioned mermaid suit and roc's feather (as well as its signature item the power glove, itself an upgrade to the power bracelet found much earlier in dungeon 1, spirit's grave; how poetic that the dungeon entrance at sea of no return is actually the past version of yoll graveyard where spirit's grave entrance is) plus access to sea of no return is logically locked by access to crescent island past as well as the tokay eyeball, obtained from the pirates at sea of storms for the Zora scale (a concept that would be revisited in skyward sword for sky keep, that game's final level). There are four slates scattered throughout the ancient tomb that once found are placed around the central lock, opening the path to Ramrock, provided you have the actual boss key as well. And that boss has four phases which require sword, bombs, seed shooter, and power glove respectively.
I loved Vah Rudania in BoTW, It was the coolest looking of the divine beasts to me, and the music and ambiance was by far the best in it. Too bad the divine beasts were so lacking in terms of their puzzles and the bosses, they had a lot of potential.
Oh, and I think the spirit temple is the best in OoT. Loved that temple. Also, shoutout to the first temple in Majora's Mask and that super weird boss and the sounds it made, really set the tone for the rest of the game.
The Dungeons in Skyward Sword were absolute fire, I can’t pick a favourite, I can think of like 5 that were absolutely amazing. Actually maybe the Sand Ship one because the lead up to it was great too.
I can understand practically all of these pics, there are so many great choices. For LTTP I think I'd pick Palace of Darkness or Thieves' Hideout. For LBW I'd personally go with Ice Ruins, that ranks among the best in 2D Zelda for me. I actually agree with all of your picks for 3D Zelda. OOT is very challenging because it has, imo, the best overall quality of dungeons. Skyward Sword's selection is also fantastic, but Ancient Cistern edges out the Sandship for me with Koloktos and its Underworld.
It’s hard to pick between thieves hideout and temple of darkness in ALBW. I love the puzzles in thieves hideout and the thief girl mechanic. The boss is also epic and very creative. But the temple of darkness is amazing even before you enter the dungeon with the way you have to sneak past the guards to even get to the dungeon. And it has some of the best bomb puzzles in any Zelda game.

I was just thinking that the Forest Temple from Ocarina was one of my favorite in the entire series, something so satisftying about hunting the poes through the paintings. Though the Spirit Temple from Ocarina is also REALLY good.
Spirit Temple is my all time favorite.
You play as both young and adult link.
You get to use all your items in the puzzles.
And you fight the most awesome boss in the entire serie imo.

Shadow Temple for me in Ocarina of Time. Made me fall in love with the paranormal and scary/horror vibe the temple gave. For a temple like that to be in a kids game back in the day was everything I could’ve wished for.
Forest Temple in OoT was always low on my ranking lol. Probably because as a kid i somehow always got lost and frustrated, something that, oddly enough, didnt happen to me in the water temple.

@@joshuaweston4489 Yeah, that is correct. I love the desert areas in Legend of Zelda, and even the Gerudo race. Unfortunately Link's Awakening and Wind Waker don't have desert dungeons, with Wind Waker having no desert at all. Majora's Mask doesn't have a desert but Stone Tower Temple gives a feel of it, in a way.

Call it blasphemy, but I think the Ancient Cistern dungeon in Skyward Sword is overrated. It has one of the best designs in the entire series, but the gameplay isn't all that special. Then the Lanayru mining facilities or Sandship are much more fun to explore with their time crystals.
I love Ancient Cistern, but it is a very tough call between it and Sandship. The Mines are also fantastic. The desert and time crystals stuff was pretty much some of the best offerings from Skyward Sword. The whole game is amazing though and highly underrated.

Just going through the sand sea is amazing. Beautiful.
It has some of the best theming for any Zelda dungeon in the series. And the puzzle with the spider thread and the lever to move the giant statue is really amazing (unfortunately the puzzle gets spoiled by a stone tablet that gives you the solution but hopefully that stone tablet is gone in the HD version). But for me it’s a toss up between ancient cistern and sandship. But I also think sky keep is underrated
I have always said that sandship is my favorite. It brings out the fun of childhood when exploring around A FREAKING PIRATE SHIP. I lived the memories of shooting all the enemies off the top of the sails with the newly acquired bow and arrow, and also saving the robots felt so heroic. It is my second favorite temple in the franchise right behind arbiters grounds

I JUST beat arbiters grounds today. Oh my God it took 5 hours. I really didn't want to die. It was alot easier when I looked up walkthroughs though. THE FRIGGIN QUICKSAND.
Breath of the wild really doesn't have dungeons. I don't think the divine beasts Even really count. Probably the only big blemish in the game for me
I hate Botw for not having Dungeons
I think that it offered a new spin on dungeons that made it an interesting and fresh experience.

@@MindeFlex I think when they decided to go the open world approach they should have looked at bethesda or rockstar games open worlds and tried to add in more elements and improve on them. Botw while beautiful and great for exploration and discovery, it still lacks so much that hopefully will be added into the sequel
Agree with most of the list..so glad the Forest Temple from ocarina of time made the list. Agree also with earth Temple in the Wind Waker but would swap Arbiters grounds with Hyrule Castle for twilight princess and Lorule Castle would get my bot for a Link between worlds.
Some odd choices here.
With Ages The Mermaid's Cave will forever be tainted to me because of what you have to do to get they Mermaid Keys... Goron Dancing. The worst minigame in any Zelda.
Also I've always gone with Stalfoes as the plural of Stalfos. Stalfoses just sounds off.
I knew I wasn't crazy. I've never heard Stalfos said that way by anyone.
Ive played Ocarina of Time, Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword and yeah I gotta say the common thread is that the 4th dungeon is extremely for all 3.

The best dungeon in Link’s Awakening is the Face Shrine. It’s just after the turning point in the story, it has a banger theme and an eerie, yet ornate atmosphere that perfectly compliments being an ancient temple.
I think the proper term is Dungeon, but you do mispronounce anime names

'Dungeon' carries a lot of DnD and MMO baggage. So "Temple" is a pretty precise word I think.
You can say Dungeon of course but then you're sharing a less precise word.

Arbiter's grounds is probably my least favorite temple from Twilight Princess. The final boss is fun but that's all. I think I probably prefer the Snow Temple. I forget what it's called but the mansion just had a really cool design and aside from the final boss fight being pretty weak and the ball and chain being kind of useless I think it's a better temple.
Snowpeak ruins was def a winner! I agree that while Arbiter’s grounds wasn’t a fave, I still appreciate how eerie and dark it felt!
Yeah it just kinda felt like an arbitrary sand temple, similar to spirit temple in oot and stone tower in MM
I think if the tower of the gods for wind waker counts as a temple, it is my favorite. Maybe it is because you finally get the bow.
I hope BOTW Hyrule Castle is used as the template for the dungeons in BOTW2.
The DS games are so underrated, they can't compete with console games, but for a hand-held console, it was a blast to see the creativity and love put into them.

Skyward Sword hype. Skykeep was very clever although i gotta say sandship was pretty much my fav. Lanayru Mining Facility music was awesome

I never once played Four Swords Adventures nor was I into the portable console games except for Link's Awakening DX. And I gotta say, Turtle Rock is nothing but a series of mini bosses crammed into one space. Anglers Cavern was my favorite.
Spirit Temple and Forest Temple are easily the best in ocarina of time. But I prefer Forest.
