- Maybe... Star Wars the Empire Strikes Back could be the best film in the franchise but I think we need to accept there will never be an agreed upon favorite anything. This video is all about being able to admit when you are wrong and protecting your own ego; I had to protect my ego against other star wars fans for a long time because it can be hard to accept someone is a fan of the same thing as you when you are diametrically opposed on what makes it good and so I am committed to putting to record what exactly I like about star wars without making it seem like it is the only thing that makes star wars worth watching and becoming a fan of because there are a million things to be a fan of in star wars from the characters to the sword choreography, from the force to the technology, anybody can like anything and Star Wars has everything.

Not much of a hot take
I'm trying to establish my super normal takes so that when I get to my prequels takes hopefully it will work like Kevlar against clone wars fans
I am one of the few who believes the original is the best. I remember when ESB came out, many were saying it may be better than the original. I'll give ESB credit where it's due, it was a better overall story (not because it was darker, that doesn't automatically make it better as many seem to opine) and yes, there were better sets. That said, I feel ESB suffered from the lack of veteran actors like Alec Guiness & Peter Cushing, I just felt the acting/dialogue in ESB was inferior and thus carried less gravitas with it (the novelty of Yoda not withstanding). The original was so much more engaging to me, I mean, I still maintain that the Death Star battle is one of the greatest pieces of cinema, ever.

I have to at least finish out this trilogy and figure out how Return of the Jedi is actually the Army of Darkness of the saga

Yep. Without a doubt.
It's impossible for me to rate the original trilogy. Star Wars is the foundation and has so many innovations. The other films stand on its shoulders. Empire has better acting, directing , effects and storytelling. Jedi suffers from the same flaws as the prequels but had the most spectacle, the best effects and is so much damn fun. I can never decide which one I love more.
I agree they are all so important to how we got here in film and even the prequels are important for things like digital editing and adobe software and I just feel like I can infinitely talk and connect other movies back to the original trilogy and its influence

WOAAAHHH! that's awesome, in my research for this series I've really fallen in love with the old 80's and 70's marketing of Star Wars
@@Fizz.mp4 in some ways Australian movie marketing was by word of mouth well.. til Flash Gordon ,,we had radio reviews after 1983 .. because of political views ,, we did university level research of why Disney took over aust media ,, an example of this is american ABC , CBS ,NBC ads same , they edited & just added australian news hosts ,,& we had 3 BBC .. british only stations ,,. disney controlled content from 1966 ,.. oh ,, we are finally getting australian disney park, 6 year built til openng 2032 ,,, work starts 2026 after political bribes from 20 years ago.. they human trafficked workers & cocain ,, its why we have no theme park,, even though ,, disney consoltaints planners & engineers all planned our curent 20 tourist parks .. rollercoasters were second hand til last year , disney sold 7 unused rollercoasters to aust ,, mostly cos workers stopped blowing our CEO ,, & court cases now .. plus american anti~ workplace blowjobs as pay laws are here finally .. attractions are now digital tv on a hydrolic sound stage ,, super mario lands ,.. 7 hogwarts areas now ,.. but always starwars fans here 70% population,, Dreamworks is part of our 70 year old Seaworld attraction..

i've never met anyone who doesn't think empire is the best star wars film... i'd put rogue one second and 'new hope' third.... the rest are more than a tad 'meh'
so many kids growing up loved Revenge of the Sith and told me Empire was the boring one but now I make a video talking about how I love Empire and now everybody tells me its obviously the best one

Saw the title and felt you needed to know that ESB is not only the best SW movie, it is the best movie ever made, it’s the pinnacle of human moviemaking achievement. The sheer level of how far ahead of everything else is not even funny.

im not worried about being polite. I thought you were making a fun comment about how most people agree the empire strikes back is the best and I was joking that I titled i it as a question to be polite to people who disagree with us because basically the point of the video is to say that everyone enjoys different things and they get really mad when you tell them their favorite thing isn't the best thing in the universe by holy inherent right and lash out at people who disagree and I want to thank you for using your comment and reply to perfectly replicate that

TESB is the best!
No- episodes 4-6 are equal- it's this modern generation who favors episode 5 because they just like the character development, the love story and the plot twist at the end and they're not interested in the overarching plot of the battle of the rebellion against the empire or the special effects and they hate the ewoks.
Personally I think ROTJ is a far inferior film. Dialogue, characters, direction all seem a bit lazier. The humour started be a bit sillier like we got in the prequels.
you are right I am not interested in the overarching plot of the battles because to me it is just generic fantasy scifi battle. I come for the characters and the plot of the individual films because that to me is what lifted Star Wars above the generic everything else; I feel like if you strip away what the modern generation favors you would just be left with flash gordon, Emperor and space empire versus blonde hero and rebellion forces
@@Fizz.mp4 Respectfully, we differ in our conclusions- I followed star wars since 1977 and all I was looking for is the war aspect- nowadays folks like when the bad guys win- I wanted vader and palpatine defeated (incidentally, I knew palpatine's identity since the first novel was released circa 1976).
The modern generation inexplicably has little appreciation for the OT actually. George was right about obsessing over cgi because it’s episode 3 they all think is the best movie. That’s better than nothing but clearly the modern generation place too high a value on cgi in moviemaking.
4-6 are not equal. ESB is far superior to both ANH and ROTJ. And it isn't even close.
