Loved the way the situation was handled. Everybody stayed alert and calm; and did nothing to spook or anger the elephant. Well done. The elephant stopping when the kids got up and moved out; as if it was saying "Hey, I just came for a cup of coffee & I meant no harm"..
It really is wondrous to see: Elephants know full well that humans are capable of great harm, but - as we've seen with cetaceans - they seem to be good "vibe readers" and generally peaceable creatures. Just love these Ellie videos so much. 🐘🌱💜🙋🌍
They shouldn't be there camping in the Elephant's territory these animals are constantly harassed by human behaviour, humans will be the end of animals
This happened on an official campsite in the Moremi National Park (Khwai North Gate Campsite) which has to be booked in advance. The number of people and sites are limited. One cannot enter the park and the campsite without permit, which has to be bought. The fees payed by the visitors help to protect the park and the animals. When we were there we were the only ones at the campsite.

Lucky kids. Parents are calm and curious setting the tone perfectly.
0:40 the elephant literally backs off sensing the presence of children. Amazing Gentle giants! ✨

Yes, there are no fences. You have to watch out, especially at night - you cannot leave the tent when it's dark.
