People will believe whatever they want to and we shouldn't have to explain ourselves to them they will either believe it or not. Our professor had invited us to her house for an emergency last minute habitat for humanity meeting and I remember seeing her daughters room was empty and she was telling us how much she cried when she had to empty the room she almost couldn't do it.

I am sorry to hear about your professor, she is probably a kind and generous soul (e.g. working with HFH). I have an idea that, in my opinion, explains why some people hold onto this "hoax" explanation or "conspiracy theory". For some, the thought that such an atrocity can actually happen, that humans are capable of such horrible behavior, well, its just too much for them to bear. So they invent an alternate explanation that involves no killing. Of course, their alternate explanation requires belief in massive amounts of lying and collusion, but these human sins are easier to accept than mass murder. So in the end, it is an elaborate self-defense mechanism in order to feel better about the human condition. Also, in cases where gun violence is involved, it seems that some of the conspiracy theorists are paranoid about their gun ownership rights. So paranoid in fact, that they believe there is a conspiracy to invent such tragedies in order to provide fodder for gun control advocates. I was on the school bus home when a friend asked me if I had heard what happened on that day. It changed my life really. I'm also from Connecticut and when someone says to you "Looks like they're all dead" you don't forget. I suppose they're in a better place...
This is my first time seeing this and I've got to say that as we are all preparing for the holidays, there are 26 families that will probably never be the same after that fateful day. My boys are older, but I think that I will hug them just that much tighter today.
I remember when this happened I was at work in Georgia and I saw the news come on in my residents room and all I could do is just stand there in shock began to cry and think to myself who would want to kill innocent children . He and his wife had come to Newtown for the anniversary of the Sandy Hook tragedy. I said it was a tough time for us; he said his granddaughter was one of the children. The thumbs down vs thumbs up concept is almost entirely American. It is not universal in Europe and nearly non existent outside the Western world. And here we are 1 week after another elementary school shooting…. And almost 10 years later for these little ones. Nothings changed…
cry every time I hear about those kids they weren't my children but my heart broke as if they were my own. I know we've had many tragic events in this world but out of all of the events I've been around for this one really hit me the hardest.
I was on the school bus home when a friend asked me if I had heard what happened on that day. It changed my life really. I'm also from Connecticut and when someone says to you "Looks like they're all dead" you don't forget. I suppose they're in a better place...

This is my first time seeing this and I've got to say that as we are all preparing for the holidays, there are 26 families that will probably never be the same after that fateful day. My boys are older, but I think that I will hug them just that much tighter today.
I remember when this happened I was at work in Georgia and I saw the news come on in my residents room and all I could do is just stand there in shock began to cry and think to myself who would want to kill innocent children . My heart broke for the parents. As soon I got home that night I hugged my nieces and nephews.
These kids would be grown today and graduating. This is heartbreaking.
A prayer to all the families affected by this.

How people who say this is fake is beyond me.... My friend lost her cousin in that tragic event, please go tell her that it was fake... as well as all those families...

They all should be in the 11th grade now. We have not made our country worthy in their memory. I have been teaching elementary school since 1997. It is truly heartbreaking.
I stopped to fill up my tires the other day and an older gentleman came up and I admired his car. He said he was traveling and his low air pressure light had come on. He and his wife had come to Newtown for the anniversary of the Sandy Hook tragedy. I said it was a tough time for us; he said his granddaughter was one of the children. I embraced him and said we are with you. He said, we are with you. #WeAreNewtown #AllOfUs

I remember when Newtown happened. I live in CT and my school went into lockdown after this happened, not knowing what was going to happen. It was a sad day for everyone.

This is the first time I viewed this video. Oh how I cried and felt the indignation of the act but cannot imagine the pain of their parents and loved ones. Every time a shooting occurs we all pray that this will never happen again...... Yet, it continues. The grief of parents and as a nation this must be stopped.

Today marks 7 years since 26 innocent lives were lost. Mothers, sisters, daughters, and brothers. Babies were taken away from their families senselessly and brutally. My sincerest condolences go out to all who knew and loved each and every victim of this tragedy. May God Bless them and be with them always 🙏🏾

The thumbs down vs thumbs up concept is almost entirely American. It is not universal in Europe and nearly non existent outside the Western world. RUclips is accessible in most of the world so many people from other countries will simply not understand what it means. Also, even some Americans are fuzzy on the concept of rating videos. They may be giving thumbs down to the fact that 20 children were murdered and not realize that it is the video they are rating.
