      And this is what I appreciate about Remnant 2 : play the way you like. There are no bad ways to build. Only your way. And while my super armoured and fast litteral tank build works well... I just love my "Little Mac spent time with Goku in the Time Chamber training". All of them might not work spectacularly on the hardest difficulty, but they can still be a lot of fun. It's part of what makes build crafting in Remnant 2 so great.

Genuinely how does anyone find this out at all. Like, who the hell was the poor bloke who couldn't get past the arrow trap for five straight minutes and ended up getting sucked down below.
    Genuinely crazy.

      More likely someone who notices that you sink, and tries to see if there's something below. It's a fairly common mechanic in platformers that have sinking sand.

    • @SethAbercromby
      @SethAbercromby 2 месяца назад +62

      The game has a few breadcrumbs, but ou need to really think in a roundabout way to figure it out. The first sort of hint is that that one particular arrow trap is broken and cannot fire, creating a safe pocket in that room, and if you look in that corner there is a softly glowing ring around those piles of sand if you get close enough to them. If you just stand in there and wonder if there is anything that's supposed to happen there, you might even notice your character is very very slowly sinking into the sand.
      It takes a pretty wide leapin logic of 'let's just sit here for a few minutes and see what happens', but it at least makes a lot more sense than the pipe drain room that takes a literal hour to fill up soyou can get one of the most fun secondaries in the entire game.

    So the journal of that soldier basically goes as follows; He joined the army sometime after WWII (presumably shortly after the Root started coming to Earth, canonically in the 1960's), mostly because of his father, a strict military man. He was excited to be chosen for a "special mission", finally earned the coveted "I'm proud of you son" from pops, and had a girlfriend Dawn whom he adored and was going to ask to marry him. The "special mission" turned out to be deployment to Yaesha. Something about the crystal/worldstone in that early time was flawed and didn't allow them to return to Earth, but also granted them pseudo-immortality. They could still be killed, but they'd only age when that happened and the crystal resurrected them.
    Ford (a fairly important part of Remnant 1) their commander went missing almost immediately, and then the rest of his unit died off one by one by just growing too old from repeatedly being killed and revived. Jack was the last one. He wrote, as per the game, 17 entries that were more or less letters to Dawn. At some point he started to realize how much time had passed, and he figured she had moved on but wished her happiness. The last of his squad, Dash, died a couple weeks prior to the players finding him in the DLC. His last letter, number 17, is both excited at the prospect of someone having shown up and finally being able to go home, but also sad because he knows Dawn is absolutely already dead just due to the sheer amount of time that has gone by since it all began.
    For context, the Root invaded in (I think) like 1968. I'd imagine the military expedition took place very shortly after that, while Remnant 2 is set sometime in the 2080's. Our boy Jack, chronologically, would be easily upwards of 120 years old. Still, for that 100+ years trapped on some alien hellhole, watching his brothers in arms fight and suffer and die one by one, his love for Dawn and absolute drive to get back to her again somehow kept him mostly sane and functional....All in all, those 17 journal pages are sad as fuck, and it's Souls-level bullshit that they just fucking 86 him off-screen after giving him that hope of finally being able to go back home after all that time....

      @Astraeus.. 2 месяца назад +3

      @NetherStray 2 месяца назад +1

      Honestly lovable jank, I've gotta say. I very rarely ever get mad at this game. It's a great time in co-op and whenever stuff breaks it's basically just funny. Usually it's just graphical stuff anyway, like whoops, the game forgot to put someone's head back on after they swapped helmets. Or breaking a pot and the shards just go careening across the floor.

    • @JinFreeks
      @JinFreeks 2 месяца назад +5

      The one thing I hope Gunfire can develop more in their next games is enemy variety. Most shards have like 6-8 main enemies types and 4 sub-bosses/elites.
      Like, the whole of Yaeshas main map has the rolly-polly guys and the 6 legged snakes as the only common enemies. And these maps you will always see.
      I love both Remnant 1 and 2 a lot. Gotten literally every single piece of equipment you can get. Including all the challenge gear, and the obtuse "you can literally only find this with guides because it's intentionally hidden to be data mined" stuff. But more enemy variety would help it a lot I feel.

      The bosses that really stand out in this game do so because of the actual game mechanics they utilize, and it does create some really cool moments when you encounter them. Unfortunately I find the designs for a lot of them to be somewhat lacking, to the point where I don’t remember anything about most of them, and can probably only recall the actual names of maybe 2-3. That’s not to say that these bosses are bad, they are just forgettable. Compare this to any Fromsoft game, where I can recall many of the bosses even years later after doing only a single play through. Maybe it has something to do with the random modifiers applied to the bosses in Remnant, but I hope this is something that the devs can improve on in their future games, while still retaining creative and fun mechanics.

    • @JinFreeks

      @@chaoswraith Sadly, I find it has the usual problem of most puzzle bosses. Doing the puzzle is fun - the first time around. It still is a bit of a check the second time around, but when you fight it every, single, cycle ... it just gets oh so boring oh so fast. It is static. Like, fully. Sadly. I know it would be asking way to much for the scope of the team and studio, but having the arena and placement of the cubes in it having some controlled randomization would have made it so much better. Imo.

  • @GameDevYal

    The lengths you need to go through to find some of the new build choices are pretty bonkers, I'm glad the first and third DLCs just put the new class engrams in regular hidden rooms that you can reasonably stumble over. One thing I never would've figured out without a guide is that the metal things you can kick to trigger a car alarm on can be properly activated if you do the Dark Conduit dungeon, the game does not convey interacting with the thing at the end of the dungeon does something. (And then to get the Cool Thing at the end you need to find and activate all of the doohickeys which takes forever. It's one of the space guns, too.)

  • @NN-lf2rs
    @NN-lf2rs 2 месяца назад +1

    Fun fact about the WAKE UP guy:
    Each randomly generated event in a dungeon usually only has 1 solution but for this one there are is more than 1. The goal is to basically avoid him when opening the doors throughout the manor to pick up the quest item. If you were to pick his door at anytime, you would have to reset the progress you made. I think it’s funny because ever since my friends and I discovered him, the only memorable thing we have cherished throughout all our runs was “WAKE UP”.
    Edit: You can also get different solutions or endings for boss fights. The One true king for example if you were to kill him while he had his hammer, you would have gotten the “Monarch” gun instead of the staff. Another solution is basically betraying him and talking to the goddess Nimue to claim a different reward for them and so forth. This game is by far my top 3 in all time games just because of how much time they put into details. Simply talking to someone before or after an encounter can easily change the ending or item one receives when completing the objective. It is truly a phenomenal game and I’m thankful you finally got to their DLC after a year 🫡.

    Would love to see more videos of you guys going through the game.
    There's so much to discover still.
    Almost every final boss of a zone has an alternative way to kill them for a different reward.
    Each world has a few different possible stories that can spawn.
    So it's worth doing multiple campaigns or rolling adventure mode until you find something new.
    Or redoing stories you've already done but differently for the alternative rewards
