    Here in 2023. I just had this problem last night after using pressure washer for a few hours. I could not get the hose off & even tried pliers on the couplers which damaged the rubber on them. If this is such a problem because of different metals, why are companies making them this way? I will try this trick & hopefully it might come off. The other trick was that I had to relieve the pressure out of the hose first & that worked, but it seemed to have worked just once.
    Update: I was finally able to unscrew it off by just working at the rubber coupler with pliers, although now the rubber is chewed up a bit. I applied the oil/grease afterwards, as in the video & that is going to help a lot in the future to keep it from seizing again.

    My gun broke so we bought a replacement. We attached gun to existing hose but as soon as we turned water and power on the hose exploded. I thought maybe there was a kink that I didn’t see so we bought a new hose. We made sure no kinks after connecting to washer and gun. As soon as water and power were turned on hose exploded again about halfway down the hose. We can’t figure out what is wrong. Hose and gun are the model replacements for our washer that is listed online.

    how to change the fittings on the hose? black n decker

  • @veritas2022

    So the black cylinder that was unscrewed and pushed down is what he called a coupler. My coupler has detached from the string guard. Correct me if I'm wrong, but this coupler, when screwed on after the fitting is inserted, makes sure the fitting does not detach and "pop" out of the brass/bronze fitting on the gun. This is my problem now. I can insert the fitting, but now that my black cylinder coupler is detached, my fitting just pops/blows off from the gun fitting when I turn on the hose. How do I fix this?

    • @markiemark4544
      @markiemark4544 10 месяцев назад

      It sounds like you need to go to your local Home Depot and purchase a new coupler then screw that on over the hose line.

    Never had a high pressure hose cracked, one is over 30 years old. Never had one won't unscrewed either. Ryobi is low end, not surprised they cut corners on the hoses. Don't let the hose touch the hot exhaust shield, it will burn a hole in it. I went through 5 high pressure washers. My electric one is junk with plastic pump and cracked in no time and cost more to replace the pump that buying it again. Maybe the more expensive electrics use brass pumps. Two of the gas ones have unloader problems, where the pump cycles on and off resulting in no pressure. Great Honda engines, pumps not so good. Two working fine, one on the bench for repair remaining two in the trash. Shame all the gas engines were good.
