When it comes to VR (1HMD & 2Hand controllers), a different kind of optimization is needed for the content, and the main system and effects used in this video are rather unnecessary. However, it would be interesting to compare them with similar content. (I think VR probably wins over the BodyCam method, since the former is just more inconvenient...)
This is the closest gmod recreation of unrecord I have ever seen, there are of course some small issues, like magnifier scopes not working sometimes, and the reload speed being too fast due to the Call of Duty weapons, but the free aim and screen overlay make it look so good!

this will bring about a new interest in what i call "Zeroing" having a non fixed point allowing the physical gun to aim around a O while moving and looking, this is similar to "Insurgency: Sandstorm" which i have 2200 hours in and its similar with an open circle in the center to aim around in whithout fully moving the camera, takes a little getting used to but is really cool for shooting around corners :)
the arms also move a little bit too far from the center of the body to really be "realistic", because face it, a body cam is fixed on your body, and you're going to be aiming "down" the sights through the center of your body, not moving your arms all over the place without also turning your body.
Trained operators will actually turn their whole body with the gun, but this looks cool! also could try changing the weapon model position to closer to the center of the screen
now im just gonna state my honest opinion i think eye view attachment does better than sharpeye. now unrecord is either a body cam game or shoulder or headcam game. i dont think its a body cam game because weapon position and arm position in the game. im gonna say head cam because thats what it seems like to me. but back on topic sharpeye free aim is a lot different than eye view attachment. sharpeye free aim you can clearly see your optic. while on eye view attachment you cant see it well. after analyzing unrecords footage you dont really see your sights that well. and also eye view attachment does have a kind of free aim. i dont expect you to read that but there you go
I'm not a big fan of the eye view attatchment. Though it replicates movements arguably more realistically, it uses the third person world model for your character and your weapons which can be low poly. It is jarring and immersion breaking to have low poly textures in your face whilst having detailed textures in the world. And the reload animations don't show well when using MWB and TFA. I'm sticking to Sharpye for now lol but Ive heard ARC9 to be a good combo with eye view attachment.
Frankly, I believe that this type of game is a genre that unless you love it very much, will be swallowed up by VR, which can achieve the same thing without scripting, only with hand tracking. Flat shooters are naturally easier to play with Terminator and Powered Armor-like aiming at the center of the screen, and many users don't want controls that are too difficult. (Especially if it's immersive...)
@@ni1chigo2115 well I can't really play VR because it literally makes me nauseous, so when done right, these kind of games are the only way I'll get to experience that kind of feeling. Also, the game Deppart has something similar and it feels great.
@@GameFuMaster Frankly, I think they are on the same level as far as screen sickness is concerned, and VR gives you some control over the sickness. Deppart looks like a piece that took advantage of the topic, but with that one, the regular FPS format or VR is still better...I don't feel it's meant to be a body cam.
This type of gameplay should become the new standard for FPS games. It would also allow it to transition into VR in a more seamless way while still maintaining more traditional controls on split motion controllers

from my testing the bullets from the gun dont really go where you aim, but u can fix this by increasing the fov of ADS to around 1.5 and normal fov to 1.3 and it should be decently accurate
0:00-0:20 How do you adjust the swing range of the mwb gun’s crosshair in the first 20 seconds? When I pull the gun, the crosshair moves very little and basically stays in the center.
I think it is time to consider what to do about the problem of hip shooting being as unreliable as it is when implementing free aim in flat games. In VR, I can manage without a laser sight because I can sense and correct my aim three-dimensionally based on the direction of the gun and where I hit the target, but in flat games, I don't feel like I can hit the target properly without ADS.
I was laughing how that game is capable of being mods in various games. I did a very very low effort mod for arma 3 that did some of the same things but I don't have a platform for it to get noticed lol.
The only unrealistic part is the combine soldiers missing shots and you being able to run around, if there was a mod that had a difficulty setting and bot accuracy it would allow for more realistic gameplay making it so that you cant just call of duty run around

Reload speeds are actually fairly equal to real life.
I airsoft a lot and I reload at the same speeds. You get fast with muscle memory.
