Debbie: Thanks for giving something back to the Sprinter RV community. You are a true renaissance woman. Err, now I just need a Sprinter, LOL. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!
Engineering must be in your family’s genes. It takes a certain kind of mind and perseverance to problem-solve the way that you and your bother display. I’m impressed. You just do not give up to intimidation. Wishing you all the best of everything.
BTW, just finishing warm window coverings for my van. I had quickly sewn on my Sailrite machine before i left for Alabama in February, found too small, adding contrast trim to edges. I found there are wide ranges of magnet strength, went with 12# & 20#. Any higher is too tight. Thank you for the time you put into your videos. Well done, entertaining, beautifully edited and music score .. enjoy them all!
Your videos are so unique incorporating great filming, subjects and practical info. Nothing like it on You Tube and my wife and I look forward to each one. You have found your niche. Plus being on the East Coast and planning to head out full time next year, we are adding your location recommendations to our bucket list. Thanks and will be checking out your brothers company. “John is fixing his junk” cracked me up!
Awesome videos! One idea might be to install some small magnets on the inside of the windows, and then sew in the magnets on the shade to match up with the magnets on the glass. That way, the magnets would only touch the glass, instead of the paint.
Great episode, you and your brother have a lot in common which is wonderful. I have purchased over the years 2 of his roll up tables. They are the best! One I have had for I believe for 30 years that I bought my dad as a retirement gift.
I bought the roll a chair and have been using it for about a week now. I love this Blue Chair! It's stands higher than most folding chairs. Light-weight and durable. Very comfortable, strong and sturdy with the 4 legs versus the my 3 leg camping chair. Hands down, this is one of the best folding chair I have used for all my outdoor activities. Gave it a 5 star rating. Thank you for sharing.
I really like your sunshade. I made window bug slipcovers with regular nylon screen. They work well while van is stationary, but wind damage would prevent my using in transit. Perhaps magnets to hold both thicknesses inside for shade while traveling. 🤔. Your brother has a great setup and I'm sure a lucrative business. Please let him know I appreciate the use of his machinery to demonstrate this project. Thank you. I always enjoy your videos and I am sure you are providing a much needed product.
For sure you can only use on inside while in transit. As far as Dave's business, the industry has changed dramatically over the years and he has had to make lots of adjustments to stay afloat. Oversees competition, supply challenges, all kinds of issues make running a small manufacturing business difficult.
BEBBIE NICE WORK , interesting , some years ago MINNIOPOLIS STARTED USING B20 bio diesel, but the jerks were using it @ much lower temp than designed got IT JUST HAPPENED TO BE A COLD WINTER, school busses broke down, then the tow truck sent ALSO BROKE DOWN , even road tractors with NORMAL DEISEL were having problems, so today I did some research so they got a whipping, so now, it is 5% OCT 1-MAR 31, then10% APRIL1 -APRIL 14 then 20% APRIL15 -SEPT 30 , SO THESE ARE THE FACTS . STAY WELL, & Happy Trails Cheers 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I live in Seattle and would have made the trip to Spokane had conditions allowed. I think it would be cool to meet such an awesome couple of people. Any time your in Seattle you’re welcome to mooch-dock here as long as you like.
Judy Weber Vastine THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING THIS! First, it reminded me I currently have a full set of snap on window/rock guards for a 1977 Argosy, I'm working on.. I WILL be making a template BEFORE it scoots off with it's new owner.. #2 my sister and her wife have one of these Sprinters and, with my new machine, I can make her this cover! And, #3 I AM going to find her and her brother and see if we can go moochdock and volunteer to help & learn (if they'll have me!)
Did you see the window curtains on Camping Coastie’s channel? They have a new Coachmen Beyond. She made them with a zipper down the middle to make it easier to access the window and you can just open one half of the curtain. Very cool!
Wish we could have done the whole trail. There appear to be a number of campgrounds around the lake. We seem to discover something new every time we visit.
Great family time! The Hiawatha trail is wonderful if you get the chance next time. The one you did here is pretty awesome too. Enjoyed the video. Thanks
It looks like a good trip to Spokane to visit your brother. Ice cream looked as good too! I am still interested in a 2018 Ram ProMaster if you ever make them.
From She to Me and why I will buy it from you rather than buy and sew the screening. I did buy more blackout screen material so I will try another set of them to have a choice of black out shade. Golden Retriever this time.
I stumbled across your channel & I luv it! Seeing you with those GIGANTIC SCISSORS ✂️ reminded me of my younger years at my dad's shop. My dad was a tailor by trade, where he had a small shop in downtown El Paso. Every Saturday my mom would take me & my younger brother to my dad's shop, to help my dad mend clothes or help out in anyway she could. She'd have me sit at the far end of this massive table, where my dad would roll out huge rolls of material. He had an ease about using these scissors, they'd fit perfectly in his folded hand, where he slowly would start to cut. It always left me in awe! Priceless memories! 💕 Thank you for sharing such wonderful content, luv how you've incorporated your family! 💕 Question? Did you ever get your Juki, just wondering? Yvonne🥰
@@FromShetoMe Just ordered the new narrower table this morning and corresponded with Leo. I think the table will be great! @@KatyInNH Yes, I'd love to see where you store it. You can email photos to me: energymaven@gmail.com Leo is the son-in-law. He and Dave go hiking almost every weekend and take the 3 year old granddaughter along. Apparently she's quite the outdoor enthusiast.
What a small world, we actually had used your brother’s mesh folding cot for years when my sons in were Boy Scouts and I was a scout master. Great product design. So much better than the old military style.
What about covering the magnets with a lightweight fabric to prevent scratching. With the magnets in the pockets that should alleviate losing the magnets or scratching, but if they were covered (like the weights in curtains) then you shouldn’t have scratching. Cool design by the way-wish I had a sprinter van. My big purchase last year was a T@B 320 tear drop and I’m in a learning curve on that. I have already ditched the table and added a Laguna table and made a twin bed conversion. Now I’m looking at figuring out tongue weight and what I can and cannot add. I am interested that with your converter you seem to be able to run an insta-pot and bread maker. I’ve pretty much avoided using much electricity boon-docking except for light and my computer. Finally, loved this episode partly because Spokane is a place I’ve considered retiring to. You will enjoy Craters of the Moon. BTW I am the person who thought your shoe-lace tip was fantastic. I have been following your videos for recipients, travel roots and all the fun tips.
Thanks Lisa. Regarding the magnets, the real culprit is the particles of debris in dirt and dust that stick to the magnet. Remember that kids game where you use a magnet to put hair and beards on the man? Same thing here. So the fabric would keep the magnet itself from scratching the paint but would not eliminate small particles that contain metals from sticking to the fabric covering the magnet. We’ve always liked those Tab trailers. As soon as the parts arrive, I’ll be working on adding the Lagun Table to the van. I’m a bit nervous about drilling holes into the rig but I need to get over it.
This episode reminds me of when I worked in my dad's Auto glass and Upholstery business making new seat covers for cars and such. Now with "crooked" fingers it's an experiment in frustration, LOL! Always interesting to see all your continuing upgrades to your Ascent. Me, I think I am finished with my older Ascent upgrades. Just getting better packing for the "girls" and I for - months on the road . When I see you again maybe you can give me some tips on flying my Mavic Air drone?
Hi Debbie. I have a couple of suggestions that may, or may not, help. First, love the sunshades but of course we have the Promaster. I modified magnetic screens for our side and back doors, and I used leftover screen for side window covers. I use the magnets shaped like a pawn and they are small but strong and are easy to get off. On the windshield screen, where you have the little triangle with the magnet, I noticed the magnet has sticky on the back. Have you considered putting a little round felt pad on it? The type that is used on the bottom of chair feet. Which bikes do you guys have? Yours looks like the RAD mini step thru 2? I’m struggling with whether I should get one, and if I’d be safe on it. Haven’t ridden in forever and not as fit as you are. I think it’s great your brother will be able to process the screens. Take care and stay safe.
Thanks Martha for the suggestion. I'll keep experimenting and see if I can come up with a solution. I just know how litigious some people are and don't need that headache in my life. As to the RAD, I think the step through 2 is the 2020 model. Mine is the 2018/2019 model. But it has worked out really well. It is heavy but if you are in reasonable shape, you should be fine. I did change the brakes though. We sometimes get on some pretty long steep hills and the mechanical brake seemed to tire out my hands too much. The new hydraulic brake makes it a little bit easier and it is a really simple installation. Here is the video that can tell you all about that: ruclips.net/video/eqR-k3C-6nk/видео.html&feature=emb_logo I shot footage of the install but haven't put it together yet. Maybe in a few weeks. If you were close by I'd let you try mine out.
From She to Me that’s sweet of you for that offer. Believe me, I’m really weary of being on the east coast. Sigh. I totally get the whole “possible to be sued” issue. I have a small business and it’s a reality. I keep my side screens and pawn magnets in a zip bag in the passenger door pocket - because the bugs love me it’s the first thing I do is put them up when we land somewhere. LOL. Take care and stay safe.
suction cups will fall of with temperature changes. If the magnets are strong enough maybe add a layer of fabric that will act as a cushion against scratching
I see you’re using the drone again. I want one but am worried I won’t be able to use it, I’m not very techy. I’m thrilled you’re going to continue working on the windshield cover. I sent you an email for the blanks. The window screen you created is it with the same material? I would definitely buy those as well, blanks or otherwise. Those magnets you recommended are awesome but can be really hard to get off the metal from the van. What I did was create little covers for them with goose grain ribbon. I left a bit extra on the end so I have a handle to grab the magnet with. So far so good and I use them for many different things in the van. As always happy and safe travels 🚐😷❤️
Thanks. I've been working on my project all weekend and pulled the magnets out of their pockets on one of my prototypes, I was amazed at how much sandy grit was clinging to them. So I've decided I have to go in a different direction. For my car, it's fine, but lots of folks are really picky about the finish of their vehicles.

They are sewn in, but with mesh instead of a solid fabric. I'm probably being a bit overly nervous but you now how it is.
