    I just saw that another person mentioned the electric meat carving knife to cut foam and I have used one of my serrated edge knives. I love how you make so many of your own things. We do too! I want to tank you so much for all you both have taught us about RV’ing in a small RV and life is short so taking time for living is important! Go do it!!

    Thanks for the update and the projects. I used a two bladed electric craving knife to cut my similar mattress. Like the flooring material and yes, a tad pricey. Agree on the medical checkups and do it every six months and gene pool is working on me as well.

    As a fellow “sewist”, I love the sewing projects. I used to have an industrial machine and sold it. Your video makes me regret doing that. I needed the space because I got into quilting and my sewing machines and long arm needed that space. I made curtains for our small 5th wheel with black out liner material and home Dec fabric.

    Welcome back. You’ve been busy! Fun seeing your visit to DCA. We finally made it back from the Northwest where we spent all Fall. But in the process our propane system stopped working and we have yet to be able to get it fixed despite having a mobile tech and RV service place back up in Oregon try. Until we get it fixed we are tethered to hookups. This is the lowest point of our 7 year RV journey. On the positive we finally got an Omnia Oven for ourselves for Christmas and look forward to using it soon as we hit the road with propane

    Hi Debbie, so happy to see you back. We are actually in the southern U.S. on our 3rd trip from Ontario, Canada. This year we plan (hopefully) to make it to California again in late Feb and stay to Mid March. Was wondering if you or any of your subscribers reading these comments would be able to say if Hwy 395 is drivable for a van in the winter months ? Is there a northern point I should just stop at ? I'm not too concerned about cold temps, but I have no interest in driving in the snow. ....Have driven in snow my whole life, and I"m leaving that for everyone back home 😆 Regardless of any responses posted here, my wife and I always thoroughly enjoy your videos. Please put out videos at whatever frequency you care to, we're just grateful to see them.

    • @FromShetoMe
      @FromShetoMe  Месяц назад +1

      395 is a major highway and plowed frequently to keep it open. Just check the weather and avoid it during a storm and extreme wind events. You should be fine and can change your route if necessary. It is a beautiful drive.

    Good to see you back. I have used several of your ideas in our van. The Warm Window fabric has been a life saver. The Omnia oven has been a good additional also.
    Can you use shower curtain hooks for the cab curtain instead of the silicon straps? We hung a drapery rod behind the cab and use black out curtains. We don’t roll them up, we just push them aside and fasten them back.

    • @FromShetoMe

  • @jodic8683
    @jodic8683 Месяц назад +1

    Hey Debbie, thanks for sharing your projects!
    Creating a floor covering out of the Chilewich fabric is on my short list. I happen to have 2 samples from Sailrite. #1 106733 Ikat Tweed and #2 106735 Basketweave Oyster.
    Which flooring fabric did you use?
    I see @ 5:30 minutes that you added a binding to one of the fabric pieces. Do you recall what you used for your binding?
    I'm intrigued by your button hole tool. My industrial Juki is a straight stitch machine and I love her but she has limited purpose. Sadly my domestic is old and frail so I'm shopping around for a capable multi-purpose machine. What machine/s are you using for these projects?
    Happy New Year and hope to cross paths this year.

    • @FromShetoMe
      @FromShetoMe  Месяц назад +1

      Ikat tweed. It was thinner than the more expensive line. It’s 1” binding but I don’t recall the name. I have too many machines: an older Husquvarna, several sergers, a cover stitch machine, and an industrial Consew that is my favorite except it only does a straight stitch. I inherited a lot of things from my mom including the button hole maker but you could actually do it by hand if you had to. Black covers up lots of my mistakes. 😅

    Valuable advice from personal experience:
    ALWAYS wear a leather glove when using a utility knife. ESPECIALLY situation where Debbie was cutting the floor mat, one hand holding the straight edge.
    IF/WHEN that blade moves wrong, disaster can result!

    Deb, Happy New Year to you and John! I am curious about the fabric/flooring you added to your rig…does it add a little more cushion to your floors? does it help insulate from colder outside temperatures? what did you use to fasten it to the rig floor? is it textured or smooth? does it come in other colors/patterns? is there a link to the seller? Thanks in advance! Leslie

    • @FromShetoMe
