We clearly just poured the dram without looking into the whisky more and did not know it was unpeated until trying it and then looking it up after the review to confirm. Not the most professional review we have done but that's ok we hope.
I really cant understand why you guys dont have more views! You guys are the best whisky reviewers on the planet! Cheers and greetings from Deventer, the Netherlands.
Great review sounds really intersting for unpeated dram. Caol Ila is one of the distillerys I often over look. I have had a few very nice IB's but I tend to buy the younger stuff.
I have a couple of these bottles. Really nice whisky and I agree these special releases are done well. These are unpeated I believe. Also glad TWE will ship to us again.
You guys picked that peat level out. Awesome! I've never tried the unpeated but I love the heavy sherried Caol Ilas from the past year or so from Adelphi and Cooper's Choice. Caol Ila is usually such a great value compared to some of the other Islays. Cheers fellas!
These are probably in the $120 range in the US. In Canada they range between $160-$190 cad. In Ontario the government controlled liquor stores released them by mistake for $106 Cad. Our mutual friend Rob W6 cleaned off a shelf and made sure all his friends got one :)
Dope review. I have a bottle of this stashed away and it's still a bargain in the market compared to the price of other 18 year old limited releases from other distilleries. Do you guys know if the US will be getting any of the 2020 Diageo special releases?

I really like the unique “machine oil” note on the 12 YO unpeated Caol Ila. Great distillery...thanks.

Yah as you can see we didn't look up much info on this one before reviewing the sample. Excellent prices honestly. Well done!!
Dang! I actually have a bottle that u reviewed!!! Haha now I’m gonna have to go find it and crack it!
lol, we dont have this bottle, so you win.
Unpeated but I agree that there is still a hint of peat and remains coastal. Very sweet which I love.
100% Very nice indeed!
