    The other change for the 49ers after the bye ( as well as getting healthy) was the benching of Oliver for Thomas and moving Lenoir inside, the coverage on the back end has been so much better these last 4 games.

    People keep shitting on the 'ew we have to watch Minshew vs Browning on Sunday' matchup... As somebody from Washington that watches the Apple Cup every year, Im sure EJ can vouch for this... Minshew vs Browning has a chance to be a gunslinger matchup the likes of which we havent seen in decades. If the coaches allow it its going to be an absolute spectacle.

    As much as i love (pun intended) the discussion about the Packers, i think the change over the past couple weeks is being overstated.
    Jordan has certainly improved his accuracy to some degree since the start of the year, but just as big a problem was miscommunication (or flat out mistakes) by the Packers WR and TE groups.
    The pass-catchers in this offense may literally be the youngest group in the Super Bowl era. The Packers offense heavily relies on anticipation from the QB and that's a two way street: the QB needs to throw to the right spot AND the WR needs to get to the right spot. As good as Adj Comp % is as a stat, its not necessary always a reflection of QB accuracy

  • @choosecarefully408
    @choosecarefully408 5 месяцев назад +3

    1.5 air yards for Deebo in that game. 1.5. Air Yards. & he got over 100 All By Himself.
    _That_ is the kind of stat that should make him MVP.

    Brett I would love a film room episode on the way the 9ers pass rush played vs the eagles. It was not a stat sheet game at all, but I think their selfless and disciplined approach will lay the blueprint for how d lines rush vs mobile qbs. Can you teach us more about that fascinating game plan?

Win or go home situation against the best teams in the NFL would i look at McCarthy and think he's going to provide any schematic advantages or trust him to make the right call at the right time? He really needs to play at his peak level to get that team to the promise land. I’m a Lions fan but you’re exactly right, the defense has been shakier than predicted, so we need some elite QB play. Maybe he can hone 2018 regular season Goff.

    • @choosecarefully408
      @choosecarefully408 5 месяцев назад

      No: come _on!_ Even outside of this season, Goff has been consistently inept *when the defense gets in his face.* For instance, do you know how many points Goff-led teams have in Goff's last 2 games against Bellichick? three.
      Three Whole Points in Two Full Games.
      What's happening to Goff right now has been happening to him his Entire Career. He *almost lost* to the *Bears* due only to this.

I definitely did type that & we can see that I did, making you arguing against things I definitely did say & criticizing that a Correct Strategy & not one avoiding anything I *did actually* say. No need to waste time discussing that I pointed out that these are examples of Goff crumbling under pressure. Because one definitely Can Not find me saying _that:_ only things you claim I said ARE things I said.

    • @Snoil
      @Snoil 5 месяцев назад

      @@choosecarefully408 You're still avoiding the real point, Goff isn't the problem, it's the defense in Detroit that's going to hold them back. And while you can go ahead with the now-tired Goff sucks narrative dating back to when McVay wanted to dump him, he's actually really good. Check all the metrics, they tell the real story. Good enough to overcome how bad the Lions' DEF has been? Well jury is out on that. Now, I guess you're mentioning of 2 games vs Belichick, one of which was nearly 6 years ago, was apparently meaningless? Then why bring it up? Or, it DID mean something and you didn't like getting caught leaning on small, cherry picked sample sizes. You might be "in writing' or not, but the entire body of work outweighs cherry picking a few games and then ignoring the rest.

    The issues with Jalen hurts are 1: He’s hurt. 2 Be doesn’t trust the Offensive game plan. It is very clear that he doesn’t trust the basic routes and lack of run game for success. That has led Jalen to want to play outside of structure because that’s were he knows how to win with that. 3: the overall offense is very poorly schemed and called. The routes are basic, there is little to no true run game and there are far too many terrible predictable screens. The entire offense doesn’t work. And what makes it worse is even though everyone thought the OC Brian Johnson was leading the game plan, But it was actually Sirianni and all eagles fans know he can’t call games or lead the game plan cause the last time he did we went 2-5. This offense needs a new OC from outside the organization. I’m a Eagles Fan and this sucks cause Jalen now wants nothing else but a Ring and he won’t get one with change for this offense

      I've been wondering about this but I haven't seen footage or heard anyone call this out. Brett _FINALLY_ has called out Kellen Moore & it took 75% of the season to go by before we got to hear One Guru say this most obvious thing.
      Both offenses performed better without him. He's made Mike McCarthy *and Joe Lombardi* look better. He & Staley should be out of coaching after this season.

    You are not alone in your reversal of Mike McCarthy being the play caller for the Cowboys. I am a Cowboys fan and based on McCarthy's game management skills I was so against the idea of that dude being the offensive play caller. I also admit that I was wrong. The Cowboys offense has been extremely strong since he's been calling and their early season Red zone issues seem to have become much less concerning. I did see quite a few problems earlier in the season especially with their Red zone performance against the Arizona Cardinals but it's gotten better and better as the season has progressed and even looked good against better teams such as the Eagles and the Seahawks. Unfortunately it didn't work against the 49ers but then again few team's offenses work against the 49ers.

      McDermott makes decisions (like going to a different time zone only two days in advance so that they were half-asleep & couldn't play well _OR_ even not get injured?) & he sat & watched Dorsey call consistently bad plays that everyone, even I could identify as bad for over a year & did nothing. The NFL has many inept coaches.
