Written Steps:
1. Download & Install SCP Toolkit from the link provided.
2. Plug in controller and bluetooth dongle.
3. Run the driver installer. Check bluetooth driver and dualshock 3 driver.
4. Select bluetooth dongle and device.
5. Click install.
6. The controller should now work over USB.
7. Unplug the controller and it should be recognized by the computer.

UPDATE APRIL 2nd 2020 - Hey guys just wanted to give an update now that this video is a few years old:
○ First of all, this video is still working great in 2020 (hence why I updated the title).
○ Once you install the Bluetooth drivers, your Bluetooth adapter will be "locked" to just you PS3 controller. You will NOT be able to use anything but the PS3 controller, over Bluetooth, until the Bluetooth drivers are uninstalled. This is why you won't see the Bluetooth icon in your tray, and Windows will say you don't have a Bluetooth adapter.
○ If you are having any general issues, such as your controller not connecting after install (4 blinking lights), use the scp clean wipe tool to uninstall the drivers. It can be found by searching for it in the start menu. Run the the tool then restart your PC then reinstall the drivers. This fixes 95% of errors.
○ If your keyboard / mouse no longer works after install, this is a common bug where your keyboard and mouse drivers were replaced rather than your controller's, get another mouse then run the SCP clean wipe tool as mentioned above.
○ If your controller doesn't work after you shutdown or restart your computer refer to this video: ruclips.net/video/0mtRvpriBno/видео.html

Hey I don't have a Bluetooth dongle on my desktop . Win 10 . I installed only ps3 driver only . I have a genuine controller . After installing controller is doesn't connect
Never knew there was a full install program for this. I had been using slightly different version of SCP for awhile where you had to manually add the program folder and such but this is way more straight forward.

8 months later, I then realised that the SCP tool will install a very specific bluetooth driver for the PS controllers. In result, Windows will not be able to use bluetooth for other stuff, like keyboard/mouse and headset. Please be aware.

2022 and still working perfectly bro. I encountered a problem when I was installing SCP Toolkit ( that some prerequisites cannot be downloaded because it was the wrong size) but luckily I was able to find a RUclips video which helped me to install them and it finally works perfectly.

This worked great for 2 of my controllers! Sadly the other two (that I bought online) were apparently nongenuine controllers. They could not connect over bluetooth. I would love to see a tutorial explaining how to make the nongenuines work over bluetooth.

Suggestion: If you use a dongle, when you finish all the stuff and open the scpmonitor , probably you will se host isnt connected, "to fix that you need to unplug the dongle and plug it again". Then you ll see the host works fine. After that disconnect your ps3 controller.

Hello I have questions to you. So if I use Dualshock 3 on Bluetooth, I can not use Bluetooth for transfer file and anything? Do you have idea how to connect Dualshock 3 and Wii remote together same time(so can play Mario kart on dolphin 1 use Dualshock 3 and 1 use Wii remote)use Bluetooth? Or maybe try use 2 dongle Bluetooth?Sorry if my English not good.

Gave you a like. I was having trouble getting my new mobo to detect the controller with Dualshock 3. With your "lightbulb moment" video, I manually input some settings and away I was.
I don't use my bluetooth for any other connections so I'm fine with this as opposed to having yet another USB cable connected (wired kb and mouse so no clash here!).

I did this with an old PS3 controller, I got rid of it and now my new controller only turns on the 2nd and 3rd player light (at the same time) and doesn't recognize it by bluetooth. I reinstalled everything (even SCP) but it stil doesn't work, as if my computer still have caché of my old controller. Any help?

''disclaimer'' SCP hijacks your Bluetooth dongle for its use and it's use only, even if u uninstall scp or even get a new windows, your dongle will be ruined and will not work with anything other than your ps3 controller and of course that only IF IT WORKS
The SCP drivers does in fact hijack your Bluetooth dongle, but if you properly uninstall the drivers or reinstall Windows you will be able to use your Bluetooth dongle again.
In my case, it never worked again, i've tried every possible scenario that can fix it but it never worked again, i just gave up and got a new one

The only thing I can think of at the moment is your bluetooth adapter is not compatible with the scp drivers. I look it to it and i'll let you know if I find a solution.
You may want to select "XBOX 360 Controller for Windows" as the DualShock 3 controller. ;)

When I try to connect with Bluetooth the Host Address comes up as negative in the SCP Monitor. Not sure what to do as I installed the Bluetooth driver and double checked the Bluetooth dongle can find my other devices first

Hey so I have the same problem, here is what I have found, when you choose the Bluetooth dongle it lists the VID and PID numbers next to it. It turns out that the github page says which dongles it supports based on those two numbers, but the page hasn't been updated since 2016 so my newer PC's bluetooth isn't listed. Furthermore after I choose my Intel(R) Wireless Bluetooth(R) (VID: 8087, PID: 0029) motherboard bluetooth devide (which doesn't work for this tutorial) my regular bluetooth stopped working. I had to use the same tool and uninstall the driver to get my bluetooth back. So I think that it converts the dongle into a dedicated PS3 wireless dongle. I am gonna try to buy a dongle and see if I can get mine to work.
So I got the dongle and still no luck. Also an interesting note, even though I had bluetooth through the motherboard and with the dongle, when I downloaded the dongle driver bluetooth just disappeared from the windows device manager. It sounds like the Windows 10 Creators update broke compatibility and the author of the software has been inactive for years. I am not sure if it would work with a PS4 controller, I might try that if I can borrow one soon.
Brian Franco I’ve been trying to get this to work also. With integrated Bluetooth it doesn’t work but I use to have it work before.

[Third Party Controller Works] Basically when you download SCP it will tell you that your PC "lacks prerequisites" to run it. If you simply click "next" nothing will happen. You need to check that tiny box so it will download those "prerequisites" for you. Once you do that the SCP Toolkit will run and you will see what he sees. Besides that great tutorial dude!

@@NewDawnFadesX no problem at all! i just found out that is simple as that: just connect the second controller with the cable, wait and then unplug. the bluetooth will start working just fine. if don't ,(happened to me), then unlug the dongle and plug it again

I play game in my living room, and I leave my laptop in my bedroom. I have 2 bluetooth devices: headphone and DS3. Upon reading review, it seems once installed, no other bluetooth devices can be used.
