    I think that Madine was the right commander for the fleet, the problem is just that you turned too hard, too fast. I get that you needed to get around the front arcs, but this seems like the type of list that you definitely need some experience flying, so maybe give it a couple more runs to see if you can get a better handle on it.

      I got much better with this fleet while flying a Cracken version in the ITC TTS tournament. Some changes to suit my style and function better.

    I liked Madine for the manueverability, not sure if a different Commander would have changed the outcome. Having that interdictor play tank and healer was the Savior of the fleet. I also really liked Vader as commander choice in this fleet.

    • @IONRadio
      @IONRadio  3 года назад +3

      I am inclined to agree. My MC30s were coming in hot and should have torn the Onagers to shreds. Having that Interdictor definitely helped keep them alive.

  • @Sackit26

    Personally I prefer Craken over Maddine because most of the time I feel like my Rebel smalls basically can get where they need to go with just the nav command. My personal experience is that its hard to get 3 MC30s all engaged, but two isn't too bad. When I take two I usually have one scout and one torpedo, and the scout has TRC and the Torpedo has H9s. Maybe swap the Hammerhead and Lando for two TRC90s?

    • @IONRadio
      @IONRadio  3 года назад +1

      It's funny you mention that. My next iteration swaps Madine out for Cracken. Torp Frigates become Scouts. Hammerhead and Hera are dropped in favor of Luke and BCC.

    As someone who loves the MC30 I agree with some other comments that it's difficult to get them to succesfully chase. The only way to reliably unload all the black dice into the enemy is if you only have 1 that can activate first (which is a shame) or if you have something that can pin your target in place. I'd consider swapping out the hammerhead and one of the MC30s for the Aspiration, with 6 forward shields, and just ram it up the target Onager's nose so it can't go anywhere, and then break its back with the MC30s.

  • @Masterofdestaster93
    @Masterofdestaster93 3 года назад +3

    I feel like swapping the MC30s from Scouts to the Torpedo variant would have given the Rebel fleet a few more chances for accuracies, since Onagers only have single tokens and no Defensibe Retrofits. Another change could be the Hammerhead, I much prefer the cheaper Torpedo variant if the sole purpose of the ship is blocking and threatening a few extra dice if it gets to live long enough. Finally, maybe try a Slicer Tools GR75 to make the fleet better not only versus Squadron Onager lists, but also be able to slice Navigate Commands off of big ships trying to outrun the MC30 swarm.
    Thanks for the video guys, top content as always :)

    Now onto the percentages! (Numbers are rounded off)
    Ship vs Ship - John had a 26% red blank (18% for the season) and a 13% black blank (14% for the season) percentage. Ken had a 5% red blank (21% for the season) and 14% (22% for the season) black blank percentage.

    Thanks for the Armada content guys. I think your plan with this list is to block with your transports to allow the MC30's to throw all their dice. MC30s (whilst fast) hate chasing. You'll lose your transports or a MC30 but hopefully take out a flagship or something worth more points. I was actually surprised when you increased to speed three on the transport to keep up with the Onager? (IMO) You should have turned in to block the Interdictor to try and stop his escape...
    If you try to maneuver the MC's to not take shots then you wont get any back because they have no range. They are also quite tanky and with Admo Lando can usually take a front arc ISD without dying. Meaning that it will block the next turn and get another shot off again!
    Also I think Cracken would be slightly better. Give you a bit more tankiness. 1 less dice never hurts.

      @@IONRadio I have been thinking, and maybe one thing that may work better to go up against the double oneger would be to try out a GAR fleet with OB-1, and thermal shields. Another idea would be bombers. Would an Akbar fleet be a better choice for those extra red dice?

      They all were Torpedo Frigates... Do you mean Scout Frigates?

  • @stevewilton8215
    @stevewilton8215 3 года назад +1

    Ken, if you are going to fly scout mc30's, put TRC on them. Personally, I would change them to torpedo mc30's for the better accuracy chance. I would also drop the hammerhead for some rogues. If you continue to use Maxine, you need to take advantage of his ability. I never saw you perform an inside turn. You can stay at a higher speed that way and not travel as far. Also, you were first player... You need to always make sure you have one of your mc30's in a double arc by the end of the turn. Even if you came in from the front instead of trying to fly them all in from the side. First/last is your friend...use it.

    I haven't played in a while but I don't see the use of the Hammerhead. I'd rather have a 30-some point bid for first than have that thing (I know that you went first anyway but still). I'd also run torpedo frigates rather than scouts. And I'd do Mon Mothma as the commander. Nav every turn with the MC30s and just dive into the flank/rear for black dice carnage.

    • @oldschooloverlord

      The Hammerhead is decent, it's nice and cheap while being threatening enough that if it's ignored it will generate some real damage. On the Scout Corvette it's common to see slaved turrets for some extra long ranged firepower - 4 red is no joke, especially with an active Intensify Firepower!

    Hey guys I love the weekly vids and I love the backseat Admiral videos. I have a question cus I’m newish to armada but what’s the difference between say a friendly list and a competitive list?

    • @IONRadio
      @IONRadio  3 года назад

      It really comes down to optimization I thing for the difference between friendly and competitive. A friendly list will generally have a theme or a gimmick the player is trying out. A competitive list has been refined to face pretty much every type of opponent. We do not play to many competitive fleets on the channel. If you look back to this season episode 3 and 4 are examples of competitive fleets. Both the sloane (S01.E03) and Thrawn (S01.E04) are competitive fleets and you can see that they are brutally efficient. -John

    Impressive... Most Impressive! Vader on and Interdictor straddled by x2 Onagers. Grabbed some popcorn and soda! This is going to be good, as I see the opening screen credits and strange new ships really not seen at anytime before! Oh yeah Vader. For Ken's fleet, I think Mon Mothma would be a bit more effective, maybe change them to "Torpedo Frigates" as you have to get close to use the Concussion Torps anyways. with a ready Nav, you could do hit and run attacks. Foresight and Admonition are a must. :) Drop one activation.. still having 5 add expanded hanger or Bomber command and add 3 Y-Wings for annoyance.

    • @IONRadio
      @IONRadio  3 года назад +1

      The answer you seek really depends on a number of factors and isn't something that can be answered easily. Some things to consider: Cost ($60 difference) and need (would you use the Munificent or 3-4 hardcells versus the Pelta). Which faction are you actively playing? Do you have a desire to collect at least one of everything?
      I would ask yourself what your reasoning is for picking up the 2nd Munificent vs the GAR Pelta. That may be the best way to look at it.
