- Eighty-eight-year-old Jerry Lewis puts his hand and footprints in cement at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood. Aides hold up Jerry by his arms when his legs fail him after kneeling. Jerry has the crowd laughing at his silly antics and poses for photos with his wife SanDee and daughter Danielle. Includes shot of Quentin Tarantino introducing Jerry to the audience.

Why on earth didn't they have that cement up on something, so he wouldn't have to get down on the ground like that?🙄 He's 88 years old here!
His legs didn't fail him. He was getting up from the ground, and his knees were a little rusty!
I hate false titles. But these assholes need views to feel good about themselves.
I always loved Jerry Lewis
His adopted daughter inherited everything. His sons got zilch!
He may have made people laugh but he was a miserable mean man when it came to his family. Have you seen the interview in his last years where he went out of his way to be as rude as possible. No adoration here for someone like that.
I remember years ago the people in charge of the Telethon that he hosted said that he never got any money and did it voluntarily. He got millions of dollars under the table for years and years. I respected him all my life regardless but to do what he did to his own kids in his will was pathetic!
that's a lie ,
I saw him do an interview within a couple years before he died. In the interview he made a big deal, to great applause and approval, over how his sons were his greatest legacy. Then he cuts them out of his will! Creepy Man and his Golddigger wife!
@@patman83 If Jerry's real life children haven't gotten rich over the family name that's their fault. The opportunities were always there to coast on daddy's name. He owed them nothing. It always goes to the new wife. As it should.
Also, Jerry's real-life kids sold exaggerated stories to tabloids about getting whipped as kids. My best friend worked with one of the Cosby sons who told him his brother talked him into doing the book filled with lies for money. Christina Crawford recently admitted the same thing about what she wrongfully did to Joan Crawford. Jerry is Lord. God should take lessons from him about helping humanity. So you losers who can't live with yourselves and all your loserships without cutting down the greatest contributor to mankind, can go suck raw eggs.
No you got it wrong. He had to bail one of his kids from drunk driving,rape,drugs...He once spend half a million dollars ($500,000) on just one kid helping him out.
This is wonderful!
I can't believe they waited until he's 88 to give him this honor.
Long overdue!😊
It is very strange
The person getting it has to apply for it pay for it and be approved. He probably didn't want to spend the money.
He doesn't deserve it....
Those are same two legs that stood 21hours straight on Labor Day in the earlier Telethon Years for 3 decades raising tens of millions of dollars for MD. Time took Mr. Lewis out, like Stallone said in the movie in the restaurant to young Creed: "Time takes everybody out it's undefeated."
Once Mr. Lewis started taking six hours off and driving around the stage in a motorized cart, I sadly realized that an end of a great Era of entertainers and television was coming to an end.
Vivi minha infância vendo os filmes dele.que nostalgia.
Jerry era o melhor e ninguém vai supera-lo! Rio de Janeiro Brasil
Jerry takes great pride in dressing well, he certainly looks nice in this clip. I was ten years old when Dean's and Jerry's movies were so popular. In those days, we were starved for entertainment and Jerry could usually make the kids laugh. I remember imitating Jerry and getting spanked for acting silly,,,lol.
Lewis & Martin were the Beatles of the late 40's early 50's. They were MONSTERS, HUGE and it was because of Jerry Lewis. He
was a comedic genius of the first order. It wasn't until much later that it came out about his private life. But heck, Bing Crosby was
an abusive father. Rock Hudson was gay. Robert Mitchum smoked weed etc; they all had a skeleton in the closer and Lewis
was no different. He was a unique comedian who never failed to deliver on laughs
Eu não perdia um filme dele, minha juventude foi muito boa , obrigada Jerry
I remember being so sick sometimes, but when one of Jerry Lewis movies would air I would laugh so hard and I kid you not, Jerry made me feel better and from then on I look forward to watching all of Jerry Lewis movies.
Lewis is the Welsh version of Louis [apparently] :)
One of my 1st celebrity moments was at about 4 when my mom took me to see JERRY & DEAN in person opening a film downtown. JERRY was my Favorite . This was a few months after seeing JUDY GARLAND in Concert. JERRY IS WITHOUT A DOUBT A TRUE COMIC GENIUS.
He was a unft father, even after he is gone
@@michaeldarcangelo9883 What makes you think his kids deserved a dime? Small nobodies have to attack the great achievers out of jealousy. It's really pathetic of you all.
Jerry was the man, the original Nutty Professor , from the classic 60s movie, not the crappy remake. Many good memories, thanks Jerry.
Do you know Jerry Lewis was a consultant on the remake which features comedian Eddie Murphy? I think both are equally great!
Love him or hate him, Jerry Lewis was an origami. He was intelligent, could be funny ass hell. The best of Lewis was the playing with the crowd.
Un genio del humor.Mil gracias por hacerme reír que es lo más difícil.
Um dos melhores comediante eu simplesmente adimiro lembranças da nossa infância fim dos anos 80
If you didn't know then I will tell you.Jerry Lewis saved my life.He told the story that because of the years of falling doing comedy he hurt his back so bad that he had back pain so bad and could not take the pain anymore. To the point that he had a gun in his mouth ready to end the pain.A relative walked into the room and he did not pull the trigger. Then he got help with a device implanted in his back that pumped meds into his spine and it saved him.I have the same crippling pain in my back. When ever I want to just end my pain I think of Jerry and I hold on one more day hoping to find a way to kill my pain and not kill myself.
Wasn't Jerry Lewis a drug addict?
@@cherylkoski7184 You are asking a thoughtless question. Jerry Lewis injured his spine soon after he became famous, when he was very young. He went through his entire working life in pain belying his smiles and positive outlook. Of course he was on heavy medication. And yes, of course he needed drugs like no one else. But you don't lump him together with "drug addicts"!
Que amor e que humor é esse.Muita disposição.👏
I'm a little too young to remember this guy but he seems to be just as silly in old age. I hope I'm still having that much fun.
Watch his movies Ray, he is among the funniest of all time.
When I was a little child in 1968 to 1973 I laughed a lot watching his films and in 2020 watching him at the age of 88 makes me happy just to see him making me laugh again. It is a pleasure to see him and I am still his fan.
You realize he was an absolute monster, right?
Quantas saudades dos filmes de Jerry Lewis.
Jerry Lewis é SHOWWWW...GRATIDÃO!!!
That's the funniest thing Jerry ever did for sure....
Yeah maybe it’s just not my time but everything I’ve seen from him I just don’t find funny I find annoying. And I can’t chalk it up to the time because Abbott and Costello were way before him and I think people like them, the Marx brothers and buster keaton are hilarious, so it isn’t a product of it’s time thing I thought Dean Martin was pretty funny and rickles is obviously hilarious. I think his status as a celebrity overtook what he actually was as a comedian or comedic actor everyone just talks about how classy these guys and this time were, I mean they STILL say that even with everything that came out about him. Even if you’re naive enough to believe all of those women are lying, and all these people he’s worked with are lying fine. You don’t believe his kids?? That he was an abusive father and husband, and took them out of the will because they tried to help and protect their mother that he had been abusing for 30 years? He was a selfish scumbag. Didn’t care about his children, his grandchildren, he only kept his second wife and their adopted kid in the will, and only 2 of 5 of his sons were even allowed to attend the funeral. Idk how anyone can try to defend him as a person you can’t say “oh it’s just the time back then” because he did all this shit with his kids towards the end, that was recently and he even continued sexually harassing women into the 2010s
@@byHexted well, grow some sense of humor.
Those who aren't "Baby Boomers" will never truly appreciate Jerry's genius. He is more than just an actor and comedian. He studied, participated, and worked in every phase of movie production. I suggest looking around for some documentary footage from a few decades ago that show just how talented this man is. He was here in Las Vegas not long ago and I missed his show. What a loss to have missed an evening with a true showman. :-(
GuamChris - I'm not a baby boomer, but I certainly do. His movies both with Dean as well as his solo's, were played in the 70's when I was a kid. I love him more than words can express. I also have a 20 year old daughter who thanks to being exposed to his movies through me, loves him; not quite as much as me, but I am a little obsessed with the man. 😊 I own everything I've been able to get my hands on, and I watch documentaries and interviews. Jer on The Dick Cavett is my favourite ☺
I'm a baby boomer and never could stand the guy. He was never funny, just annoying like a fly in your face.
I'm gen X and I absolutely love the guy.... even though he sadly passed away recently, I'll never forget him. I absolutely loved watching him growing up.... lots of laughs. What an intelligent and amazing person he was. He wasn't perfect by all means, but he definitely had heart and demonstrated that throughout his life. RIP Jerry.
cindy pattana I too am a baby boomer (born just four years after the War), and I feel exactly the same way as you. Jerry’s ‘humour’ always left me cold except when he worked with Dean, and then only because of Dean’s contribution to the act. I know many people will disagree, and that’s their prerogative, but for me Dean’s ad-libs and extremely witty one-liners were far more hilarious than all of Jerry’s yelling and chewing-up-the-scenery antics.
@@lindashelley3635 Everything was scripted, even the mistakes. There was too much money and fame tied to just "winging it." I believe this to be true because Mr. Lewis was a highly detailed perfectionist and one could tell how visually irritated he would become when something did not go as planned. Yes, he was a great extemporaneous speaker too...
Very happy about it! ☺
What made Lewis intriguing to me was what he could say or do in public you really never knew what could come out of his mind ..
since he passed, despite being famous - his coworkers and family have shown him to be a mean sob. That says a lot. Cutting your family out of your will and life??? Disgusting. Also one of his daughters is homeless now.
Cutting your children of your inheritance is not necessarily a bad thing.
@@gustory1186 maybe if your kids are vile? But if you’re giving it to his disgusting 2nd family like he did, it’s pathetic. Jerry was never even funny
@@Initium1000 Jerry was never even funny? Fortunately for him enough people disagreed with you to make him a comedy legend.
@@DoctorBrodski Can you tell me what he did that was funny? I'm not trying to be difficult, I really don't know. I've always seen him as embarrassingly awkward. Doing voices and crossed eyes bc he can't think of anything funny to say.
@@fineneighborhood His most popular movies show him at his best. The awkward klutz was his stock character, but The King Of Comedy with Robert DeNiro showed him capable of more serious performing when he felt inclined to go that way.
You should be a parent to "all" your children, not just one before you get reconition from your fame and fortune..
That's a kinda hard to do when you become famous before you have children
He was famous before the kids.
No family is perfect
@Toothless Bull Dog 2.0 Neither do you.
I agree, Rosemarie!
I really don't think the mans legs "failed him"... Why do paparazzi's always make up some kind of bullshit to get more attention? Jerry Lewis is nearly 90 freaking years old, what 90 year old do you know that wouldn't need a little assistance standing after being down on thier knee's?
Some of the "legs failing" here was obviously him fooling around to get a laugh as he has ALWAYS done, and some is simply an 88 year old man legitimately needing a little assistance getting to his feet after being down on his knee's. Hardly a news story. This man has suffered with DEBILITATING back problems for many years, so the fact that he can still walk at all at his age is a miracle in itself. Why take away from the magic of this moment for Jerry Lewis with silly bullshit like this?
Agreed, and even if you were a lot younger, being on your knees for a bit like this can make it a less than fluid rise back to your feet!! Jerry was great and entertaining as ever during the proceedings!!!
I'm only 58 and I'd need help getting up from that position.
If you were 68 you might have known that Jerry Lewis was the greatest dancer ever and probably had the fastest and strongest legs ever.
Jan you're a real kiss ass!
KLUNKET true! Standing up after kneeling is the hardest part. Many younger people would need a hand.
Esse cara era demais vi vários filmes dele 👏👏👏
Grande Jerry Lewis Brasil de adora para sempre.
Un gran comediante. El creador de la teleton. Un orgullo para el cine . Un caballero del humor.
Wow wow wow that's awesome 👍😍😍😍❤️❤️❤️. Hello hello hello 👋😁
When I was a kid in school kids called me Jerry Lewis. I came home from school so happy!
Me: "Mom! Dad! The kids at school called me Jerry Lewis!" I said in an intriguing tone.
Dad: "Do you know why they called you Jerry Lewis?!" Dad said in his usual upset tone.
Me: "Yes! Sir! I look like him!" I said in a slightly down tone.
Dad: "No. You do not look like him. YOU ACT LIKE HIM! YOU ACT LIKE HIM!" Dad said in a upset tone.
Anyway I loved it when they called me Jerry Lewis! Even in my old age I look like him!
This is a man who knew his job and never forgot it. That is the best thing you can say about any man really.....As for his " leg's failing him "..... Jerry Lewis was the strongest most dexterous, physically fit performer that ever made money PERIOD, and he made lots of money because NOBODY ever tried to intimidate him.
MpowerdAPE Jerry WAS physically fit and dexterous when he was a young man, but all those pratfalls took their toll on him as he aged, as can be seen here. And as for nobody ever imitating him - have you never heard of Jim Carey?
I love Jerry Lewis and Dean Martin two guys that were meant to be with each other funny as hell hilarious especially on the Colgate hour all you haters really don't know what you're talkin about Dean Martin one of the all-time greats
My childhood hero :')
Merci Jerry ! De tout ces rires que vous nous avez toujours apporté , vous êtes un grand !! I love you 😘
❤️
Never could put up with his type of humour
Not funny at all, look at Jim Carrey than look at him.
Nothing funny just a mean spirited control freak till the end!
oh bullshit so why are you here.
it was an acquired taste...the joke of Jerry Lewis is that a grown man is acting like a nine year old kid, which is what we would ALL like to DO sometimes, but we feel it would be inappropriate, so we don't do it....Jerry DID do it, and if we understand that was his schtick, then we can begin to understand and appreciate it!
When Jerry Lewis first came to the uk i remember my mum telling me people were having to leave the cinema because he was so funny it's difficult to imagine this nowadays but he was really something else.
It was all but his crazy Act rest in peace Jerry
I loved him so much when I was a child. As I grew older I started to see with head that was getting bigger and bigger. H e could really be hateful at times and it broke my heart. 💔
Well said, and true.
Yeh he was not a nice person in real life ego manic.
Yeah, I'm afraid you are most likely right. When he came to Australia (Perth WA) the very last time a few years ago, my cousin (who like me grew up loving Martin and Lewis) so much he named his first born "Martin Lewis"...anyway. He had the opportunity to see Jerry live and ask a question, so he jumped at the chance. When it came time to ask his question, he told Jerry that he was a huge life long fan and that he actually worked in minor radio broadcasting...before he could actually ask his question, Jerry piped up and said/asked "do you fix em ?" My cousin took it in his stride...but I saw it for what it was, Belittlement at it's finest. NEVER meet your heroes ! I know my cuz will never say it, but that must of hurt. Jerry was an AH to him. Dean on the other hand...was delightful.
@@themessenger5868 yeh Dean Martin was well loved, and it came to the point that Jerry Lewis was going behind his back all the time and everyone on the movie sets where starting to dislike him.
And when he died he left his sons nothing in his will never was not a nice man totally different from the character on screen .

Jerry should have received this honor MANY years ago!! It angers me too, along with quite a few other people here that it took this long to recognize him while others in the "biz" have received honor within just a short few years! We LOVE ❤️ you Jerry!
Wow that daughter of his blew up tremendously in the next few years. Like probably tripled in size...literally.
I love you Jerry Lewis. My Idle
One of a kind..
Thank you very much Mr. Jerry Lewis ❤️
He has always been my favorite comic
Awesome that he left his foot prints and hand print and signature
A world a much better place because of him
He was still funny here!
He should have fallen into the cement and landed on his derriere. That way he could have been remembered for what he truly was. It's sad that he didn't have the capability of treating all his children with love.
Indeed glad he is gone never liked him! He is now in hell!

Real shit who like,s getting old, when you had all those memories and youth.
Long overdue for sure. Get them while they are in their 5th year at least with. That's how long it last now . 70 years and pus should get a medal.
JERRY LEWIS contributed greatly to my extreme ability to find humour in my life & to laugh when times might be a little tough otherwise. He also wrote a book that helped me when I first decided to make Film my major in college : ™The Total Filmmaker ." He is appreciated more in France; because France rewards ART over COMMERCE.

I always thought he could be physically hilarious! But he could be such an S.O.B. in many an interview...IF he would grant one! The smiles and laughter from him were all a "put on"
After all....he was an actor!
Jerry Lewis love is movies
gênio do humor !
I worked backstage with Mr Lewis during the Texas run of his play "Damn Yankees!" Yes, he could be a prick...but he could get away with it because he was a comedy genius. Never be another like him.
I guess he got away with beating his kids and wife too sadly
A “prick” is an understatement he got away with alot more then that
You say it like it’s ok.
Being a “comedy genius”, or any other kind of genius, for that matter, should in no way whatsoever give you licence to treat people like shit.
What a sad society that thinks otherwise.
Mr. Lewis was an Iconic and LEGENDARY Entertainer: A Pioneering Visionary of Stage, Motion Pictures, Television, Radio and an accomplished Director and Composer who refused to cede the spotlight when his age (late 70's) started to work against him. Mr. Lewis was a Pro who did not change with the times (Read: Politically Incorrect" and I appreciated him even more for this LOL). Mr. Lewis also ran circles over performers who were more than half his age and expected their very best. Of course, he was a Pri c k. LOL
Not Jesus or Buddha or Krishna ever raised billions to correct God's mistakes. He earned his attitude.
Precious. Humor til the end.
Un grandisimo artista un genio
I like Jerry Lewis...always have. I have heard some bad things but you hear bad stuff about everyone. The one thing that really is certain is that (love him or hate him) he is a legend and there will never be another JERRY LEWIS. Happy 90th birthday Jerry !!!
You know nothing about him or his private life though.
I disagree. I watched a lot of his movies growing up and he was pretty much locked into one character type, worn into a boring cliche, and later a very rude, inconsiderate man whose entire career would hardly be missed were it never happened. There were many comedic actors from that era.
Heavy Mental He was basically a ‘slapstick’ comedian who rose to fame as one half of a team with Dean Martin in the postwar years. But that kind of comedy became less popular with the public over the following decades and Jerry rather faded away. He did make some quite successful films, but I feel that Dean maintained his popular appeal for a longer time because he diversified more. He had a very popular TV show that lasted for many years, and also proved to be a good dramatic actor in such films as Rio Bravo and The Young Lions. Also, of course, he was an integral part of the famous Rat Pack, who ruled supreme in Vegas in the early 1960s.
Yeah always thought Jerry's telethons were so thoughtful and for one of the best causes. To bad he wasn't the best father, and I found him quite annoying at times.
Es un hombre feliz. Alma feliz que comparte felicidad.
