      Also, Jerry's real-life kids sold exaggerated stories to tabloids about getting whipped as kids. My best friend worked with one of the Cosby sons who told him his brother talked him into doing the book filled with lies for money. Christina Crawford recently admitted the same thing about what she wrongfully did to Joan Crawford. Jerry is Lord. God should take lessons from him about helping humanity. Lewis & Martin were the Beatles of the late 40's early 50's. They were MONSTERS, HUGE and it was because of Jerry Lewis. He
    was a comedic genius of the first order. It wasn't until much later that it came out about his private life. But heck, Bing Crosby was
    an abusive father. Rock Hudson was gay. Robert Mitchum smoked weed etc; they all had a skeleton in the closer and Lewis
    was no different. He was a unique comedian who never failed to deliver on laughs

      Yeah maybe it’s just not my time but everything I’ve seen from him I just don’t find funny I find annoying. And I can’t chalk it up to the time because Abbott and Costello were way before him and I think people like them, the Marx brothers and buster keaton are hilarious, so it isn’t a product of it’s time thing I thought Dean Martin was pretty funny and rickles is obviously hilarious. I think his status as a celebrity overtook what he actually was as a comedian or comedic actor everyone just talks about how classy these guys and this time were, I mean they STILL say that even with everything that came out about him. Even if you’re naive enough to believe all of those women are lying, and all these people he’s worked with are lying fine. You don’t believe his kids?? That he was an abusive father and husband, and took them out of the will because they tried to help and protect their mother that he had been abusing for 30 years? He was a selfish scumbag. Didn’t care about his children, his grandchildren, he only kept his second wife and their adopted kid in the will, and only 2 of 5 of his sons were even allowed to attend the funeral. Idk how anyone can try to defend him as a person you can’t say “oh it’s just the time back then” because he did all this shit with his kids towards the end, that was recently and he even continued sexually harassing women into the 2010s

Jerry’s ‘humour’ always left me cold except when he worked with Dean, and then only because of Dean’s contribution to the act. He should have fallen into the cement and landed on his derriere. That way he could have been remembered for what he truly was. It's sad that he didn't have the capability of treating all his children with love.

    JERRY LEWIS contributed greatly to my extreme ability to find humour in my life & to laugh when times might be a little tough otherwise. He also wrote a book that helped me when I first decided to make Film my major in college : ™The Total Filmmaker ." He is appreciated more in France; because France rewards ART over COMMERCE.

      Being a “comedy genius”, or any other kind of genius, for that matter, should in no way whatsoever give you licence to treat people like shit.
      What a sad society that thinks otherwise.

      Mr. Lewis was an Iconic and LEGENDARY Entertainer: A Pioneering Visionary of Stage, Motion Pictures, Television, Radio and an accomplished Director and Composer who refused to cede the spotlight when his age (late 70's) started to work against him. Mr. Lewis was a Pro who did not change with the times (Read: Politically Incorrect" and I appreciated him even more for this LOL). Mr. Lewis also ran circles over performers who were more than half his age and expected their very best. Of course, he was a Pri c k. LOL

      I disagree. I watched a lot of his movies growing up and he was pretty much locked into one character type, worn into a boring cliche, and later a very rude, inconsiderate man whose entire career would hardly be missed were it never happened. There were many comedic actors from that era.

    • @lindashelley3635
      @lindashelley3635 3 года назад

      Heavy Mental He was basically a ‘slapstick’ comedian who rose to fame as one half of a team with Dean Martin in the postwar years. But that kind of comedy became less popular with the public over the following decades and Jerry rather faded away. He did make some quite successful films, but I feel that Dean maintained his popular appeal for a longer time because he diversified more. He had a very popular TV show that lasted for many years, and also proved to be a good dramatic actor in such films as Rio Bravo and The Young Lions. Also, of course, he was an integral part of the famous Rat Pack, who ruled supreme in Vegas in the early 1960s.
