Bernadette Peters and this song made such a big impression on me when I was a child.I loved this song, that I still remember the lyrics up to now (almost 4 decades after).. and even sing it. I remember her wearing a gown and looking so fierce and beautiful when she sang it on TV.. can't recall what show it was though.. 😀
I have never seen her so animated and "happy" while singing. I have always loved her voice. Perhaps I've seen her sing more Sondheim than anything else; especially Gershwin. I still love this song and everything she sings. She is phenomenal.
I cannot say for sure, but many vocalists (myself included) are definitely happiest singing to an audience, even if that audience is only one or two people.

I always remember this song as a Jolson evergreen from “The Jolson Story”
She is outstanding! What a face!! Beauty! Talent! Poise! Personality! Just perfection! A red-haired goddess!

Bernadette - if you're seeing this - you've made me very happy many times, including seeing this. Thank you.

Thanks are you from cute girls hairstyles :-) 💞💞😱😊😊😊
I don't like her version of the song😔😌😖
Me either! It's too soft! This song should big and bold! Maybe the squirrel voice effects the bold so she just can't XD
