The more I look at jhope’s dance footage, I started to notice he has a solid background in voguing in addition to popping. That makes his movement very powerful and interesting to watch
YEEEP I'm surprised i lived during it during the concert!! I died when they did this!! I can't believe they did it but they did and omg.....I was about dead...
Silver Spoon" (also know as Baepsae or Crow-Tit) was released on November 30, 2015. This is the sixth track featured on the album The Most Beautiful Moment in Life, Part 2 and the eighth track of CD 1 of the album The Most Beautiful Moment in Life: Young Forever. Here is the explanation of this song through some of its lines: THEY CALL ME TRY-HARD The original lyrics is « They call me 뱁새 »..“뱁새” pronounced baepsae, literally means crowtit, is a small bird with short legs. In the context of the lyrics, baepsae is translated as try-hard. There is a Korean saying « 뱁새가 황새 걸음을 걸으면 가랑이가 찢어진다 » « When crow-tit walk like stork, its crotch will tear » Since crowtits have short legs, if it tries to walk like a long-legged stork, it will break its legs and fail miserably. This expression is used to remind people to stay in their lane and not try to go for something that’s out of their reach/capabilities. BTS uses crowtits to symbolize the youth generation of Korea, who don’t have the resources and opportunities afforded to the previous generations, yet are expected to produce the same level of performance and results. In the article BTS' Most Political Lyrics: A Guide to Their Social Commentary on South Korean Society Tamar Herman wrote “By embracing the identity of a crow-tit, BTS take ownership of the underdog nature of their career path, and that of their generational peers trying to achieve success in a world that appears biased against them. ” OUR GENERATION HAS HAD IT HARD HURRY, CHASE ’EM THANKS TO THOSE THAT CAME BEFORE US I'M SPREAD TOO THIN THEY CALL ME TRY-HARD OUR GENERATION HAS HAD IT HARD HURRY, CHASE ’EM People in older generation are often not understanding of the challenges today’s South Korean youths face. They remember their prosperity from 1960-1990s when South Korea experienced phenomenal economic growth due to favorable circumstances. However, after the 1997-1998 Asian Financial Crisis, South Korea saw its economy severely contract and its currency plunge by almost 50%. For this, they turn a blind eye on the underlying factors that caused the economic collapse, but instead blame the situation on the youth saying that they just don’t work as hard as the previous generation. Moreover, the housing bubble placed property prices beyond what young people are able to afford. Coupled with low starting pay and high youth unemployment, it is no wonder that South Korean youths are spread too thin. South Korea has the highest suicide rate among OECD countries, on average 40 people commit suicide every day. South Korea also has a very low birth rate because of factors such as concerns for high costs of housing, long working hours, and high divorce rates. MY TEACHERS WERE BORN WITH IT ALL In the original lyrics, 선생님 also has the meaning of predecessors or those who came before me. Whereas, 금수저 means gold spoon. Thus this line can be translated to mean People in the previous generation were born with a gold spoon. BTS is referring to the golden economic conditions between the 1960s and 1990s that propelled the Four Asian Tigers from developing countries onto the economic world stage. During this period, the Asian countries of South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Singapore underwent rapid industrialization and maintained exceptionally high growth rates of more than 7 percent a year. Hong Kong and Singapore became leading international financial centres, whereas South Korea and Taiwan became leaders in manufacturing electronic components and devices. People born during that generation enjoyed unprecedented opportunities of growth and prosperity. AT A PART-TIME JOB, IT'S "ALL FOR EXPERIENCE" this is actually more accurately translated to “it’s passion pay” which is a common (slang?) term used in korea that describes how companies will pay young employees less than minimum wages in the name of offering desired experience. IN THE MEDIA THEY GO ON ABOUT "THE GENERATION THAT'S GIVEN UP" In the original lyrics, the term 세대 pronounced sedae means generation. Here BTS is playing on a common reference, 3 포 세대 pronounced sanpo sedae, which is used to describe millennials who have given up dating, marriage, and having children due to economic instability. Later on it evolved into 5 포 세대 Opo sedae which added employment and housing due to unaffordable housing costs and high youth unemployment. That turned into 7 포 세대 Chilpo sedae which added interpersonal relationships and hope. In the lyrics BTS used the term 몇 포 세대 N-po sedae, signifying that this generation has given up on everything. RM also referred to sanpo sedae and opo sedae in his lyrics of DOPE. THIS AIN’T NORMAL THIS AIN’T NORMAL This entire song is written in 반말, or informal speech. It’s important to note that Korea is a socially hierarchical nation, and formalities are valued highly in society. It is BTS’s method of breaking free from these tight restrictions of speaking informally instead of always addressing the superiors with a respectful tone. By doing this, BTS are expressing how they have lost respect for some people in the older generations. The line repeats with “this isn’t normal” twice, however, every line ends with 야, which is an informal address to their target audience. It’s like saying, “HEY YOU!” and has a confronting aspect to it. This note WASN’T written by me, but by “wishi,” it can be found in the Hangul version of the lyrics. The word normal could also be translated as top, as to say “we haven’t made it yet”, “we haven’t caught up to the storks yet” AH, TRY HARDER, AH, TRY HARDER “try harder” translates from a phrase often spoken by older adults in Korea to younger people. They’re basically just saying “you need to work harder” as a solution for any problem. For example: kid: “oh I’m having a difficult time finding housing that I can afford because i am underpaid at my internship” adult: “try harder” The interesting part is that that Taehyung drags out the word, saying it in a sarcastic tone that mocks the phrase, and those who use it. I HAVE CROW-TIT LEGS,AND YOU HAVE STORK'S LEGS A crow-tit or 뱁새 (baebsae) is a bird in the paradoxornis or related genera found especially in Korea. This line comes from a Korean saying “뱁새가 황새 걸음을 걸으면 가랑이 가 찢어진다” which translates to, “if a crow-tit walks like a stork, it will break its legs”, meaning if you overdo something or try to imitate someone better than you to make yourself look more/better than you are, you will just bring more hardship upon yourself. I know it's long but the texts and the commitments of BTS are worth the detour and it's through that that we understand the coherence of the choreography... Thank you.
I love the way Tae moves back into place (3:084:385:12) the way he moves backwards through everyone is very satisfying. Oh and JKs move is "running man".
If you watch a video called "What u missed while watching Baepsae". It will show u a lot of things that the guys do that u missed or maybe u were watching whoever was up front. However I don't think I have ever seen someone point out that Jimin almost loses his hat, but somehow stays on his head, the whole time he was dancing...very impressive. It happens during V's second time up front. Watch Jimin and how his hat come lose and than just pops up and comes right back down on his head.
I got to see this song up close and personal at their Wings Concert! Suga was not even 5 feet in front of me and he did the same thing. He pushed his shirt sleeves up and talk about the hip thrusts. I leaned over to my daughter and said, “I think he just broke my hip”. LOL And nothing disrespectful at all! They are so talented! Each one of them. I don’t know how each one of them is so much more “Beautiful” in person! They even sound better! How is this even possible? If you have never gone to one of their concerts, there is NOTHING else in this world that can top them!!! I Love BTS Joyce Stubblefield 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
Oh, and I totally agree with you about the choreo. It is on point & has such a groove that flows with the swag of the music 🎶 so perfectly. And then add in the powerful message of the lyrics, which is hard to believe because you get so caught-up in the groove of the music and dance moves 💜
Like I'm not even kidding... I've seen this dance practice quite a few times... and I never saw V having his "little moment" in the back before lol. Ahhh... BTS is the gift that keeps on giving.
This song, choreography, live performance still do things to ARMYs till date, DT 😂💜. The hip thrusts and all...... Well, glad you watched it. One of my fav ❣️
This is a PROTEST song. You need the lyrics for sure. BAEPSAE is a little bird and the Storks are the big birds telling the little birds how to act. Like the grown ups tell the youngsters how to behave.
I was jaw dropping when i know the meaning behind this song.. BTS is seriously the best! 💯 The choreography relate so muchhhh with what they sing.. BTS n big hit are intelligent.. 🔥👍👏👏
The song baepsae is always included in their concert setlist. Why? Well, for obvious reason - hip thrusts! Everyone in the concerts gets sooooo hyped once they perform baepsae. Hehehe. 💜💜💜
you guys can't tell me you don't hip thrust at least once while listening to this song!! I almost did while walking on the beach tonight when it came on lol
This dance practiced of BTS is soooo funny & fun to watch, watch it so many many times, and still made me laugh my whole heart and made my day all the time :D DT come 'on .. who doesn't want to hang our with BTS, sure - me & army's!
BAEPSAE!!!!!!!!!!One of THE BEST BTS songs 🎵 EVER!!!!!!!!!!!This dance practice is hilarious! The boys are having so much fun and it's a joy to watch, especially Suga losing the bet and having to do an improv dance solo 😁😆😅🤣😂😆😁 Thanks for the reaction 😁💜
I hope you check out more of their "fun" dance practices. They can act as silly as they want but still do the choreo amazingly one. War of hormone and just one day are some Of my top fun dance practices
Baepsae is one of my very favorite song of bts, well of their songs actually 😁😁 But i wish u could react to bts BOYZ WITH FUN japan epilogue i guarantee u will love that live performance u can see how bts use the stage,, bc with that performance u can see them just goofing around 💜💜😁
I love your honest and enthusiastic (and intelligent) reactions, you're one of my fave reactors, sincerely. Also, though, I appreciate that you're open to other groups, so I'd like to recommend Dreamcatcher. Everything about them goes hard, and I genuinely think they'd tick all your boxes.
The part at the end where Suga is twerking is what he had to do for losing rock-paper-scissors. Not necessarily twerking, but he had to do the dance solo at the end. J-Hope was so happy because he did that solo every time they performed the song live.
All choreos my fav but war of hormone (real war version) one of my fav..Nd yes if I listen baepse no one sit everyone dancing...Plz dt parker react more practices u loved that too...💜💜💜💜
Definitely a bop, which is weird because the song is about the extreme wealth gap and the fact that upward mobility is almost non-existent in Korea. The title is based off a Korean proverb about a large bird and a small bird. That is why RM kept doing the little flapping wings gesture. V's verse was saying that people should quit saying to just work harder because it doesn't help. They are already working hard and saying that just makes their feet more tired. Suga was pointing out the differences in their situations because of their circumstances. RM's part leading into the chorus was about how poor people and young people want change, but the people with the money (and therefore the power) want to maintain the status quo.
Baepsae pretty much means “ok boomer” with some context
U right
Lmao i didn’t even think of that but thats so true 😂😂
Trueeeeeee 😂
This is what is called "fun version" if you see any dance practices marked with "흥" then that basically means fun versions....
And that means they're not as strict on the choreo and joke around more, like you see here.
This is calm tho, if would recommend "war of hormones" real war version, as well as "one more day" appeal version, as well as "what you missed in one more day, fun version"
(editing because I keep writing the versions wrong 🙄)
i think you mean "just one day" (appeal ver.) tho?
Spring Day (Lovely version) is another must to watch!!😊💜
Both of those are two of my all-time favorites. I’ll never get tired of them. 😂
YASH! HE SHOULD REACT TO WAR OF HORMON WAR VERS 😭😭😭
Jungkook in that white shirts doing hip thrusts just killed me BYE
For old times all white JK sake. It reminded me of the era when he wore all white most of the time!!
I'm in love with Jungkook with the white shirt, timberland shoes, small waist and hip thrust😍
People were freaking the fuck out about this comment so I’m just gonna change it and let you guess what it was lmao
You have GOT to be kidding me.. LOL
The KING himself🔥
J-Hope's a genius choreographer!😎
Really I didn't know!! How can i be so dumb!!
:o
You missed jungkook being crackhead at 4:37 so funny... This is my fav part 😂😂😂
4:13 OMG JIMIN
jimin the best boy 🥺🥺
Yes absolutely but all best
The more I look at jhope’s dance footage, I started to notice he has a solid background in voguing in addition to popping. That makes his movement very powerful and interesting to watch
DT noticing Taehyung's extra hip thrust when he was at d back was a mood😂😂
He is such wrecker
I love seeing my Yoruba people in comments section 💜💜💜
I'm pretty sure everyone died at J-Hope's dance break in the live version
YEEEP I'm surprised i lived during it during the concert!! I died when they did this!! I can't believe they did it but they did and omg.....I was about dead...
Jk outfit for this is literally the one make me search BTS for the first time years ago
I am always impressed by Suga. He really is a good dancer. Can I say how masculine our Jimin looks.
Why yes you can!!! I love them all...I really really do ...but Suga and Jimin...😏😘

OUR GENERATION HAS HAD IT HARD
HURRY, CHASE ’EM

Totally agree!
@@gakufan wish people would react to that compilation when they react to baepsae
They always play around in their practices.

I LOVE BAEPSAE
I found out the meaning of the choreography and it is amazing, especially where they lift their leg and give the hip thrust. Mmmm
same watching them on bon voyage makes me think that im in vacation to
My reaction while watching this: shook. Periodt.
"roll ur sleeves plAybOy~~"
Suga: * starts twerking *
This is fire 🔥
I live for these "fun version" choreo "practices 🤣 Forever and always asking: GCF please 🥺
I was waiting for thiiiiiisssss ⬆️
That’s my favorite song :)
The part at the end where Suga is twerking is what he had to do for losing rock-paper-scissors. Not necessarily twerking, but he had to do the dance solo at the end. J-Hope was so happy because he did that solo every time they performed the song live.
I Love BTS Silver Spoon ❤

Awww you didnt got the eng sub version but I laugh every time at the start when the "dance line" got out on the first round lol
I love your reaction🙃
i think we all want to hangout with them😭😂😂
Ahh you should definitely react to "Things you didn't notice in Baepsae dance practice"! The one by springcherryjin is hilarious.
RM's part leading into the chorus was about how poor people and young people want change, but the people with the money (and therefore the power) want to maintain the status quo.
definitely check out the things you didnt notice in bapsae dance practice plssss
I relate to DT 🙊💜
