    Lee Hyun is their senior and they all know him pretty well. Especially Jimin and Jin are very good friends with him. This was like a collab video as he does many vlogs, reactions, and covers on his YT channel- 'Hyunni Combo TV.'
    Edit: this is from one of the shows/interviews he did and I always found it hilarious. The host asked abt BTS and his relationship with them and this is what he had to say;
    Lee Hyun: I get along with them just as friends would do. Jin, when he comes to me, takes away my phone, takes a selfie, and says, "Look at my face when you need to cheer up~"

    When you add -shi after a name. It's basically calling someone MR. / addressing them with respect.
    So he's calling them Mr. Seokjin instead of just Seokjin casually. (Since he is a manager & has to address them formally)
    In real life where he isn't the manager but actually their senior. He addresses them casually without adding -shi. Since he is older by age as well as by career

    Lee Hyun is one of the three artists under BigHit (along with BTS and TXT). And he's been with bts for a LONG time so their bond is so amazing and beautiful he's a very funny man with a beautiful voice. I love seeing him and BTS interact a lot. And he's older than all the members, so he's their very close hyung.

    here’s a rundown of some honorifics you might hear.
    hyung - younger male to older male
    oppa - younger female to older male
    noona - younger male to older female
    unni - younger female to older female
    CORRECTION (thank you!!):
    if you see or hear the suffix “-nim,” it’s like addressing someone superior to you, with their title or name. so like, PD-nim or CEO-nim.
    if you hear/see “-ssi,” it’s a polite way of calling someone by their name, as if adding mr./mrs./ms. to it. so if a receptionist were to call you at the doctor’s office, they’d say jungkook-ssi, for example.
    there’s honestly a lot more, and they can even be combined, like “hyung-nim,” but those are some of the basics that i know.
    if anyone would like to add on or correct, please do!!

    OHMYGOSH I clicked so fast. I think I told you about these guys a long time ago. Yehey you're finally watching it! Even if it's not because of me, kudos to my fellow ARMYs for pushing the videos to them! And the ones who voted!!
    21:17 this is actually one of my jobs 😅 but for my mentor and sometimes actors. I have to get my cardio in to do my job LOL
    26:40 They add "-ssi" at the end of their names to address them politely/respectfully. It''s basically saying "Mr./Ms."
    Since Lee Hyun was one of the first artists of Big Hit, of course, he saw BTS being formed and became their ever-supporting sunbae (senior) 🥰 Like he's been part of Big Hit since 2005 👀👀

    So this was part of a series on Lee Hyun's channel. He was basically the only solo, non-kpop artist, in Hybe at the time. Plus he's so much older than other artists. I think he's roughly 8 years older than Jin. All the other idols are younger than BTS. So this series was a good way to get him and the other artists closer to each other, and introduce him to younger fandoms. His own team came up with the idea that he should work for each group for a day or so. For one group he was on the content team (photos for and captions for their blog) as an example. BTS was basically the culmination because they already know each other well and they are busier. It was also cool to get a glimpse behind the scenes to see how the staff work for each group.
    Also, FYI, Lee Hyun is a ballad singer known for his great vocals. That's why they kept jokingly asking for singing tips or trying to trick him into singing. Also, if you guys are interested, the interviews and live performances shown here are up in full on youtube as well.

    Yes, Lee Hyun is a sunbae to all the artists at Big Hit. He debuted before BTS and TXT so he’s an older artist and that’s what a younger artist calls an artist that debuted before them or a more experience artist that debuted before them. That’s true in the all lines of work not just idols. There are K-pop groups that debuted after BTS that call the BTS members sunbae it’s a term of respect if you break down what t means or read the K-pop dictionary as an example in other fields.
    A teacher that has more experience than a new teacher is also usually called a sunbae.

The guys themselves didn't know until they were told what he would be doing. He has to record them behind the camera to send the pics and videos for feedback on the performance/outfits if I remember correctly lol. The bottles have to be in order of their age (ofc you have seen lol), so he knows which one to give to them. The script is really the guys schedule for the day. Jimin is like that with people he knows so he's looking at Lee hyun as big brother even tho bts in general are close friends with their staff. V can't spill water on himself yall 😂. Something unique and special about Lee Hyun: in 2023, he released a song under the artist name Midnatt in six languages: Korean, English, Spanish, Japanese, Chinese, and Vietnamese. It's called "Masquerade," and you can find it on RUclips and listen to it in all six languages by setting the audio language.
    HYBE pulled this off by using technology developed by a company called Supertone, which they acquired in 2022. Lee Hyun recorded "Masquerade" in all six languages, and Supertone's AI was used to adjust his pronunciation so that Midnatt sounds like a native speaker in every language. Thus the song is more accessible to speakers of all six of those languages - which is billions of people - but still incorporates Lee Hyun's artistic choices as a singer, because it was translated and produced with his participation and approval.
    This is a unique and different use of AI: rather than AI replacing the artist, it's used to expand an artist's reach while preserving their identity.
    The technology is very new and not yet widely accepted in the industry, but it's possible that someday BTS will release songs in a dozen different languages and sound flawlessly native, but still feel and sound like BTS.
    It's investment and exploration like this for which Bang Si Hyuk has earned a reputation for visionary and forward thinking.

    Its basically just a formal way of addressing their name especially since he's acting like he doesn't know them beforehand lmaoooo

    The "-ssi" at the end of their name is like a formal way to call someone regardless of their age in Korea. So, Lee hyun called them as "Jimin-ssi", "Seokjin-ssi" etc because he was their manager for the day so he has to address them respectfully. And you guys already know that they've known each other for 10 years. So, that was just them joking around teasing Lee hyun (because they usually called him "hyung"). Additional information, another way to address someone in a formal way is by adding "-nim" at the end of their name. For example like, "Seokjin-nim", "Jungkook-nim" etc. Also, for the female version you guys talked about, it's just like this:
    Hyung - a term to call an older man uses by a man
    Noona - a term to call an older woman uses by a man
    Unnie - a term to call an older woman uses by a woman
    oppa - a term to call an older man uses by a woman
    And, these are only used when they're closed enough, meaning that you can't randomly call a stranger by these term. Hope this helps!

    For your question about the “shii & ah” terms i saw an army explain it in the comments but when it comes to referring to someone…
    Hyung = an younger male saying it to an older male
    Unnie = an younger female saying it to an older female
    Oppa = a female saying it to a male (a bf or big brother)
    Noona = a male saying it to an older female (big sister mostly)

    This is abit random, because it isnt "BTS content".. but Lee Hyun was so funny & a standout for me during the HYBE family picnic (Game Caterers) 😂
    I hope y'all will watch it sometime just for fun.. 🤗 I thought it showed different talents & personalities of idols/idol groups that make up the company.. they all obvs have huge respect for BTS & look up to them tremendously. There are some characters of note, TXT- who are the only other boy group represented by BigHit after BTS.. SVT- another mostly self produced boy group (also, one of the members is Jungkook's best friend!)

    i think the word daniel was looking for was honorifics? here are brief explanations of what they mean:
    1) hyung (형, pronounced hyeong) = used by a male referring to another male older than him
    2) oppa (오빠, pronounced op-pa) = used by a female referring to a male older than her
    3) noona (누나, pronounced noo-na) = used by a male referring to a female older than him
    4) eonni/unnie (언니, pronounced on-nee) = used by a female referring to another female older than her
    5) -ssi (씨) = usually translated as Mr./Ms. and as far as i know has more to do with respect and less with age (we can hear lee hyun call the members "first name"-ssi, even jungkook)
    side note: "eo" in korean is 1 syllable and is pronounced close to "aw". so eonni would be on-nee, seokjin would be sawk-jin not see-ok-jin, hoseok would be ho-sawk not ho-see-ok, etc :)
    also, i don't have an exact timestamp but we do actually hear some members call him hyung (they say hyunie hyung, just adding -ie similar to when they'd say jungkookie or jiminie)
    every time i watch these videos my cheeks hurt from smiling so bad like obviously i KNOW bts are real people but seeing them not in a performance setting makes me lightheaded like omg they're real people 😭

    So the makeup that the artist put under Jk's eye is called "Aegyo Sal Makeup"(which literally translates to cute fat) it is done to make your under eye look puffy and cute and soft like marshmallow. It's done with a little darker shade than your skin tone to give a lil contouring effect. Many female/male idols do that which males them look a bit young and lively-er? YEAH☺

    Lee Hyun is actually HYBE(formerly Big Hit Ent.) first trainee. He debuted in 2007 as the main vocalist in the trio group 8Eight. Which was HYBEs first idol group. The group parted ways as two member's contracts were up. Hyun resigned but as a soloist. He wanted to be there in 2013 when they debuted but at that time he had just enlisted so he wasn't able to be there for him.
    Like others have said he is the closest to Jin and Jimin but he's honestly close to all of them and they treat him like a big brother.
    Lee Hyun even did a cover of BTS's spring day which even the members really liked. His version was more of a ballad as that is one of Hyun's specialties. His voice is perfect for ballads.
    He's done dance challenges with BTS members, he even learned the dance to PTD. He has that on his channel too. He also did this management gig for TXT and ENHYPEN.

    • @ruthfischer7615
      @ruthfischer7615 8 месяцев назад

      Actually no.
      Lee Hyun was signed by both Big Hit and Source Music. When the contacts ran out he was the only one who decided to sign a new contract with Big Hit only.
      (HYBE didn't exist back than)
      8eight was a co-oed vocal group but not an Idol group.
      Big Hit also did work for a few other artists under a double contract but BTS were their first true trained artists. None of the others - with the exception of Lee Hyun decided to renew with BH.

    • @ARMYnotArmy
      @ARMYnotArmy 8 месяцев назад

      @@ruthfischer7615 HYBE was BigHit Entertainment. Different name, same company. It's okay to be confused, some people didn't watch Si-Hyuk's public seminars or the Re-branding stream that they did where they explained how it all worked.
      You should watch Lee Hyun's old interviews and things with 8Eight. He was indeed HYBE's first trainee and he became part of a co-ed trio. Source Music was a little involved since Johee was a trainee at Source and Si-Hyuk and the founder of Source are really close friends.
      Source lent HYBE(known as BigHit Ent. back then) their dance rooms on certain occasions. Lee Hyun was always with HYBE though. And when the company rebranded to hybe he and BTS had new contracts that put them in not just the same company but now the same Label- Most Korean Entertainment companies don't separate label from company. There are some exceptions of course and Bang Si-Hyuk knew doing it this way would be a great way to ensure the artists are not just taken care of, but protected from 3rd parties who might try to dupe them.
      BTS is HYBE's first all male group, yes. 2am was a partnership and some count 2am but HYBE didn't have full handling of 2am.
      Mostly just musically they handled 2am. JYPE did most everything else. Oh, and HYBE had practice space for them. But when they needed to be 'One Day' with 2pm JYPE is the one who provided the dancing space.
      It can get very confusing but if you watch old interviews of these groups and Si-Hyuk's seminars you really get everything laid out. There should be subtitles if you need them. Not sure how good they are.

      It is not quiet the same:
      Big Hit Entertainment broke off into HYBE *AND* Big Hit Music (which is under HYBE Labels).
      Because HYBE does make the distinction.
      Did Big Hit actually train Lee Hyun?
      I was under the impression that BTS were pretty much their first trainees because that was emphesized a lot. But that could be wrong.
      I don't think 8eight was an Idol group so it may have been a bit different.

    • @ARMYnotArmy
      @ARMYnotArmy 8 месяцев назад

      @@ruthfischer7615 I really want to encourage you to watch Bang's seminars and the HYBE rebranding video. BigHit Ent. didn't "Break off" it was re-named and the label- Big Hit Music was formed because Bang knew the best way to ensure his artists keep what's theirs.
      He knew HYBE wouldn't deliberately try to do anything, but third parties might try something and instead of HYBE being responsible, it's BigHit Music who remains a private company that while is under HYBE, it isn't owned by HYBE. If you look at the share holders for Big Hit Music- It's Bang PD with the most, HYBE does own some but not enough to have what's called 'creative control'
      Now, creative control is what HYBE has over all other labels within... and I don't know if you know but currently one of those label's heads has breached HYBE contract so she might not be the head of 'her' label in the future. But that's for courts to decide.
      Anyway, back to 8Eight- 8Eight was very much an idol group. Granted they didn't have a trainee system in place. Bang Si-Hyuk wanted to do away with the systematic way that he'd known. Remember, he worked under JYP in JYPE before he decided he wanted to change things. All the the things he learned from the industry, all the things he wanted to improve and stuff he wanted to change.
      Starting with 8Eight training was different. They still received vocal and dance training as well as the usual on camera prep work and acting and even production and writing as all three co-wrote, though not all three had their lyrics chosen, kind of how BTS is known to do where they all write- differences are with more members you can have more variety in writing, more expression as well. Plus two of the members were already writing way before being signed on as trainees.
      For 8Eight though, yes, their training was different and so if only count those who went through the exact system of idols to be... well.. idols... then sure, for you and those people 8Eight were not idols.
      However to Korea, they were idols(It doesn't matter what each individual personally feels or thinks. To Korean public- they were idols. Lee Hyun is still considered an Idol). They performed on Idol shows, they did everything Idols do. And they did well, obviously not crazy popular, but well known enough in Korea at least.
      Enough that back then they had the ability to take on more trainees and were planning to release a girl group and a boy group for the first time in the company.
      I get you might not have known this. Unless you were around or know people who were around and into idol music back then.. you wouldn't know these things.
      Also if you didn't see Bang's seminars and the HYBE rebranding live stream they did.
      So it's understandable you didn't know.

    • @ARMYnotArmy
      @ARMYnotArmy 8 месяцев назад

      Yeah, you really should go watch the rebranding stream. There was no "breaking off" as you said. BigHit Ent. rebranded- hence why it was called the rebranding live stream. Thus it is now HYBE. Big Hit MUSIC which is the label created for Lee Hyun, BTS and TXT so they have a space separate from the company due to how involved they are with their music. Bang Didn't want others to be able to sway or dictate how these artists write or what they write about. There's a list of other reasons to make BigHit Music separate as well.
      However, BigHit Music is not BigHit Entertainment. HYBE is. Bang is still the founder and still heavily involved. He just wanted to be more involved in the creative aspect as to the CEO- running of the company portion.
