this song has a deeper meaning than what the lyrics might imply. its less about “flexing their money” and more about how the younger generation tends to try and avoid problems by phrases such as “yolo.” thank you for the reactions !!
The lyrics by the last part of the video were wrong. They were actually saying "Go, instead of worrying". The song is about people who run around mindlessly while wasting money in order to resolve their own internal conflicts.
As usual, BTS songs have a deeper meaning...it's supposed to represent how youth don't make enough to live on (dis to adults and economic system), so they may as well spend it instead of save it because they'd never make enough to buy what they need anyway (dis on the youth)

esp when u realise V looked down/upset bc he lost a childhood friend to suicide around that time. thats why he didnt seem that into the game at the beginning. he seemed to have cheered up a little towards the end of the dance practice though, seeing how he joked around in his snow white costume. knowing this just makes this dance practice all the more special

Go Go from the Love Yourself: Her-album. This cheerful sounding song may expect that there’s a positive message about a luxurious lifestyle behind it. But if you listen to the lyrics attentively it appears an extravagant lifestyle is spoken about indeed, but not in a positive way!.
Go Go is a parody in which the boys criticize the squandering of money on parties and lavish luxury.
Yoongi also said that the lyrics are suppose to raise awareness on how this generation is following the rule of Yolo without second thoughts and spending all their money on useless things instead of appreciating life.
“The current generation uses phrases like YOLO (You only live once)and having fun squandering money, but I don’t think people think about why they use such terms so much even while using the terms. It isn’t a BTS album if there isn’t a track criticizing society”.
Tae is that member that is always confident and is never afraid to try out and do things that may seem imperfect.I have seen him make funny faces to try and make himself less beautiful( which is impossible) but it doesnt stop us from loving him.Infact i love him more for it😘😘
The lyric translations are wrong lol Go go is a commentary on the overspending mindset of some youths (in my opinion its not really a criticism or support of this, just bringing attention. Alot of people think it is a criticism)
And tae wasn't in the best mood probably bc we got news that one of his friends passed around this time (ofc we don't know for sure how he felt)

The dance is made up of viral dances so the performance as a whole gives me a feeling like this is a magnification of the younger generation - like either from the boomers perspective that the youngest would only think like this, or just plain snarking at people who do only think like this. I could never decide which.
They did a performance of this song at one of the year end gigs and tried to hide hearts all over themselves to reveal during the dance. That one is pretty fun.

I think, another meaning to this song is that, bts is calling out those that have "YOLO" mindset and live recklessly like overspending money or things like that

wait wait noo no this song is deeper than you think. it is about how the boomers or the older generations think about the younger generations and only think that we are into spending our money extravagantly. but in reality, we are facing economic hardships and this is like a sarcastic response to the older generations, saying "yes we do spend a lot of money. you know like YOLO right? we don't care and only like to party" when we are facing as much of a an economic hardship and YOLO is literally not even included in our vocabulary.
This song actually has a sarcastic tone to it. People who spend money lavishly without considering the fact that there are people who don't have it much and have to spend it very cautiously. And it also has a meaning of saying, you can spend a little for yourself too, because you earned it
At this point...they didn't really have it (money) yet. They were just off their first big award show win (after almost 3 years of being a group/after debut). They weren't widely loved in Korea for several years.

I see a lot of comments saying that the song is actually making fun of the "yolo" mentality of younger generations. I think is a commentary not a mockery. if you refer back to Bapsae, the newer generations after the boomers are affected by the society their parents and grandparents left behind. They complain about their inability to do and catch up. They have given up on things that others consider normal, buying a house, dating, having a family because they can't afford it. I think this song represents the mentality of YOLO anyway. No matter how hard I try I am not going to buy a house or get a car so might as well spend the money and have fun and go party, buy the shots, travel and rack up debt. I don't think is mocking irresponsible materialism (like Spine Breaker) to me it's more of a shinning a light in the mentality and the desperate need for instant gratification because the game is rigged and they won't make it anyway so might as well have fun while they are here.

Basically, this song has a double meaning.
The younger generation, who have difficulty finding a stable job,
struggling with economic difficulties and their lives on small salaries, calls for YOLO on their want own. This was also a popular trend for the younger generation in Korea(2017).
Frustrated with the reality that no amount of small salaries saves can eventually become a acceptable asset in the future , they act in the hope that they would rather be happy right now instead of endure now for the future. but It refers to the reality of spending money on lipstick or dining meals and calling it luxury. not fancy cars, designer goods or jewelry.
And it contains sarcastic remarks about the reality in which they are forced to pursue YOLO like that.
The lyrics repeatedly include "Yolo" and "Tangjinjam," which is also a self-help word for the younger generation. "Tangjinjjam" means "small indulgence is fun" because in fact they don't even have enough money or time to actually waste.
At the same time, they are telling the younger generation not to be frustrated by the painful reality but to enjoy it. BTS encourages them to put their lives at the top of the list, saying, "We're quite young to worry about," and "Just do GO rather than worry about it today."
Sugar said, "If a song that throws a social message is missing, it is not BTS' album," adding, "These days, generations use a lot of the words 'Yolo' or 'Tangjinjam,' but I don't think they even think about why the younger generation uses such words." We interpreted it as our own view," he said, explaining the background of the birth of GO over worry.

This song may sound fun and have an upbeat sound, but like many of their other more 'upbeat fun' songs like Baepsae, in actuality it's a quite sad statement to the political and societal problems that South Korea is facing, as well as many other countries!! Where no matter how hard you work even if it's 24/7 it's never enough to live off of. So you might as well live the YOLO life and just go out spend what little money one has, because it's not enough to invest or save anyway!! In other words, many have pretty much given up on any hope & dreams!! There is a BTS GoGo Explained that you might want to see to u dress and this songs full meaning.

this song is satirical. it’s critiquing the younger generation spending their money like there’s no tomorrow even though there’s no job security, but there’s really nothing else they can do in the current culture and climate. it’s expensive to be broke, basically. also spending money to feel better even if you’re broke. they’re not bragging. the yolo yolo yolo is satirical.
Actually v lost his friend (in some accident maybe) recently (during the time of this video) so he was sad and the members kinda planned this goofy dance to cheer him up a little bit(uh that’s what i came to know maybe I’m wrong ...but I don’t think so).....and they did the rock,paper,scissors game to decide which member would play snow white.......also v has such a sporting spirit and he would never lose his smile on losing a game or so ....it has to be some genuine reason for our cheerful,happy v to become quite and sad......

I think this song is a diss to the YOLO crowd. Who are lazy, spend money etc. Lol
To get their "non-music video" RUclips videos with subs, the channel "bangtansubs" does subtitled versions of them when they don't have it on "bangtantv".
Bangtantv did start doing subtitles for their "bangtan bombs" that started like a month ago. That means that bangtantv has most of the MV's and their most recent bangtan bombs that have translations available on their channel.
I see some people saying this song is criticizing how people waste their money but it goes deeper than that. It's actually a criticism towards how society has been twisted to such a measure that it basically created this yolo culture in the first place (or at least, played a major part into it).
The song ties in more with the message of BTS's *Baepsae/Silver Spoon* in that those who aren't part of the privileged class (particularly millenials) are currently facing economic factors and finding it nearly impossible to find a stable way to meet a basic standard of living.
It's causing a lot of people to give up on being able to retire or to save up enough to afford better living conditions anytime soon, so many are instead using any small extra they earn to find small pieces of happiness, just to help them keep going (yolo culture).
This is also a song to criticize how no one has the right to call out how anyone chooses to use what they earn from their own work, especially the older generation who played a big part in creating this economic crisis.
But it is also a song of encouragement to tell us not to give up on hoping for a better future and we should still strive for ourselves instead of giving up.

Hey DT, I think this is more of a sarcastic calling out to the people who don’t know how to live wisely within their means and not about them flexing about their spending abilities because they are definitely not how it is described in the song 😜
