First thing I thought of when I started down the REN path was that he is the epitome of the Bard of old times. He is a true story teller. I never really listened to hip-hop/rap before Ren. One of the things I have enjoyed the most both about listening to his music AND watching reaction videos who break down his lyrics is that it has exposed me to so many other artists that I might have never checked out otherwise. Specifically some of the Hip-Hop/Rap artists that he has given nods to - that I missed as references until reactors called them out. But also, some amazing artists in genres I do enjoy like Barrington Levy in "Murderer" ... and Manu Chau in one of the Big Push covers ... I do enjoy watching others go through the discovery process and vicariously re-experiencing falling in love with Ren from the beginning, but also I've learned so much from fans of music that I missed out on the first time around. Thanks for adding in your own unique insights. Agree with other comments, you are fast becoming a new favorite reactor.

Just like punk grew up out of lower working class kids in the cities, rap is the equivalent that came out of black and POC neighborhoods. One of the first punk bands is Bad Brains which is a black group. There's a lot of crossover in the early years of these two musical genres since they both grew up out of discontent with the status quo, racism, and poverty. I never really listened to hip-hop/rap before Ren. One of the things I have enjoyed the most both about listening to his music AND watching reaction videos who break down his lyrics is that it has exposed me to so many other artists that I might have never checked out otherwise. Specifically some of the Hip-Hop/Rap artists that he has given nods to - that I missed as references until reactors called them out. But also, some amazing artists in genres I do enjoy like Barrington Levy in "Murderer" ... and Manu Chau in one of the Big Push covers ...
I do enjoy watching others go through the discovery process and vicariously re-experiencing falling in love with Ren from the beginning, but also I've learned so much from fans of music that I missed out on the first time around. Thanks for adding in your own unique insights. Agree with other comments, you are fast becoming a new favorite reactor.

Just like punk grew up out of lower working class kids in the cities, rap is the equivalent that came out of black and POC neighborhoods. One of the first punk bands is Bad Brains which is a black group. There's a lot of crossover in the early years of these two musical genres since they both grew up out of discontent with the status quo, racism, and poverty. Haven't seen someone have so much fun with this song. Oh my, you're going to love the rest of Ren :) Subbed :) Ren spent a few years stuck in his bed and he wanted to learn to rap so he listened to a couple of generations worth of rap. He does tend to swing heavily into Jamaican flows when he busks and sings with his band.
