These magnificent Sunday restaurations is rapidly becoming my favorite time of the week. Amazing job bringing back yet another wonderful toy of my childhood. Can you imagine what a thrill it was just walking in a toy store, and seeing this on the shelves?
Masterful! A splendiferous restoration. Restoration is a must he takes a thing of rust brings it up shining again ans sometime, it appears, does cause him some pain he never gives up working with finger sore and if he is not more careful he won't do it no more. You have 10 digits is true what you do with them is up to you but cutting them off one by one is a lot more pain than fun.
Chip, your channel is much more than the restoration of time-pieces. It is a microcosm of American manufacturing and ingenuity. These were heirloom pieces and not just toys. Your work belongs in the Smithsonian Museum or as a traveling museum exhibit. Your craft as are your restorations -timeless!!
Had to watch this one as my brother had the identical truck when we were kids! So glad you went with the blue. We (cousins, brother, self) usually abused our Dinky and Corgi vehicles in the dirt of the farm each summer, and the Tonkas and Buddy Ls were much more practical; we just didn't have enough of them! Brings back memories from a lo-o-ong time ago!
Nice to see the cat being rewarded for doing her final inspection and supervisory duties. She definitely gave this one the paw of approval. The colour was just perfect and it turned out amazing. Great video yet again.
I enjoy the opening with the junkyard sand stacks of old tires. I think once there was a shot of shelves with the vehicles you’ve save and would like to see that again. And oh bye the way, I have the strange feeling that I’m being watch whenever I look at the junkyard, tiny eyes…
Oh, this restoration was a beauty! Now, I was waiting for the horses. And there they were. Of course, the sheep had to watch over everything, and the cat wanted to know where the cat hauler was. Super job and very clever. Happy New Year to you and all!
I have been watching a bunch of you're videos, And you are just AMAZING! what you do!!! I am 62 years old and remember most of the Tonka and Buddy L you restore, So many memories of toys from my past!!
There are many "restoration" channels out there for models; however, I'm finding this one to be an authentic task being accomplished. The others seem to have a lot of this weird yellow stuff on them. This channel inspires me!
This example is in turquoise...but it also came in sky blue, dark red, and tan brown. In the 1964 Buddy L catalog the retail price was U.S. $5.33, which included the truck, two adult horses, two baby horses, and a plastic corral fence.
Every resto job is a journey with you and I love taking the journey. It is an essential part of my Sunday morning. By the way, I loved that you added the horses at the end. You are the master of the subtle touch. Well done Chip, well done.
I LOVE watching you restore. It's amazing the amount of detail that went into making these toy trucks/cars. You show this, by your step by step removal and restoring. I only ever hope, that one day, I too, may be able to have the knowledge to work these machines, and tools, to do this. It has always been a dream of mine. Look forward to ALL your next work. Thank you so much for the entertainment, understanding, and fun in allowing me/us to watch your talent. All the best. 😘😘😘
most exciting part of this video was the bandaid costume changes. first i was like, ooh he's a pixar guy. then! the frozen plot twist added disney into the mix! but the fourth quarter addition of a - dare i say, dark horse? - candidate from the lol surprise camp was a shocking finale! 5 stars, two thumbs up.
I remember when I was very young I always loved to go visit my mother's brother's house in Ohio. He had an attic full of toys just like these. Heavy duty metal cars, trucks, tractors, and trailers that his kids, 20 years my senior, used to play with in the 40s and 50s. Your videos bring back such fond memories of those days. Awesome restoration! Thanks.
Beautiful job!!! It’s a shame the current generation of kids have NO idea what playing with toys like this was like. They have NO creativity, unless it’s on a cellphone, or game console. So glad I grew up in the late sixties, and seventies!!!
It must have been an endlessly enjoyable job back in the day to decide which vehicle would be manufactured next. Men that get to keep a boys obsession for a job.
NOOO! Stitches on those beautiful hands!!! Be careful. Those hands fascinate me. Love your channel. You don’t just reach into the junk yard and pick a vehicle. No, the wrecker has to go pick it up and drag it to the shop. And you didn’t just place the horses in the truck. No! You walked them up the ramp!!😂. This is why I love you!!! (And the beautiful hands!) 😉
I think you changed its color, but I'm not complaining, it looks awesome. I love watching these restorations, it's the next thing to being able to do one myself and I miss being able to.
He did, that specific toy was originally a maroon color. That said, the Carolina blue he painted is also incredibly close to another original color option for that model. It's still a mostly historically accurate restoration.
I just happen to see you’re show I think its neat what you do some of them cars and truck are pretty sad shape but you bring them back to life great job I will keep watching the way you film you get to see everything that neat keep up the good work happy new year
@@Tim-57 Nah. I'm always that way when someone can't write a comprehensible sentence. I have a cousin like that; her crazy mom took her out of school to teach her at home. That lasted a few weeks, and my cousin can't write a letter at age 60. It's not fair to her or to Carolyn - whatever her story is.
Sandblasting. Relaxing. I know we don't always see the whole thing, and it's all done to satisfaction, but the tinny leftover spots of paint drives me nuts! 😧 😉
I think you're one of the best Tonka/BuddyL/Nylint restorers on RUclips. You and Rescue & Restore. I like how you use the primer powder coat properly and wet sand each part before color coating. The powder coat bakes on so evenly. Like better than new! When I saw the truck before you sand blasted, I couldn't even tell what color it was originally. Underneath all that surface rust, I thought the truck was a dark red. ADDED: Went on Google and searched this certain truck, and it was a dark red originally. Wonder what made you decide to use a light blue? Just curious.
Haha! Love your amazing restoration for Tonka! LoL you put sheep guard on horses in the end! You makes me laugh when I see that sheep guard! Amazing transformation Tonka you put your best effort!
Amazing, I would never have believed that such a rusty wreck-toy someone can make such a wonderful truck! You are really extremely skilled! I feel like a little boy again, even though I'm 43 years old, thank so much 😁 Greetings from Prague 🇨🇿🇪🇺
I think the sand blasting is the most satisfying part of this next to the rebuild. All the details come back to life during this part.
Agreed
The most important is the final quality control.🐱🐱
Just unbelievable!!! Is it just me, or would anyone else like to get started on projects like this? What a blast! Literally....
My 4 year old son is hooked on your channel. To quote him exactly - "I could watch this for 100 years!"
Is so clever
If you are not the best in the restoration field, then you are mighty close!
Well done sir, we'll done!!!
Tis just a flesh wound!
I’ll just have to do a little restoration work on it

Just love it. Can't get enough.
Can't help it, the sheep still crack me up.
Same here! But alas, poor Duodecimus (the twelfth sheep) has gone missing - and has been missing so long I fear he may be in the lamb chop box... 8O
I absolutely adore the sheep
That little cowboy hat was it for me 😂🤣😂
up.
I'm really happy to see you test for lead, I see a lot of people fix up old car's and truck that don't test
I thank you for that

I noticed how the horses hopped into the truck, and the sheep with the cowboy hat. You're a character.
I love your little sheep! Great job. Restoring the truck, you surprised me when you painted the truck blue ❤️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Why did he painted the toy horse truck blue it looked more brown than blue
Oh, this restoration was a beauty! Now, I was waiting for the horses. And there they were.

OMG!! Love it!! Can we please start making children’s toys like this again! 💁🏼♀️
Unfortunately, Everything is made in China because of cheaper labor.

I love watching your restorations. Its nice to see that you keep as true to the original colors as possible
Love the junk yard and the guard sheep and your awsome talent thanks for sharing your awsome talent

Dear once again Excellent... impressive that the animal cargo trucks continue with the same layout.
Wow that really turned out great!!! It makes me happy to watch something that was dirty, old, and rusted out get a beautiful new lease on life.
That little tow truck cracks me up hauling the old trucks off 🤣
I enjoy restoration videos ❤
nice restore like the color. All ready to go riding fun .Cute horses giddy up !
Beautiful restoration.
These vids are INCREDIBLY soothing and peaceful. The sheep cause me to grin!

A very awesome looking horse truck now a very good job done there.
He dib a good work. Nice looking truck. Those are the toys I would have been playing with, those and army men. I was born in1958.

This one is by far my favorite
My kids ( 2&5) love watching you! They love looking for the sheep 😁
Sometimes I think you do such a good job that the vehicle looks better than it did new and this is one of those times.
One of the BEST restores you have done.. Amazing.. and with only 9 fingers too!!!!
