1960s Buddy L Horse Riding Academy Truck Restoration
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 26 дек 2020
- I purchased this 1960s Buddy L Horse Riding Academy Truck October of 2020 on eBay. It was missing quite a few pieces and in pretty rough shape. Overall it was a perfect candidate to restore. After sandblasting I found that the body was in really great shape with very minor pitting. A good coat of filler primer took care of the pits. The rear ramp was missing, the horse divider, the horses and the plastic top for the horse pen. I was pretty happy with how the vacuum formed part came out being only my second attempt at making a usable part. I'm definitely still learning and finding that its a little more of an art than a science. Overall I was very happy with how this truck came out. Thank you for watching!

I love your little sheep! Great job. Restoring the truck, you surprised me when you painted the truck blue ❤️♥️♥️♥️♥️
I think the sand blasting is the most satisfying part of this next to the rebuild. All the details come back to life during this part.
Agreed
Just unbelievable!!! Is it just me, or would anyone else like to get started on projects like this? What a blast! Literally....
These magnificent Sunday restaurations is rapidly becoming my favorite time of the week. Amazing job bringing back yet another wonderful toy of my childhood. Can you imagine what a thrill it was just walking in a toy store, and seeing this on the shelves?
If you are not the best in the restoration field, then you are mighty close!
Well done sir, we'll done!!!
First thought, why is this in my rec'd.
Then, I saw the tow truck come in to help out. I was hooked.😊🇨🇦❤️
Hi chip channel beautiful restoration good job well done
The most important is the final quality control.🐱🐱
My 4 year old son is hooked on your channel. To quote him exactly - "I could watch this for 100 years!"
Is so clever
I enjoy the opening with the junkyard sand stacks of old tires. I think once there was a shot of shelves with the vehicles you’ve save and would like to see that again. And oh bye the way, I have the strange feeling that I’m being watch whenever I look at the junkyard, tiny eyes…
I'm really happy to see you test for lead, I see a lot of people fix up old car's and truck that don't test
I thank you for that
You really should do the garbage/sanitation truck 🚒 next...
Easy with that cutter, Chip....Love the one-eyed Sheep, I always "keep an eye out" for that one.
Masterful! A splendiferous restoration.
Restoration is a must
he takes a thing of rust
brings it up shining again
ans sometime, it appears, does cause him some pain
he never gives up
working with finger sore and if he is not more careful
he won't do it no more.
You have 10 digits is true
what you do with them is up to you
but cutting them off one by one
is a lot more pain than fun.
Nice to see the cat being rewarded for doing her final inspection and supervisory duties. She definitely gave this one the paw of approval. The colour was just perfect and it turned out amazing. Great video yet again.
Every resto job is a journey with you and I love taking the journey. It is an essential part of my Sunday morning. By the way, I loved that you added the horses at the end. You are the master of the subtle touch. Well done Chip, well done.
Oh, this restoration was a beauty! Now, I was waiting for the horses. And there they were.
Of course, the sheep had to watch over everything, and the cat wanted to know where the cat hauler was. Super job and very clever.
Happy New Year to you and all!
Happy new year for you to
Ouch! Nasty cut, four stitches. Love the skylight creation.
Thanks for sharing,
Cheers
Какая же у Вас светлая голова, чтобы додумать, доделать, исправить... все необходимые детали!!! ✨🍂💗
Дай Бог Вам здравия! 🙏💖
Awesome..thanks for adding the final touch of loading the horses!
Another beautiful transformation of a toy back to life
Wow that really turned out great!!! It makes me happy to watch something that was dirty, old, and rusted out get a beautiful new lease on life.
oh oh I see stitches. Ouch buddy, sorry that happened. Show stopping restoration as always. Thanks.

Just love it. Can't get enough.
neatest channel, I'm 70 and love the restoration.
Chip, your channel is much more than the restoration of time-pieces. It is a microcosm of American manufacturing and ingenuity. These were heirloom pieces and not just toys.
Your work belongs in the Smithsonian Museum or as a traveling museum exhibit.
Your craft as are your restorations -timeless!!
There are many "restoration" channels out there for models; however, I'm finding this one to be an authentic task being accomplished. The others seem to have a lot of this weird yellow stuff on them.
This channel inspires me!
I love watching your restorations. Its nice to see that you keep as true to the original colors as possible
I LOVE watching you restore. It's amazing the amount of detail that went into making these toy trucks/cars. You show this, by your step by step removal and restoring. I only ever hope, that one day, I too, may be able to have the knowledge to work these machines, and tools, to do this. It has always been a dream of mine. Look forward to ALL your next work. Thank you so much for the entertainment, understanding, and fun in allowing me/us to watch your talent. All the best. 😘😘😘
I noticed how the horses hopped into the truck, and the sheep with the cowboy hat. You're a character.
I swear, I could watch you sandblasting that rust off all day.
I love. the blue paint and your restoration is surperb!
Dear once again Excellent... impressive that the animal cargo trucks continue with the same layout.
I have been watching a bunch of you're videos, And you are just AMAZING! what you do!!! I am 62 years old and remember most of the Tonka and Buddy L you restore, So many memories of toys from my past!!
I love your passion for your art. It’s a pleasure to witness the transformation. Great work, in spite of the ouchie.
His hands took a beating on this one.
This guy has serious skills!
nice restore like the color. All ready to go riding fun .Cute horses giddy up !
Can't help it, the sheep still crack me up.
Same here! But alas, poor Duodecimus (the twelfth sheep) has gone missing - and has been missing so long I fear he may be in the lamb chop box... 8O
I absolutely adore the sheep
That little cowboy hat was it for me 😂🤣😂
up.
most exciting part of this video was the bandaid costume changes. first i was like, ooh he's a pixar guy. then! the frozen plot twist added disney into the mix! but the fourth quarter addition of a - dare i say, dark horse? - candidate from the lol surprise camp was a shocking finale! 5 stars, two thumbs up.
Beautiful restoration.
These vids are INCREDIBLY soothing and peaceful. The sheep cause me to grin!
Thx for sharing.
OMG!! Love it!! Can we please start making children’s toys like this again! 💁🏼♀️
Unfortunately, Everything is made in China because of cheaper labor.
Great work on a beautiful old toy! Cheers!😁👍🛠️🔧
Chip, that is ONE BEAUTIFUL PIECE OF ARTWORK. BRAVO ! Keep up great work 👍👍👍👍👍
The vacuum form windshield was a technical clincher. First time and you got it right.🥇
Congratulation chip Channel from Brazil the Fábio and Rafael. The best restauration. Happy new year.
Awesomeness. You are magic. I spotted a GoodRich tire truck in your junkyard. Maybe someday........
A very awesome looking horse truck now a very good job done there.
That little tow truck cracks me up hauling the old trucks off 🤣
I enjoy restoration videos ❤
I love watching your restoration! Thanks for sharing it with us.... love the sheep and your kitty.
I remember when I was very young I always loved to go visit my mother's brother's house in Ohio. He had an attic full of toys just like these. Heavy duty metal cars, trucks, tractors, and trailers that his kids, 20 years my senior, used to play with in the 40s and 50s. Your videos bring back such fond memories of those days. Awesome restoration! Thanks.
Had to watch this one as my brother had the identical truck when we were kids! So glad you went with the blue. We (cousins, brother, self) usually abused our Dinky and Corgi vehicles in the dirt of the farm each summer, and the Tonkas and Buddy Ls were much more practical; we just didn't have enough of them!
Brings back memories from a lo-o-ong time ago!
That is a huge improvement.
I would go so far as to say it is a real beauty!!!!
My kids ( 2&5) love watching you! They love looking for the sheep 😁
Love the junk yard and the guard sheep and your awsome talent thanks for sharing your awsome talent
A sheep riding a horse?! Now I've seen everything!
😃
Again, great job, and LOVE the sheep.
That is one cool looking toy truck. Nice work.
By far my favorite channel no talking just the sounds of restoration ❤️❤️❤️❤️🥰🥰🥰🥰
Fantastic restoration !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
One of the BEST restores you have done.. Amazing.. and with only 9 fingers too!!!!
I just love love love when that tiffany blue color is used in restorations. Stunning work 😍
Amazing, I would never have believed that such a rusty wreck-toy someone can make such a wonderful truck! You are really extremely skilled! I feel like a little boy again, even though I'm 43 years old, thank so much 😁 Greetings from Prague 🇨🇿🇪🇺
Missed this one first tjme around so able to "like." Fantastic work as usual. Love the horse box. Hello from the UK.
I love your kitty so much! And amazing work as always!
Beautiful.... just Beautiful, as always.
Thank you so much for sharing the history of this toy. It really helps to personalize the already friendly atmosphere of your videos (I absolutely LOVE the sheep--- "I'm OK!") and makes me feel even more a part of your adventure, which is what I consider each video I see of yours. Thank you, and keep up the great work! BTW, I am now on the lookout for any old restorable toy that I may find in any of the flea markets or antique shops I go to, now that I have your donations address!
Beautiful work
Просто офигенный талантливый человек это делает, ну просто круто, супер. Ещё и поиграл, какой молодец.
You are the best!! Your work is super clean
beautiful job!! beautiful colors!!!
Another fantastic job! Love the color combination and very cool how you molded the clear plastic top!
Sometimes I think you do such a good job that the vehicle looks better than it did new and this is one of those times.
I love watching your obsession saving old tonka/vehicle toys planes etc. thank you so much! Awesome collection! Magnificent ability to fix these! Love your kitty! And ouch on the stitches that had to hurt!
He dib a good work. Nice looking truck. Those are the toys I would have been playing with, those and army men. I was born in1958.
Calculating the days it took you to do this by the changing of the bandaids! Ouch, you really copped that a beauty 😣
I *really* want a sheep mug!
That turned out very nice. I’m guessing you must have an old catalogue or something to be able to know what half of these resto’s are even supposed to look like. I never would have guessed a skylight in the back there!
Oh kitty kitty. This one turned out nice. (They all turn out nice.) Good job.
I think how you show all details is fantastic..Also..your cat is cool..
I think you changed its color, but I'm not complaining, it looks awesome. I love watching these restorations, it's the next thing to being able to do one myself and I miss being able to.
He did, that specific toy was originally a maroon color. That said, the Carolina blue he painted is also incredibly close to another original color option for that model. It's still a mostly historically accurate restoration.
A great restoration, looks amazing! I love the cowboy sheep. It appears your work received a favorable catscan! 😺
I love watching these restorations. They are amazing!
Great job! It looks better than new! I was a bit surprised that you didn't split the box open to sand blast those pieces alone.
👍👍👍🎖🏅🏆Impecable trabajo... Saludos desde Viña del Mar Chile🇨🇱
Abrasive blasting and powder coating…mint results👌🏾
Friken awesome restoration sir. Top notch work. 😎👍
Nice job on this one I love the color you used 👍🏼
always another toy saved great work
Love the color and the horses!
I still have a few of my brother’s
horses from his childhood over 60 years ago. They came from his Fort Apache play set. Good memories!
(I noticed your bandaid - be careful!)

@@justasreal5483 A basic education in English for starters.
@@carmium
You seem a little grumpy.
@@Tim-57 Nah. I'm always that way when someone can't write a comprehensible sentence. I have a cousin like that; her crazy mom took her out of school to teach her at home. That lasted a few weeks, and my cousin can't write a letter at age 60. It's not fair to her or to Carolyn - whatever her story is.
@@carmium
Bummer for your cousin.
@@Tim-57 Absolutely.
It must have been an endlessly enjoyable job back in the day to decide which vehicle would be manufactured next. Men that get to keep a boys obsession for a job.
You've definitely set the standard for quality of restoration. Best wishes for a rapid recovery!
Now that is one good looking toy. What a beautiful restoration :)
Happy Holidays, Chip!
Great work, beautiful. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Sandblasting. Relaxing.
I know we don't always see the whole thing, and it's all done to satisfaction, but the tinny leftover spots of paint drives me nuts! 😧
😉
Haha! Love your amazing restoration for Tonka! LoL you put sheep guard on horses in the end! You makes me laugh when I see that sheep guard! Amazing transformation Tonka you put your best effort!
It is not a Tonka....
@@WieDrDerJonge oh I see ok, It look like that truck 🚚 is original Tonka company made in 1960's. 🙂 love that one
NOOO! Stitches on those beautiful hands!!! Be careful. Those hands fascinate me. Love your channel. You don’t just reach into the junk yard and pick a vehicle. No, the wrecker has to go pick it up and drag it to the shop. And you didn’t just place the horses in the truck. No! You walked them up the ramp!!😂. This is why I love you!!! (And the beautiful hands!) 😉
Hope the finger is ok! Got a kick out of the different bandaids!! Beautiful restoration! The sheep are just a hoot! Boop the kitty on the nose!! Too cute!!
I was so happy to see the horses get in😄 Although Im sure they were quite upset to see an enormous cat peering in😂 Great job, as usual. May your junkyard always be full of projects!
