Othais: _dislikes Krags_
Also Othais: _makes 5 hours, 51 minutes, and 8 seconds worth of Krag content over five videos_
Gotta rub it in you know.
Those last 8 seconds really smart...
History is history
nothing quite like making a 6 hours rant about the thing you dislike
Othais is fickle.
How long are you going to make us wait for guinea pigs eating berries to royalty-free pan flute music?
I swear I will obtain a Norwegian Krag Carbine. Tempted to see what accuracy they are capable of.
Update 12/21/2020 I got one
How hard was it to find ? I've only ever seen 1894 rifles and 1912 short rifles. Never a carbine here in the US
I'm necroposting, but how is it?
How was the accuracy
Never told us the results
@@masonhaggerty186 you find them every so often, rarely on Gunbroker, more commonly on auction sites where they fetch a pretty penny. I don't see them going on auction for less than $1,200.00 these days.
I may not be able to marry this video, but I'm sure as shit getting engaged
*yoinks for later use
Thats pure guldring
Somebody hire and/or marry this person ASAP
_golf clap_
You will make a beautiful couple.
Krag-Jorgenson Short - Stylish Steampunk specials for Europeans, a perfect pairing with Mauser C96 pistols.
@Deanimator Well, I suppose the Norwegian M1914 Pattern of Brother Browning’s big pistol will do for a strictly Norwegian pairing. That extended slide-release lever does visually match the prominent magazine cut-off lever on the early Norwegian Krag-Jorgenson Rifles.
The U.S. 1911 pattern pistol will, of course, be reserved for pairing with a Winchester 1895 rifle: the 1911 / 1895 pairing would produce the proper Browning Steam-punk exposable slides, sliding-bolts, moving pivots, links, levers & locking block contraptions set ;-)
Lol....sticthes88888xxxxx*****.
When I came over from the Great War in 2014 I came looking for copper...and I found gold!
I was looking for brass personally
I found shaped & fired clay, currently watching it as it slowly turns to marble... quite curious really.
You lucky person!
Hello from Norway. This the best RUclips Channel on old rifles and about the Krag rifle.
I pretty much never comment anywhere, but for C&Rsenal, I will comment all day every day
Hard to believe I have been enjoying your content for 6 years now😊
This and the metford cavalry carbine must be the most aesthetically pleasing guns from this era
Personally I think the Arisaka type 44 carbine was a pretty little darling.
All the Krags. All of them! I think there's a station for that.
Sweedish Mauser Cavalry Carbines not on the list!?... ccooommmeeeoonnnnnnnnn.
The Krag is well know for having very smooth action.
Damn I really thought the PCSC would win the Elbonian DMR trials, but I guess Dupont's scoped hand cranked clay shooter was really as good as advertised...
No, Elbonia ahould go with Krags. Beautiful rifle for a beautiful country
"apparently some stuck around in very limited use until the 1980's, but I am unsure what for"
Defending Svalbard from polar bear raids obviously.
Well handled Bear cavalry is a real threat!
Going to guess that it might have been used by our homeguard( heimevernet), seeing as my dad carried a mp40 until mid 90s( one other officer had a issued luger as a sidearm), aswell as youth homeguard here having 98k's
Not at all an unreasonable guess. I'm pretty sure the main reason to have a nice bolt action, smooth shooting, gun with iffy reloading in the 80's was sport, the second was to shoot polar bears. I can absolutely see the Coast Guard having a Krag or two on board and resisting any attempt at modernizing their guns. They want to have the same old guns that are nice to shoot targets with, they don't want or need a fighting gun, depsite what their superiors think.
It's why I shot more a break action shotgun (skeet) than my hk416 or mp5 (the actual military guns) when I was in the Coast Guard.
@@voiceofraisin3778 Don't they have the right to arm bears?
Most probably for competition shooting. A lot of Krag Jørgensen actions was rebuilt with new stock, heavy barrels and diopter sights. Until the STR arrived in around 1990, it was the most popular rifle for competition shooting in Norway.
It’s amazing how well though out the ergonomics were on that rife so many features I never would have noticed if you didn’t point them out. OLD WORLD CRAFTSMANSHIP.
HELLO RUclips I DO NOT WISH TO SEE ANY MORE ENTERTAINING, WELL RESEARCHED VIDEOS ON SMALL ARMS HISTORY BY THESE PEOPLE WHO I DEFINITELY DON'T LIKE A WHOLE BUNCH PLEASE TAKE ME OFF YOUR LIST I DO NOT CONSENT
Oh. oh.... Semper Fidelis
PLEASE CONSIDER THIS COMMENT APPLICABLE TO MYSELF AS WELL THANK YOU
PLEASE SHOUT MORE LOUDER AT THE GOOGLE ROBOTS THEY WILL NOT RESPOND OTHERWISE.
Woww keep it down guys, no need to shout so loud🙄
Blink twice if you are being held against your will.
I secretly hope this just keeps going; training Krags (The «Boy’s Krag»), the harpoon convertion, ALL THE KRAGS
The all Krags all the time channel. I'm not sure that's a problem for me lol
Dont forget the Stomperud Krag-Jorgensen for German Occupation force in Norway
Its amazing the amount of obscure and rare guns that this channel tracks down especially unmolested ones that are over a hundred years old by this point, its a testament to their hard work and having mark to work on them is added incentive not many channels have such a dedicated gunsmith and mae gets beat up by some old boy guns and othais is such a deep diver
@@jonwingfieldhill6143 I support three channels on Patreon, Mark and C&Rsenal are two of them. I love their dedication to getting this information out to the public, and will always support it.
I want to believe that someone used a Norwegian harpoon gun in combat at some point in the Great War.
Your reverse psychology won’t influence my actions
This is now my holy grail Krag. All hail the SMKJ!
The wet ammo accuracy problem was mostly affecting the Bull barrel sporter rifles with free floating barrels. The original thin barreled versions with barrel bands were not very affected.
There's some very important but subtle differences on the 1912 action in addittion to increased diameter. They learned a bit from the Steyr ones and rounded some internal corners around the ejection port etc, where the 1894 pattern had sharp corners that act as stress risers. A '94 will eventually develop metal fatigue and crack, though it can take many tens of thousands of rounds to get there. The 1912 action is pretty much immortal and doesn't wear out in that manner.
I just want to thank you for this magnificent contet 😊 to me the best contet of your show this far has been this comprehensive and thorough series of krag rifle family, the meny times completely forgotten work horses and in there lies to me the heart of your show. There is thousands of informative and less informative videos abaut lee enfields but there is non in english abaut nordik krags or Romanian mannlichers or meny other forgotten or underrated rifles and rifle familys which you have covered. You guys are true saints for preserving and sharing this history keep up the good work 🤗
Ah, the sarcastic approach. I like it. You get a cookie
I've been stuck in a hospital bed for about 3 weeks now due to a motorcycle accident leaving my leg shattered, so I've been catching up on these history videos, and now I'm finally caught up! Thanks for giving me a distraction away from my problems, and here is a comment for engagement!
oof.
The day after watching World War Two's epic premiere of the Pearl Harbor raid I am greeted with a C&Rsenal video.
Thanks for reminding me its Tuesday!
That 5 hours was one heck of a ride for sure. Gotta admit though, it is nice to have plenty of brain food available so readily.
Absolutely...the best reason to look forward to Tuesday, at least twice a month
So many Krags! Love the work you guys are putting in, the effort really shows!
I really love this guy. I'm already crazy about guns but his excitement and energy makes these videos even more interesting.
Don't let people get you down brother I love the history of firearms
The most enduring great war channel contribution to my every day life, these guys right here 😊 (to be fair I think the gwc was an amazing idea and I enjoyed it greatly, but these guys here are like internet family)
The Krag Channel is back!
Norwegian Designers: "Can you ski with It?"
Thanks, didnt knew what to watch on this tuesday morning anyway^^. Thank you for what you're doing, always excited as soon as you guys upload.
That first carbine might be the most Beautiful bolt-action I've ever seen
Firearm history is way more complex and interesting than I ever imagined.ty
Those are gorgeous!!! Thank y’all for bringing these beauties to the light of day!!
I had a teacher who happened to bump into a German in a cafe in Berlin in the 70s, he was stationed in Norway during the war "Norwegians, they are excellent marksmen".
Pre Snow Flake fall out of the 90's 2000's.
With the amount of trained Norwegian shooters at the time, an accurate rifle shooting an excellent round, I don't doubt that.
The month of Krags is running almost as long as Forgotten Weapon's 'month of Bergmann pistols', not that I am complaining
Bergmania was my favorite era of Forgotten Weapons.
Excellent episode, and great research work! One of my Norwegian customers also like it a lot that you did this research.
An excellent way to start the day, with a new video!
Hey gang, outstanding video as always.
I’m turning 21 on friday and I’m so excited to finally start collecting milsurp handguns! Your channel has really inspired me to do deep research on early 20th century handguns, and sparked a strange love of .32 ACP. Thank you for making these awesome videos every other week!
Thanks for all the hard work I have learned so much from these shows all I can say is thank you
Love the Krag videos! Thank you so much, my uncle gifted me an 1898 Springfield, and since ammo is dang expensive for it I’ll settle for learning everything I can about it to impress my grandpa and uncle in the future when we do take it to the range
Yes! my most anticipated episode ever!!!
I was lucky enough to find one of the 1912 carbines a few years back. Like always, this has been an outstanding series.
I too enjoy commenting on videos and engaging with content. what a time to be alive!
Keep up the great work guys! Really enjoy your videos!
I love history and your channel is one of the best. Thanks!
Another excellent primer guys. I’ll buy some murch ASAP. Love to see Ian and yourselves giving the ‘shout outs’
Gotta love the versatility of the Krag
Another excellent video!
Here's a couple ideas for Krag merch... "I love loosies" showing the different nationalities of Krag. "Loosie Goosie" with a charicature goose that looks like Oleg Krag holding a Krag rifle.
Awesome works as always guys!
M1912 carbine ticks all the aesthetic boxes for me, what a sweet looking piece. I've been looking forward to this particular weapon being featured.
Perfect choice of music for this rifle. :) A real beauty.
Engaging with C&Rsenal for the algorithm. Thanks for all the great content!
Please keep up more of the same! These vids are the best. (I wouldn't normally comment, but knowing how the engagement works and the fact I can write a comment like that and still be honest about this channel I will try my hardest to comment on all your future releases.)
Love your videos, always informative.
This video is fantastic! I do have a slight correction though. The picture shown of "Jan Smutts" is actually a picture of his brother General Tobias Smutts, who was 9 years older than him. Some sources have claimed this is Jan, but once comparing other photos of Tobias to those two famous photos of him with the krag, as well as reading Karl E Haneviks writings on the subject, as well as "Small Arms of the Anglo-Boer War 1899-1902" by Ron Bester, it seems like it truly is Tobias rather than Jan. It is likely that Jan did also use the Krag though, as some other higher ranked officers did.
Thanks for another great episode
You keep making videos, I'll keep watching them.
Smoothest bolt action I hever tried.
Great show. Thanks
I love these videos, I would love to get a SMKJ to go with my 1916 SMLE! LOL A smacky and a smelly
It's up there with world 'cuteness'...lol' let the lust rollon my UBI.
I've dreamt of owning a 1912 krag for years. That and the ross mkiii are two rifles I'll probably never own but will forever pine for
From the people who brought you the All-Mauser Channel, its the All-Krag Channel! Bringing you all Krags, all the time! No Krag left unturned!
Jk! I have an American Krag, love this stuff.
I have a sporter 1912 Norwegian and I love it.
I have a few American Krags, and love them!
Having seen, and foolishly not bought, a Norwegian Krag at a gun show about tens years ago, I want one!
Lovely as always.
so weve evolved from the all 32 pistol channel, to the all mauser channel, to the all krag channel. Love you guys keep up the great content.
Delightfully informative! Thank you!
Commenting to comment and help out the stats and also say I have loved these videos for years!
The Krags in South Africa are known to be favoured by the Boer officers, interestingly enough. Interesting that some of the rifles may have been produced in Norway, the usual story is always that they were made from spare parts at Steyr, about a hundred in total. Looking into the e small arms of the Second Boer war is quite fascinating, a real mishmash. It would perhaps be a suitable special episode after Primer ends?
Man, I'm loving the look of that SMKJ.
Thank you for all your work you are putting into this. May the algorithm be kind and may your workdays be shorter
Thanks for the great content
great episode!
another great show
Great work! Keep it up!
We love the all Krag Channel!
You’ve convinced me that some kind of Krag should be in my collection someday.
Great hunting rifle. Reasonably light. Powerful. Accurate. Easy to handle. Especially since most you come across these days are sporterized.
Well after over a year of watching C&Rsenal I've finally caught up! Can't wait for any future pistols that might find their way into the show 🤔
Great info!
I engage with this video because it provides valuable content and wish for others to see it...
(Sorry, nothing clever to say)
To keep up with the Krag theme, you should do an episode on how the Krag influenced the Aggro-Krag from Nickelodeon's Guts back in the 90s. Although one is a firearm and the other is...a fake rock, I feel that there could be something there. Put Crozier on it...or the range goat
I had no desire for and almost no knowledge of krags until seeing this series and now I have a burning desire for one, same with the frommer stop, I half suspect this is hypnotic suggestion in cahoots with auction houses.
love Mae's hat at the end. We used to call it The Dead Cat in the Bundeswehr 😄
Let’s all give the feels to Mae for having to shoot what is essentially the same rifle five times only better each time. 🥲
Absolutely gorgeous looking carbine.
I am fully engaged with this video
Good episode.
Kinda missing "war where declared"
I recognise the carbine from the original zombies game on Call of Duty Black ops and it was my favourite gun.
Thanks for the history
We are all friends of othias on this page👍 hope everyone is as happy and healthy as possible
Commenting to subject others to more detailed historical content on Krags and beyond.
Get Mae a Hurtiglader for those Krags!
More Krag's! Mooooore!
I'll miss these krag episodes...Nevermind, I can rewatch them!
Its not a short Rifle , its a long carbine. Love the content keep up the great work !!!
Commenting to help engagement! Keep up the good work guys these old guns are fascinating. Oh also I think the most recent t-shirts are what the kids these days refer to as "dope"!
with a krag you always have a couple of cartridge handy for lucy loading, during a lull in combat you can top off the mag, so it always has 5 rounds ready.
Sling swivel-point changes are a helluva drug.
You guys rock
