  • Unreal Engine might just be the most important tool for architecture, design and archviz moving forward because of one thing...INTERACTION!

    VIDEO SUMMARY
    I have been working for a couple months now (you've probably seen) on my Gable House project, which started as a 3ds Max + Vray project, but was always intended to end up as a fully interactive project in Unreal Engine. I am really pleased with how it has been coming along, and particularly with some of the interactions I have been able to add. Honestly, the things I am creating can only be done in Unreal Engine (or similar game engine) as far as I know. And, I think they can really change the way in which we design, and visualize architecture. I would love to hear what you think about it. Stay until the end to get the full rundown on how I created my "template" blueprints that enable me to interactively change multiple different things throughout my scene, like lights and materials, all in real time.

      Just the stuff I have here on RUclips. I have the beginnings of a blueprints tutorial on here which starts to show the basic principles of how it works. My paid UE5 course does go more in-depth on it too with how to set up a UI slider and link it to time of day.

    Very cool! Can this be published for a vr headset, like quest 3? Maybe by using virtual desktop.

      In theory, yes it can. I am going to be exploring that functionality next.

    • @arcitek66
      @arcitek66 7 месяцев назад

      You should clarify this question. Do you mean publish an environment like this so it can run in the Quest without a cord? I can tell you that with my Quest 2 corded to my laptop, I can run some pretty complex scenes in VR but there will be some challenges. I just did a project that needs to run in the Quest uncorded and I really had to watch my drawcalls in unreal related to materials and geometry. Nanite is awesome but you still need to be watch your scene construction if you want your framerates in the headset to be above 72. Remember, in VR, everything has to be rendered twice.

    • @Learn-archViz
      @Learn-archViz  7 месяцев назад

      @arcitek66 yeah, I haven't tested all that yet, but I'm guessing your experience is probably common. For complex stuff, there is still a need to run off the PC

    Hey Adam, I’m just wondering why are we have to use Unreal Engine to turn our projects to VR or Gaming mode while many other AI apps do the same thing with ready made scripts. I mean why the clients will ask us for this when they can get it in couple of minutes with no extra costs! Even in Unreal Engine it’s all about copy and paste blueprint scripts with no creativity. The creative thing will be only the Architectural design! To be honest I’m a 3D Artist but I can see that in next years everything will be easier for the client to get it by himself without needing a designer.

      Two things: Unreal Engine consistently allows for the best quality visuals, IMO, and also it is the only solution that offers fully customized interactions. If those two things are not needed, there are absolutely better solutions. If you just need simple VR, go with Twinmotion or Enscape. If you just need real time, really high quality visuals, go with Vantage maybe. There are many ways to do the same things, and a lot of it depends on the goals of a specific project. For certain things, I find that Unreal Engine is the best tool for the job.

    hey bro! looks cool! i have a question: i see, you use stationary light sources, which, if you put them more than four in a scene, are marked with a cross in a red circle. Do I understand correctly that they continue to work in dynamic lighting, but if you bake the light, they won't work anymore? And why not use Movable sources?
    Thanks!

    • @Learn-archViz
      @Learn-archViz  Месяц назад

      I should just change them to movable. No reason not to. Lumen has changed things so that everything just works dynamically. No need for baking anymore (for me) so the red X is kind of meaningless, honestly.

      I have posted a lot of general things about my process here on this channel. That said, RUclips is not the best format for a deep dive into a step by step tutorial of everything. That is much more suited for a paid course and lesson format. If I just posted all of that on RUclips, it would get almost no views (the algorithm would not pick it up) and I would make basically no money from it, even though it would be enormous amounts of work. So yes, if you need to learn Unreal from the beginning, or see all the steps of this process in order to follow along, the course is the best option for that. Fortunately, I am able to keep it very cheap for now.

    Hello Adam, I am not understanding what this video is for. Are you promoting a new course for UE 5? I had already purchased your UE course where you took the A Frame cabin and created an outdoor environment with megascans. It was a good course although there was only a small section relevant to UE 5 aspects. Also, you did touch on VR in this as well. The challenge is that we are now at UE 5.3 and there have been some really good improvements. I have not checked the course lately but have you updated it? Is this video like a sort of update?

    • @Learn-archViz
      @Learn-archViz  7 месяцев назад +1

      No, this is specifically for RUclips, but I am using this project to add updated content to the course. I have added about 4 new lectures so far about adding interactivity, but I am in the process of adding a lot more, eventually covering all the blueprint stuff I am doing in this project.

      No, just enough spec to run a basic PC computer game. The file size is heavy because of all the content, but running it as an .exe is not very heavy at all.

      No, you're right. That might be a simpler way to do several of the things, especially the material changes. The blueprints would look a bit different, but the overall effect would be similar to the end user , I think. I might experiment more with setting up some things that way as well.
