Made my husband a snack and coffee and asked him to sit with me and listen to this! You dredged up so much of the hidden stuff that we couldn’t have put words to why we feel as we do about educating our kids. Thanks!
Wow, this video was such an encouragement to me today. Let me explain….we have been attending a new church the past few months. We have service, a fellowship meal, and an afternoon service. We’re away from home from about 9:30-3:00 on Sundays. This is a huge change for us. We had been invited to a someone’s home for dinner last night. We had just under 2 hours at home between church and this family’s home. We didn’t get home until after 9:30 last night. We are exhausted at the end of every Sunday whether or not we’ve been ay someone’s house for dinner. 😅 I’ve been thinking of how to change our Mondays for several weeks now. What you said about gathering everyone, discussing the weekend, late breakfast, cleaning up the house, afternoon read alouds….it was exactly what I needed to hear! Thank you so much for that and all the great info you shared in the video. ❤
This has blessed me today. We had a Monday like you described and I was wore out from the weekend. My brain was turning to mush. 😂 I took a nap while my daughter did an art project on her own accord and felt so much better. And we enjoyed the school day. It was so relaxed!! Nothing was planned. But we were learning. I was listening to this video just now while I finished the pile of dishes and daughter is outside running in the sunshine. It was like you gave me permission to have a relaxed Monday!! 😂 May God bless you for your encouraging wisdom!!
I'm always blown away how the Holy Spirit uses you to send a message just for me 🥰, at least that's how it feels. Thank you so much for this. I've been really struggling with being disciplined and staying disciplined and not being discouraged by all the derailment and things that come up and we do have the Mondays off schedule. I like your differentiation between regimentation. 😊 As far as your common place notebook, I don't know how you're making those, they're absolutely gorgeous! For my family something I've looked at in notebooks is having both lined pages and whole blank or bullet style pages intermixed... also just 3-5 big horizontal boxes is something I've enjoyed because then we can practice things like ordering how things happened or do one block per section of reading or phases of plant/animal growth type of thing.
Thank you for this video! I’ve been homeschooling for 17 years and our style has changed to something like this throughout the years. I am so happy to have watched your video, I often feel as though while letting my teens thrive in their different areas of interest, I am not preparing them academically the way some children are being prepared out there. After watching you, I have new confidence that while my kids may not have the desire to earn a degree from an Ivy League School they are happy and well adjusted young adults. They love God and our family and if that’s good enough for them, it’s enough for me! Being faithful to the Lord is what I call a successful homeschool journey ❤
Love this! I’ve never thought about that with the bells in school, but you are so right. So many times I feel the pressure of sticking to strict schedules or if I don’t feeling like a failure. But when I step back and look at all the reading we do, the learning to cook and measure ingredients, playing educational games, nature study, field trips, exercise playing outside, learning life skills, etc… I don’t feel so bad. ❤
Sherry, this was such a helpful video. I’m so grateful for all the wisdom and practicality you share. Every time you post, it’s exactly what I need to hear. 💜
I cannot wait till your commonplace are available. We use your free notebook pages for our history studies and I just love them. I made a history notebook with all your pages that I comb bound with a laminated cover. It is such a beautiful record of our year. I wonder if a blank table of contents and numbered pages would be a nice addition. Then we could fill that in as we go. I bought a spiral notebook this year with a blank ToC I though I would never use, but it actually is quite handy.
I think everyone would gladly pay for a downloadable version. I know I would. I really appreciate your free resources, but I know how much time and love you pour into everything. We all want to support that! In prayer and financially.
@@redfury8980 Thank you so much for your words of appreciation. I actually have a place for donations on my website, but I just remember how hard it has been for me at times to afford even a few dollars, so I want to keep things free for those who struggle financially but still want to give their children the best.
Thank you for your joyful diligence! You have been a tremendous blessing in my life. I'm really excited about your commonplace book. What about having a place for writing titles of books read? My daughters like to keep track of how many books they've read each year.
😮This has to be the missing piece my brain has been searching for. After reading and re-reading CM’s books and discussions on raising kids without undue manipulation (reward/punishment)…. I have struggled to put this into practice. I understood what she was saying superficially but it just wasn’t clicking internally. Everything you’re explaining is exactly what was missing in my understanding. Thank you for putting so much work into studying these ideas and sharing them with us.
One of the things that messes me up and adds stress is when the high schoolers need transcripts. It feels like a slave driver itself lurking over my head!
An eye opener! Thank you for this. We are so easily manipulated by traditions, how we ourselves were taught, and by those in power in this world. South Africa is currently trying to pass an education Bill that will enforce even more control by this communist government, including trying to control the homeschooling environment.

This is a great idea--I had thought of putting a sort of story-board page together, too.

This has me in tears

That's right--you are doing a great job!
You truly are a blessing to this homeschool mama. I truly thank God for you.
Hallelujah!

I'm so glad you liked the notebooking pages. Someone else suggested a table of contents, so I created one that sounds like what you described :)
Thank you for sharing, may God renovate our minds. I'm Homeschool mom of 4 .blessings.
I know I need some renovation!
Ooh also, could you make a digital version available as well as print. I love to make my own personalized covers for each student.
Absolutely, I love to give my resources away for free that way :)

I'll try and work that in. Thank you :)

I really understand your struggle! It is my pleasure to be of help :)
Those notebooking pages look lovely! Im looking forward to using them for when my kids finish their RC books 😊
That sounds like a great idea :)
Thank you! Love that people think laws can set morals
Good point. Morality should be the reason we make laws, and not the other way 'round!
Love listening to all the wisdom you have!
Bless you :)

Just live and learn, and when you're done put it all into educationeze. Done it lots of times!
I hear alarms at work too! I'm in healthcare.
They're everywhere!
Thank you, Sherry
You are very welcome!
I loved this! Such interesting content. Thank you Sherry!
My pleasure!

Praying for you all!
