I'm doing 33 day to Morning Glory but it's a lot deeper than the Consecration to St Joseph that I did last year. I feel not as worthy as I read but I hope I see and feel differently as I go on.

@@WarriorKnitter Yes, I can see that. At first it seemed like you were just praying to Mary but later I read of course you can consecrate to Joseph, of course you can pray to St Anne etc. It did seem confusing to me at first but I do overthink things at times. :)

Hello, as catechumen and newbie to christianity would you recommend I include devotion to Mary? Some would argue it'd derail us from the main focus = a relationship with Christ... Any one reading this actually I would love your advice too. I must say at time I resonate more with protestants... also regarding the 1-2 year period to get be baptised. This point is brought up by many (the idea that devotion to Mary derails our focus toward Jesus)! But, devotion to Mary means devotion towards the one who knows Christ best, His mother. She only wants to lead us closer to His heart, she's here to guide us toward him! So devotion or prayer to her is not focusing only on her beauty and graces, but it's saying "Mother, through your sinless grace given to you by God, lead me closer to the merciful heart of your Son, Jesus!" She has been created to bear Jesus through all eternity and as Fr. Michaelangelo mentioned, Jesus gives us Mary as our spiritual Mother at the foot of the cross: "Behold your Mother" We entrust ourselves to the will of Mary, and the will of Mary is for us to someday see the face of Jesus in Heaven! She would greatly help your journey as a catechumen and new Christian :)
No, the only way it can derail you from your relationship with Christ is if you didn't understand the Blessed Mother of God and our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. To understand Mary , one of the best books is "Hail, Holy Queen by Scott Hahn, who is also a convert to the Catholic Church. I myself am a convert to the Catholic Church, once I understood the Sacred Traditions, the Scriptures, and the Sacraments, once I studied the Blessed Mother Mary, converting to the Catholic Church was the holiest and most rational of all decisions. I've been a Catholic over ten some years now, coming from a Methodist background and an ARP seminary (most professors were Lutheran and Calvinists) background. Becoming a Catholic has been a beautiful, meaningful, and strengthening of resolve kind of decision.
Consecrate to Mary, talk to her often (via the rosary or other prayers or speak from your heart), know that she is helping you and loves you and is your Mom 💙 ask her to take things to Jesus for you, because she knows him best and can help you
Why do you want to join and what is holding you back from joining? The devotion to Mary is truly reverence to Her. She carried the Lord she raised Him. The Bible tells us to honor our father and mother. This is because if a child to a young adult cannot obey their earthly parents it will be very difficult to obey the Father in heaven. Mary is human, like us, one of us and when the angel told her how God wanted to use her she said yes! Wow! She carried the Son of God in her body! Wow! Jesus's Body & Blood were in Mary! She was the human Ark delivering Jesus to us. God chose Mary to do this and she didn't waiver in her task. Jesus followed her lead when at the wedding Cana, even though He felt His time had not come yet, she told Him the problem at hand, and He obeyed Mary! Wow! All we need to do is talk to Mary like she is our mother. Mary, if you don't mind, please ask your Son Jesus for my request. If it is the will of God may He grant this request. Jesus listened to her at Cana. She taught Him the prayers as a little boy growing up Jewish. Jesus spent more time on Earth with Mary than any other human person! Wow! She loves us just as she loved Jesus and her desire is for us to know her Son better.❤️

@@marydethjudge118 yes I'm doing 2 but it seemed like when you are doing it, it's "exclusive" which isn't the case.
As you go through it in successive years as you reconsecrate yourself, my experience has been that you understand it more deeply each year.

I live to serve the Lord only, not Mary. The Bible says you cannot serve to masters at once, so who do you devote yourself to? Jesus, or Mary?
