- www.caterpilla... ... From building cities to powering space missions or developing skills programs, our team and dealers have supported our customers for 95 years. That's over nine decades of remarkable people and projects.
The 3408 in my 1980 KW has done around 80,000 hours, still going strong! Careful maintenance, proper startup and shutdown procedure, bearing rolls at correct intervals, SOS oil sampling are the keys to long life, plus Caterpillar’s legendary quality of build.
You still run over the road in USA?
I got tickets for small black smoke in NYS. California no old pre teir 4 engine can run.
3408 awesome motor.
We fixed up V8 mack Superliner .
And have one Detroit two stroke 671 GMC still working .
Not one around anymore here
@@MitzvosGolem1 the above commenter is in Australia. It is rare to see a 3408 in a regular over the road truck in Australia….
@@JoeHupp we had one in 80s in dump truck in NY. V8 mack also.
@@MitzvosGolem1 bummer for your emissions. Here in Alaska you’ll see anything from new to old and no smoke to if that boy lets off the clutch she’s just bellowing.
@@MitzvosGolem1 poor Californians. Even here in Germany emission standards aren’t as strict as over there. Only in certain heavily polluted areas Euro 4 is mandated.
I watched this 3 years ago when I left highschool and knew this is what I wanted to do. Now after graduating tech school and completing an apprenticeship at another equipment dealership I start at NC Machinery next week.
Nice! You have a great career ahead of you brother.
@Dankyjrthethird😂😂😂😂❤❤😂
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Congratulations
A lot of old CAT machines, still doing tasks they were built to do 40-50 years ago. Almost, expect an older piece of equipment,on site.Just goes to show how well engineered, they are.
Your right and all the John deers ended up in the scrap lol
How are you I hope you are fine... Please I want a website to know the year of manufacture from the chassis number or any written evidence for example... Please help me
my dad had a 1936 Cat 22 that he found outside of a coal mine in Idaho in the 1990s. he restored that thing completely, even down to every single bolt. from what he has told me, it idled at about 100rpm flawlessly, but that was 25 years ago. last I heard, it was in a private museum down in Colorado Springs
There wouldn’t be a Hoover Dam, Golden Gate Bridge, and a Pennsylvania Turnpike without these kind of machines.
We’ve got 2 1947 CAT D7 dozers still going strong, working making roads and cutting the gravel pits. amazing old machines, a testament to the legacy!
Hard to get a long history like that boiled down to 8 minuets, but you managed to do it. Would have liked to have delved deeper into some of those machines especially some of the older ones, but that will have to be another video, maybe add " Card " links to some of those other machines, if they have there own videos. Happy Birthday , Caterpillar.
Got an old 1949 D4, with the original diesel engine. Never been overhauled. Starts and runs like a top, assuming I can get the pony motor going!
Watch it! I had a similar age D4 too. White gunk blocks the water passages of the pony engine in old D4's. The first symptom is the diesel taking longer to start due to not getting all the pony heat. Then the pony gets ruined due to lack of cooling. Pony engines should start easy - if it doesn't, probably points need adjustment, or carby needs cleaning.
What a fantastic and rich history ❤️
This channel should have about 10 million subscribers, kinda a shame that more people are not interested in one of the companies that built America. Great channel and Thank you.
My great great grandfather was a distributor of Caterpillar. Its crazy for me to see a picture of his company at 1:02 .
My dad had a 1943 D2 he used in his orange groves in Riverside, CA. The local dealer was Johnson Tractor (Caterpillar). I've been fascinated by these machines all my life. I 💕 Caterpillar machines!
Hi David, thanks for your comment. We are always happy to hear from our Cat fans 😊💪🏻. - Eli
@@caterpillarinc GREETINGS TO ONE AND ALL
I worked for Ohio Machinery for 42 years.. they made a great product!
Brilliant video how times have changed Still love the older cats real vintage Man me
Working around D9 Dozers for most of my working life I was amazed every day at what that machine can do, strong, powerful and beautiful lol
My wife never did understand my Love for these machines
Since I was a kid I loved Caterpillar. I ended up being a locomotive engineer but still dream of owning or running one!
A beautiful legacy of mechanical and industrial ingenuity, innovation and vision.
Beautiful machines !
This brought a tear to my eye, like being a proud family member.
Caterpillar has and had always great products especially the marine engines from former MaK brand.
Caterpillar makes history in my city a big dam construction. UHE de Tucuruí.
It’s insane to me to look at and think the first bulldozer looks damn near identical as one you can buy today, but look how different cars have gotten, shows how perfectly the bulldozer was designed way back when..
I operated the first Cat 235 excavator that was used in Mobile Alabama 👍
The cat 944 is my favourite wheel loader of all time it was also in the classic italian job movie
Love Caterpillar. Such a great Brand. Bet you we interact daily with something a Caterpillar helped built.
Grande marca trabalhei com essa marca durante muito tempo aqui no Brasil. Ótimos equipamentos.🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇺🇲
crazy how detailed these old pictures are
If there's time traveling in the future this video should be perfect to show them these people from the past their work.
I think it is crazy on how fast the machines evolved from weak machines to the power houses and technology they are today.
I went to CAT for Parts and they handed me part made in China...
I switched to Komatsu Japan now..
No thanks CAT.
Also your DPF Regen and having to call dealer service for $1000 to reset DPF ...No thanks
Awesome videos thank you! I really love caterpillar I made plenty of videos with tractors!
I remember reading up on some kind of big company that has a cat dozer with over 100k hours on it . And it's still in use to this day I believe. Really impressive
Cats are the best Diesel engines ever made
I love you caterpillar
Laying pipe on all kinds of terrain. This is why Cat is king.
we have a d17000 in one of our draglines, still working and making money to this day
Happy birthday CAT. I know that I’m a year late but, does it matter? Anyway, Happy birthday.
i run a 972m at work. great piece of equipment
Awesome video!
Wish you guys could make your machines more accesible on Argentina
Man, why don't companies advertise like that anymore? The advancing line of dozers and excavators looks awesome!
This video could last two hours long and still be short. Congrats
Great Video
Them god damn D10s nowadays can almost move mountains! I can’t wait to see what the future holds for us with Caterpillar, especially since they have such a rich history!
D11s are the biggest we make now
Did you forget your collab with EMD on locomotives?
I remember the big CAT place on Great Northern way In Vancouver. Must of been a huge job moving those cats. Now it's all changed in that area
When does it turn into a butterfly?
I wonder how many billions of yards of material Cat equipment has moved over the years
I wonder how much money was spent on yellow paint.
@@beas_espofficial6245 yes
top of the line no doubt.
Worked on model a and b 963 for a fleet last year well made. Highest hour one I saw was 45k hours original engine.
I like working on their over the road diesels better than most of the others, even Cummins. They are easier to service I think. And 3208 is an awesome v8
Was part of the blade conversion kit a hard bar to replace the traverse spring?
I operate cat haul trucks mostly the 777D its all around my favorite truck its older but they are just beasts and the 3408 powering it is a monster i make the joke saying im gunna put one in my little D6 at work to and id out push a D10
3508 not 3408
All the old Block C stuff keeps running while the new stuff sits waiting for a cat tech and a laptop to chase it around.
That's what you get for shoving in a bunch of electronic garbage
That's because as I always joke about old Landrovers, you can keep them going with pliers and a spool of wire
No roll bars No hard Hats oh the good ole days Hey Johnny did you escape your knee on the playground.Don't do It Again here's your bandaid
Harika klip olmuş

Any idea what the music is during the 1950s decade clip?
I believe that's Sandstorm by Darude
@@CodyUnderstorms sheesh I haven't seem that meme in a while
There is caterpillar grader from the 1975 grading my road now
I like Big Iron (mainframes) and I like Big Iron (CAT dozers).
I found an old cat 20 in this abandoned junkyard by my house I’m planing on fixing it bc it has most of its parts but I think it was a later molded probably 1933-44
How are you I hope you are fine... Please I want a website to know the year of manufacture from the chassis number or any written evidence for example... Please help me
Thank you for your interest! Your Cat dealer can help you with technical questions and other machine information. You can find a location near you on our website www.cat.com/en_US/support/dealer-locator.html?. - Isa
you had me at apollo
the music in the presentation of the first models does not match the achievement of the time
I just want a decent D2 to rebuild.
Where’s the skid??
Cant forget the killdozer
One day I see your vehicles on other planets and moons…
Cat skiner's Unite 💪🇺🇸
MAY DO'NT KNOW ABOUT THE YELLOW COLOR OF THE MACHINES CAT. IT'S A WARNING. "GET OUT OF HERE!" "IT'S A DANGEROUS AREA!".
My ADHD leads me down the weirdest rabbit holes
Now if only they could only carry that innovation forward instead of slapping Cat stickers on substandard equipment. Like Cat branded cell phones, horribly unreliable trucks from International, Mitsubishi/Perkins engines made in China, etc. It would be nice to see Caterpillar build itself back up to a pinnacle of American engineering and manufacturing.
I like what Caterpillar did to boy scouts
Caterpillar keep it simple mate, Just don't be John Deere.
J Paydirt has one of each.
buying a CAT is easy, as long as there's anything left it's not far from working order.
adam yapmış
if you guys ever go back to farm equipment be sure to make it better than John deer and let the people who buy the stuff repair it with your parts instead of having a service only thing.
Yea. But but alas I doubt they will. They died off on heavy trucks and farm equipment years ago and show no sign of doing anything about it
They forgot to mention they got through the depression years healthy due to selling tractors to the USSR.
I wouldn’t put 3 gorges on my resume just yet...
Caterpillar used to be good. Nowadays you have no gun signs on your doors, which is just stupidity, and you cant even get a price when you go in the place. Gotta call a rep, which doesnt even return calls, then even after that, your prices are through the roof anyhow.
they used to build them to last now build them to sell
Bose
🙂👍🇵🇹

Great!!!!
Please DON'T change to the idiotic idea to to make CAT an E - vehicle!!!!
It will happen soon
what's so bad about EVs anyway?
Not very well explained
