    Mike, another quick question please.
What is the purpose of that additional perspex canopy in the box?
    Thanks, Peter

@@Tube-bank, hi Peter, you have 2 options to display your plane, i.e OPEN or CLOSED CANOPY. That explains the extra canopy with a protruding mounting tab. If you decide to use it, the F35 will have an open canopy as if the plane was parked . It’s a display option of personal preference. Cheers.🐝

Mike’s Dreams, have you or do you know anyone that has produced a video on the actual build procedure?
I’d really appreciate some help on the order I which the components should be fitted e.g. weapons first and landing gear last, or vice versa.
Thanks for this great unboxing video, fascinating. Peter

Hi Peter, thank you for checking MIKE’S DREAMS. I am not quite sure if you’re referring to a die cast or plastic model assembly. I believe there should be several videos on plastic model assembly. Plastic models come with detailed assembly instructions. The die cast models, on the other hand, is the opposite. For the Hobby Master F35A Lightning II, you can choose either the BEAST MODE with all the external armaments or STEALTH MODE with all weapons concealed and the landing gears ‘retracted’ or YOUR OWN CHOICE MODE. In my opinion, the die cast models are for collectors who do not want any detailed assembly process while the plastic models are for collectors who are fascinated in building or assembling the model by the number based on the assembly instructions. I chose DIE CAST because I have graduated from plastic models early on in my life. Die cast planes are ready to be displayed and HOBBY MASTER scale models are decent enough in detail and most of all, you don’t need to paint them. I wonder what your preference is between plastic or die cast?
Going back to your example, weapons or landing gear (which comes first), in die cast models either way will do because they are not glued. All the best, Peter.

Mike, it’s really good to hear from you.
Thank you for picking up my post and your very speedy, helpful and comprehensive response to my question.
I’m talking about a Hobby Master die cast model here.
Thank you for explaining the difference between the die cast and plastic models regarding their construction. I see that Tamiya have recently introduced a plastic model. Well beyond my modest capabilities, but I’d like to have a look at the instructions all the same.
Even more important to me is your explanation of Beast and Stealth mode.
I was wondering why some of the parts seemed to share the same location slots in the fuselage! I think I’ll concentrate on assembling it in Stealth mode first. I have fitted some weapons, but as you confirm, they can easily be detached and replaced with the covers and panels.
As a first time ‘model maker’, I’ve somehow definitely made the right choice going for a die cast as my first model. Your point about not having to bother about painting parts and being ready to display is important to me, I’d never have thought of that.
By the way, my interest in the F-35 was stimulated particularly by watching www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m0009v3f
Although it’s a Lockheed product, I didn’t realise that there was so much British input into it.
      The programme features the F-35B.
I thought that you might enjoy that series.
      Best wishes, Peter

@@Tube-bank, I have enjoyed reading your response and I believe that your interest in the F35 will blossom into more planes in the near future. You are correct to say whilst it is a Lockheed Martin product, many other countries have contributed to ultimately develop the plane. It look many years for it to come to fruition and with all the successes and failures, the collaboration eventually produced an awesome 5th generation multi role fighter.
My interest in the F35 led me to collect all the 3 variants. The F35B is very interesting. Recently, the Japanese completed their tests in landing the F35B on one of their largest warships. The F35C, on the other hand, is larger than the 2 other variants.
Once again, thank you. Hopefully, your Hobby Master collection will grow through the years.
      Cheers mate! Mike

Mike, “ .. … I believe that your interest in the F35 will blossom into more planes in the near future.” I fear that you may well be right there! Thank you very much for that information about the F-35, very useful to me and I hope to the others. I did not realise that the F-35C is bigger than the other variants.
      Best wishes, Peter

@@Tube-bank, I may have used the wrong adjective there but the C variant only looks bigger because the wings are a tad longer on both ends and they are obviously wider for carrier take off and landing. Cheers.

Mike, quick question about my F-35A build.
The “blisters” on some of the weapons pylons seem to have rubbed away (probably with me struggling to get them to pop into the slots!)
This makes the fitting in the slot very loose.
    Is that normal?
I’ve had to use a dot of PVA on one of the four GBU-12s, which disappoints me. Peter

    • @MIKESDREAMS
      @MIKESDREAMS  Год назад

Hi Peter, that is really disappointing. I have glued some pylons on my other models because of this issue. Am sorry to hear that you have experienced this on your F-35.

@@MIKESDREAMS Mike, ok thanks for that re-assurance i.e. it's not just me then! Some of the pylon fit just fine. Others are more difficult to place. Thanks again, Peter
