A great plane that will only get better with time. It's no wonder China and Russia are scared and trying to play catch up. Hardpoints? If your opponents radars are no longer working (the 1st things to be hit) the F35 can be loaded for bear, stealth is not a factor. Information overload? Not really, he is locking onto targets from a distance, no big rush. This plane is not built for dogdights, it's built to kill without ever being seen. Those fantastical Sukhoi in Syria everyone now wants? No one is shooting missles at them. They are not that good. China and Russia only have planes that look stealthy, they are not stealth. India wants its money back on the joint India/Russia fiasco.
It is built for dogfights if it needs. According to Col. David Berke the F-35 is fabulous at close quarters combat and even in scenarios where he started the exercise on the defensive he was easily able to turn that around.
Is their any helmet-mounted vision acquiring system or is the only way to acquire targets via the cursor? Seems like in a dogfight situation that would take to long..
well i'm pretty sure the f-35 has some sort of dogfight mastermode and with its hmcs, i'm also sure it can lock targets with bore sight radar and maybe even control the seakerhead to an aim 9x for IR lock
***** hey, I reckon that the DAS view of the fighter exploding looked BMS graphics are a lot better... the fire coming out of his bird was just circles!
You seem not to get it. Why would a pilot be engaging in a BVR task while in the middle of a WVR engagement? Its rather too late to be designate targets to the computer for continous tracking when the target is already in the merge with you. So obviously the answer is no.
Seeing as CCIP'd F-16's can already cue their ACM radar modes in a dogfight using their HMCS, I see no reason to assume that the F-35, with its integrated DAS, would not be able to.
***** There must be a shortcut to lock on an attacking enemy automatically. It could be voice activated by saying something like "close air" which would select the aim-9, aim-120 or 25mm gun and guide you to the closest enemy fighter automatically. You could also say something like "flare time launch" or "chaff time launch" to dispense flares continually at a chosen rate. or simply "flare launch" to dispense flares only once. or use some shortcut button on critical controls. The most dangerous enemy could be detected automatically by checking it's heading and checking if he has a lock on you or worst if he shot a missile towards you.
They should take a queue from video games and 'tab through' types of targets to avoid having to place the cursor on a specific target, that looks like it takes time.
Just after the video ends: So great. Just sign here, and then I'll introduce you to Jenny from our finance team to discuss repayment options. I assume you'll be going for the 10 year paint protection on a baby like this?
Massive screen, seen through helmet visor. I am curious has glare ever been an issue? Also, ever try to adjust AC on newer Volvos? Imagine trying to find weapon controls while pulling high Gs
I think this is part of the pilots pre-flight/mission prep one the ground. (Cockpit HUD arrangement). Targeting does seem a little bit complicated though.
Well.. right now i'm 3 years away from bachelor degree in physics.. then comes the USAF.. and about those 3d renderings.. they're just some things that i made while my leg was broken! ;)
Is this a capacitive or resistive touch display? I wonder whether it is also possible to designate a target by touching it on the display or if that function is reserved for the cursor control on the throttle. If so, it would be unnecessarily complicated.
Not really all of our other jets use a little nub on the throttle for target designation and to control targeting pods wouldn't doubt if you could do it with touches also but I wouldn't call it overly complicated
Video went a bit invalid after the 7:20ish mark. The second you open your weapons bay doors, your radar signature is gone for those few seconds and those enemy fighters nearby would've seen for those few seconds that there's something in the air nearby.
+Homer Simpson Only if the enemy fighters know where to look with their radars. Perhaps you should get some time in a jet combat simulator like DCS World so you have a clue on how hard it can be to locate any aircraft, and how stealth aircraft actually make a BIG difference to combat (especially on the most dangerous First Day of any future major war).
Id only worry that the screen gets damaged, then how do I work with the jet?? In WW2/Cold War planes got damaged loads but at least you could look at the dials and still use the switches. but if that big screen got fucked then how do I control different aspects of the plane? Perhaps the must important controls can be done manually, I hope so.
I dug and dug for a post that was relevant to the question I wanted to ask. Sadly this was the closest I could find about jet fighter cockpit design. Now back at the time of this video. I get the impression heads up display was good. But the pilot was in a upright seated position, which in turn limits the turning G force. You know why. The blood drains out of the brain. ... What if, a cock pit was designed where the pilot was laying down on the same plane as the aircraft? Wouldn't the G forces on the blood be evenly distributed across the body? Possibly extending the force of Gs during a turn? also with current tech the pilot can have a virtual 360 view in real time. Or that was thought of and fatigue set in sooner.
The software that combines radar returns with that display is phenomenal. I’ve stared at a few radar displays while I was in the navy and never saw anything that impressive. I love the F35, it’s an amazing aircraft.

Well, he's definitely going to know the amraam is on its way once it goes Pitbull.... but most likely too late by then
I can't understand you.
@Grammar nazi Yea good luck on reacting that by locking it and shooting. Bays open like what? 2-3 sec? Then its gone again.
So complicated it reminds me of the academy scene with the cadets from Judge Dredd. "Yours... If you can ever get it to work."
I came here to see how similar the VTOL VR F-45 really is to the real F-35, and I'm really suprised at how similar it is.
Strikingly similar, not just visually but also in functionality
Pretty awsome. But i remember learning cnc machines after being experienced on mechanical and looking at l.c.d screens alot of soft keys are invisible because of how foreign it is. But you can learn it just seems people that design this stuff are the only ones that can trully use it to potential
Ok. It's a flying tablet. Well done, LM.
Shame all the clowns were laughing in the background.
voice control can be used as well as just selecting objects on the screen. They were using the HOTAS method in this demonstration.
When paired with coming stealth drones and stealth drone swarms the F35 will be unbeatable.
lol keep dreaming
Ragarnoy Seems very believable to me. Maybe not to an Indian or Chinese.
It is built for dogfights if it needs. According to Col. David Berke the F-35 is fabulous at close quarters combat and even in scenarios where he started the exercise on the defensive he was easily able to turn that around.
@@Ragarnoy0 nope this is one of the worlds best jets
It's no harder than handling regular HOTAS on any modern jet fighter. Just check out the DCS videos in my channel and you will see.
@3:15 on the second screen is that a satellite view of the target because it’s looking directly down?
I don't think I've ever seen the words Apple and lower cost together.... lol that's a funny one.
*****
hey, I reckon that the DAS view of the fighter exploding looked BMS graphics are a lot better... the fire coming out of his bird was just circles!
I think most of the other US planes such as the F/A-18 have the same cursor thing on the radar
Will this be PS4 exclusive or will we get it on Xbox One ?
True. But I was really saying the designers should/could have done a better job streamlining the GUI/processes.
OMG this technology is 12 years ago
Just after the video ends:
So great.
There's a weapons selector in the stick. Majority of combat features are integrated into throttle and stick quadrants.
Is that Lockheed's training center or Lockheed's party center a lot of fun down there xD.
It's their public demo centre. Other demo centres and simulators are available according to your clearance category.
Where do I place my order?
I think this is part of the pilots pre-flight/mission prep one the ground. (Cockpit HUD arrangement). Targeting does seem a little bit complicated though.
It's extremely simple compaired to even the most modern F-16 or F-15
@@ImperiumLibertas f-15ex probably has the same or similar display
Imagine these avionics in a Raptor. It would be every fighter pilots wet dream
WOW. Phenomenal tech. inspires awe.
Its like complicated games, you have to try it and try it till you get it :p And that helmet is the coolest thing ive seen in my life
This is my response to people who say “it can’t dogfight, it’s a terrible fighter” it doesn’t have to
Amazing aircraft
Well.. right now i'm 3 years away from bachelor degree in physics.. then comes the USAF.. and about those 3d renderings.. they're just some things that i made while my leg was broken! ;)
God this makes me proud to be an American we make some badass shit!
hold on to your pride buddy you guys also made The Kardashians and Justin bieber
Canada made Justin Bieber. And Nickelback. #SAD!
And the project has only cost $400+ billion.
This was 2012 every other country is only now catching UP!🤯
Bruh I can imagine iOS 14 on the F-35!!
Im pretty positive its resistive. He is pressing pretty hard for one, and resistive displays are also more durable.
wow that's complicated, they do that while in a fight and in motion?
Video went a bit invalid after the 7:20ish mark. The second you open your weapons bay doors, your radar signature is gone for those few seconds and those enemy fighters nearby would've seen for those few seconds that there's something in the air nearby.
+Homer Simpson
Only if the enemy fighters know where to look with their radars. Perhaps you should get some time in a jet combat simulator like DCS World so you have a clue on how hard it can be to locate any aircraft, and how stealth aircraft actually make a BIG difference to combat (especially on the most dangerous First Day of any future major war).
AnkhDjedSeneb Oh I have DCS world, love the A-10
can i connect my air pods to this?
2:23 57000 ceiling and 2000 foot floor on the vertical scan that close? I wonder how many bars that is and how long the scan time is to achieve that.
AESA man, no scan time right?
8 years later. Where is it ?
Id only worry that the screen gets damaged, then how do I work with the jet?? In WW2/Cold War planes got damaged loads but at least you could look at the dials and still use the switches. but if that big screen got fucked then how do I control different aspects of the plane? Perhaps the must important controls can be done manually, I hope so.
I wonder how much more kickass the HMD could be with the advances in consumer space VR and AR technologies.
They don't actually sit entirely upright but more leaned back with their legs pointed forward kinda like in a supercar to handle the Gs better.
@@thehelldoicallthis9241 I didn't know that.
Thank you replying.
can u play war thunder on it
Can anyoe explaine the variouys color codes here? E.g what does green, cyan, white, magenta etc mean?
I don't understand how he gets the live image? From satellite?
