    You can also do an access course to medicine (though you have to be above 19 years old and going into uni at 21+ years of age.)
    As for work experience, I spoke to several unis that have said that those applying for 2021 will not be penalized if they don't have any work experience. You can also do virtual work experience (a few medical schools offer these) and taking note of the medical side of the news.

    This was such an inspiring video. I have slightly lower GCSE grades and I was wondering if you knew which medical schools put less emphasis on GCSE's.
    Also, a UCAT video would be really helpful 😊

    • @annarebecca
      @annarebecca  4 года назад +4

      Thank you so much for watching! So if you have lower grades you don't really want to apply anywhere with a point system, so not like Nottingham, Birmingham or Manchester. I know Exeter, Anglia Ruskin and Southampton you just need to pass the GCSE requirements, which you need to check on their websites but they don't score them. It would also help you out a lot and really boost your application if you get a high UCAT/BMAT score so I would really focus on that and ofc I will make a video so keep an eye out for that. So glade it was helpful x

      @@dhritimehta7842 Don't forget, if you don't quite get the right A levels either, you can apply for graduate entry medicine using a 2:1 degree in any subject, many people do it this way! Very few graduate entry medicine programs look at any grades except for the 2:1 degree requirement (or a 2:2 with a masters degree). Keep the motivation going!

      @mofeajegbomogun7016 3 года назад +1

      @@dhritimehta7842 If you don't get the predicted grades: first check if you are a contextual/ widening participation student. if you are ARU has a low UCAT cut off for the last few years and give an ABB offer and prediction for contextual applicants. Considering you got low GCSEs I'm guessing you might be. Aston and Kent don't look at precitded grades (you will still need to get AAA/AAB on result day though). Birmingham only want you to be predicted AAB same with Hull York I think. Foundation medicine is an option. Please don't automatically think of graduate medicine. There are so many other options apart from graduate medicine. If there is anything else you would like to ask me let me know as I've looked a lot into pretty much all medical schools. Good luck!!!

    Hi Anna, thanks for the video. For the personal statement, the work experience section is difficult because not a lot of experience could be completed this year because of covid. I know some universities have said ‘ don’t worry about this part’. What would you recommend I write in my personal statement, should I just not mention it or say I couldn’t complete it because of covid. Thankyou !! Xx

    • @annarebecca
      @annarebecca  2 года назад +4

      Hi Jessica, It was such a difficult year and so hard to get work experience so please don’t worry at all. I have seen this on the uni pages so they do understand. However, personally I wouldn’t put anything negative on your personal statement. I wouldn’t say you couldn’t get work experience but try to think about how covid has helped you grow as a person (particularly in a way that would benefit you as a doctor) or other forms of “work experience” you have if you’ve been a mentor at school or part of any extra curriculum activities. Hope this helps and good luck with your application ☺️ xx

    • @annarebecca
      @annarebecca  4 года назад +1

      This is a really hard one lovely and it is ultimately your decision. If you apply deferred then you shouldn't have a problem and if you have a good plan of what you want to do, then most universities will let you if you get a place and it doesn't normally stop you getting an offer. This would then mean you have your place and can just enjoy your gap year. However, it is a lot of extra work to do during 6th form. If you apply during your gap year then you won't have to do it during 6th form and it would take off some pressure but the application process will take up a lot of your gap year. You will need to stay in the country to prepare for the UCAT/BMAT and you need to take this the same year as you apply and be around for interviews. It really depends what you think would suit you best and what your priorities are. Hope this helps a little bit xx

    I think for most people, ‘good’ grades, especially at GCSE can be quite subjective. My grades will be teacher assessed this year so I’m scared that my full potential won’t be reflected in my grades. What would you say are good grades at GCSEs? Would you say all 7s, 8s and 9s? I love your videos btw!! 🤍

      I think so because they are all as and a*s and we most likely would get some leniency because they are not exactly our grades it has been a difficult yr too which doesn't leave the same room for the same development

    I’m a graduate in psychology I’m trying to apply for medicine. Medicinal student who offers his services to help others told me that my choices are limited specially cause I don’t have English and maths gcse B or above and he also said I’m limited because of the fact that it’s psychology and not a lot of uni take that for gem .... so told me to maybe to consider one year college to do access to medicine course .... my gcse were c grades. So I dont know what to do now he said I can still try apply but my options will be limited cause they look at your gcse and few unis consider psycholgy bsc as a science. Please can anyone offer any advice?😭

    What is good grades in gcse in the new 9-1 system like all 7s(old a) and above ? Does it matter if we get one subject below a 7 like I might get a 4 or 5 in spanish because I was put on foundation and not very good at it but would most likely be the only subject below a 7 (I'm predicted quite a few 8s and 9s) would that be OK?

    • @ktm11545
      @ktm11545 3 года назад

      9 is A* and 8 is between A* and A, 7 is still an A I believe. A 4 is a pass, or a C and a 5 is a high C low B. in a foundation subject the highest grade given is a 5. you will do fine in your results :) I'm also getting mine this year

      Hi, I did a little more research for you, there are a few med schools in the UK that require biology OR chemistry, however your choices are very limited. There are a total of 33 medical schools I. The UK, there are three that do not require chemistry but another science. You should research some med schools that you are interested in and look at the requirements.
